This song was originally the opener and only new song on their 10th anniversary best of-album in 2019. It was the first track they recorded with Angie and it served as her introduction to the fans. I guess this is why they put this song last on Gold Dash. More like a bonus track.

This is a song from GS 4.9 (without yuri) and was the lead/featured song for their 10th anniversary. That also might be the reason why it doesn't sound like an album closer, cause it actually was an album opener.
On the original Hana recorded the drums, for Gold Dash they rerecorded the drums with Yuri.
The toms you find weird are Octobans, and they produce exactly the sound they are supposed to LOL
This song was the first song Angie sang on ...
There also is a MV with GS 4.9 (without Yuri) ...
About the title: It means to be a hero in the face of adversity (Held trotz widriger Umstände) which is a typical GS theme ...
If you go backwards in time - G-Litter would be next (not sure you wanna do the 5 song cover-album Go Luck, although I like the songs very much).
Alternatively the live acoustic songs (maybe combined with their studio versions) would be a great next step....
    Cheers :)

My vote goes to KAKUHEN for the next Gachapin album. It’s actually my 4th favorite album by them. The first three are W, Music Battler and the self-titled album.
    Thanks 😊

It's the lineup with Nenne which I like a lot, so I am all for watching live stuff from that 7th anniversary year again. The album itself is hit-or-miss for me, but it has some great tracks and after listening to it again recently, I noticed that it has grown on me over time. Kakuhen or G-litter are the 2 most logical choices for sure. I like Kakuhen more than G-litter, but both have some cool surprises.

Glad you really enjoyed the album, and have managed to get hold of a copy. The sound quality from the 10th anniversary is great - that's a blu-ray that I certainly recommend getting hold of if you can.
They started with Hana on guitar for 9 songs - then played 3 with the dual drum set up you saw here. After that Yuri and Angie had a short break with the core members playing some older songs including a medley of Tomo-zo songs. Finally the full group came back together for 5 more songs and 4 encore!

The 3CD version has pictures of them on the cover. I own that version and I never realized that Yuri isn't in those pictures. I saw Angie and just assumed everyone was on there.

My recommendation is to go for Kakuhen next, though I also think the other suggestion to check out a full concert would be good too. The Toyosu Pit one is probably my favourite that's here online, but you've seen a number of those already.

Live? It’s probably too much material, but would love to hear a comparison of 2013’s Delicious Live when the first two dancers were about 16, TomoZo about 24-25, soon after Doll$Boxx, and chasing their upcoming Label upgrade. Versus the 2019 10th anniversary that this live Adversity(opposing difficulty?) Hero clip came from, only 6months after Yuri joined, and orange-glow-pants Angie was still 17 about to start her last year of high school. I love my prodigies (LisaX etc), but so do Koga & company!

Solid song, would sit somewhere in the middle for this album. I really like the intro with those guitar blips and addition of those long toms makes it a bit more interesting. Also this song was supposed to be used for Paralympics that were happening in Japan, but then the pandemic happened.
Now that you finished the album, you can go tell Howard how wrong he is 😂. No but really, I can kinda understand not liking this album as much, because of how different it is, but sometimes I think that criticism misses the context behind this album. In my opinion we won't get another album like this from them again, that's why I appreciate it. You could say that they were facing a lot adversities (🤭) during this period, like lineup change, conflicts and trying find their new direction, and all that contributed to how this album came out. Also this album might not be sole reason, but it definitely contributed to the fact that later they went the self-producing route and maybe even why they changed the label.
As for what you could check out next from GS, I would propose Delicious album, the album that started their "more electronic sound" era, but the problem with it is, like the rest of their indie stuff, it's not on streaming platforms (anymore, license for Delicious ran out just few months back) and pretty much you would need to use some proxy service to buy a physical copy. So you're left with Kakuhen and G-litter, and between those two I would suggest Kakuhen. Or alternatively, instead of checking albums, you could watch the GGG Premium concert that they have on their channel.
P.S. I would say it's a bit unfair to compare Ace to any of their previous works, because in the past you would get few crazy songs on the on album, but with Ace, they without holding back intentionally channeled craziness on this whole EP 😅. And the upcoming single is very much not that, so who knows if this chaotic, experimental release was just a one of from them.

You get my +1 on telling Howard 🤣
And I also agree with you, that the comparison of their albums besides the "my favourite is xyz" is pretty pointless. There is so much context to be considered, that you need to go beyond a reaction vid to understand the circumstances.
It will be even more obvious once you go before Music Battler, when they were just an indie group without a budget and their own label.
We'll see, how it goes here - looking forward to the come up chapter ;) ....

@@amiwolf8117 I wonder if I shouldn't have made that pun with the song name, now look what I've started 😆. And yeah, I believe that GS is one of those bands that you actually need to listen to the whole discography or at least the majority of it to fully understand the band (and I'm not just saying this because I'm a fanboy 😅, I don't have the same opinion about most of my favorite bands). So I'll take it a face value when Howard points out his criticisms about GD, but I do ponder, have he actually listened to all the albums 😄

Yeah I was thinking about it as well and I can also understand why Gold Dash would be low on someone's list. Like you said it's just the most different (at least from the ones I've heard).
I've been thinking about checking out a full live show by them at some point, but I think I'd probably make an extra video for something like that 😉

I do actually like this album quite a lot now, but it doesn't have any of the five songs - Tamashii (live), Mindset, Never Say Never (live), I Wish I, and Alive (live) - that made me a Gacharic Spin fan. I think I discovered them at just the right time. Any earlier and I might not have got into them, but I still got to experience the release of my favourites (so far), W and Ace.

Interesting point. I'm also not sure how I'd feel about it if it had been my first GS exposure even though my first album was Music Battler.
Which did come before, but also has more of their 'wild nature' to it imo 😜

Was a fun ride to follow. Gyakkyou Hero was definitely a powerhouse of a song to introduce Angie to the fans.
If you want to keep the trend of going in reverse chronological order then G-litter would be next although that's arguably the weakest Gachapin album and IMO skippable(saying that as a pretty hardcore fan lol). It opens up with 3 great songs but a lot of the remainder is just 'weird' - and not the usual good Gachapin weird. Some songs have an actual comedic/parodic sound to them.
Might wanna do Kakuhen next which some commenters have already recommended on Gold Dash reactions or go back in time to either Delicious or Winner for a taste of their early sound. Those two sound quite different from Music Battler.

    • @amiwolf8117

G-Litter indeed is a bit a weird album - I love most songs, but a bit dissapointing after Kakuhen, I expected something different, but G-Litter seems like there was not much development for GS. I love for example "It's heat season", which sounds like a Leningrad Cowboys song and features crazy Oreo and incredible guitar work by Tomo-Zo.
For some reason, it's the album from GS that I listened to the most ...

I was really disappointed with that album, but I checked it out again (and Kakuhen) when I had to go to the city hall last week and I decided to go on foot while listening to those albums. I enjoy them way more than when I bought both of them even though they are still my least favourite albums I own by them. For reference, I don't own any of the albums before Music Battler, but I do own the 10th anniversary 3 disc compilation so I have heard most of their music probably. I think I enjoy both Kakuhen and G-litter (and the even older tracks) way more nowadays because I have seen live performances of a lot of those tracks and just because I know what to expect now instead of just hoping everything is like Mindset basically. I am looking forward to his reaction on the MV of うんうんうんちくん (last track of G-litter), just because it has to be very weird without any context.

I mean I'm kind of interested how these 'weird' songs would sound since they are no strangers to weirdness in general 😅
We'll see which album comes next, but I'll probably do all of them eventually anyway 😜👍

Really nice song. I agree that Angie adds something special to the GS sound that I don't want to miss anymore. Nevertheless I love their older releases not less than the new ones. Even their first songs still hold up to the test of time. BTW you might be interested in the new EPs by PaleNeØ ("Øctave") and Mana Diagram ("Light of the Destiny") that were released during the last few days.

@@HajiPepenk They never released anything with EITA, they separated after a couple of live gigs in 2009 (because they had different ideas about the direction where the band should be going) and Tomo-Zo had about 1 day to learn their stuff for a live show (November 2009 iirc).
So you could call the GS time with EITA GS 0.9 ...

@@amiwolf8117 The crazy thing about that is, I watched a couple of recent sets by EITA (last year and this year) which featured her solo work, Takaeita songs and an other project that I don't remember and I actually thought some of those songs sounded very much like earlier Gacharic Spin songs with all the synth usage. Her newer stuff seems even more a mix of metal and crazy synths with her doing harsh vocals (and cleans, which were very autotuned) on top of it. Not necessarily my favourite music, but I am happy to have watched those sets. She seems a very competent guitar player in her own right.
