I think an underrated part of Lucas’ decision to fake out the jocks is his pure belief in his friends and trusting his own instincts. I think he wanted to believe Jason just wanted to talk until they beat up the garage band and he was then like woah this is not it. Which is why he snuck away to the radio and once his friends told him Eddie didn’t do it and there’s stuff he doesn’t know he trusted them completely and decided to throw Jason off and ditch them. Lucas is a ride or die and even though his friends let him down in the premiere episode by not coming to his game that was important to him, he knows this is bigger than that and would never betray them.
I think Lucas really wanted to believe Jason and co wanted to just talk, and then when Jason went straight to torturing information from the bandmate, that's when he decided to fake them out.
I think Lucas knew they were out for blood. After Jason says "we're just going to talk" we see Lucas looking over at the other guys who are putting a bunch of dangerous objects in the back of the car. He probably wanted to be wrong about that... but he also believed Eddie was guilty and felt they had to confront him. Maybe he thought he could mediate. But once Dustin and the others were in the crosshairs, he was 100% never going to go along with that.
Lucas went along from the start only to keep tabs on what Jason and the team were up to. Throughout the show, he's always played the role of the scout, the lookout guy, the one gathering information. He's doing the same thing this season.
Will, Mike, & Eleven didn't leave the skaing rink because they didn't have transportation and were waiting for Jonathan & Argyle to pick them up.
Ariana is spot on about Lucas. Yeah, there's some peer pressure, but he's also going along to keep tabs on what Jason & his gang of goon are up to.
I love Nancy's face when she sees the car pull up with Steve and co.

Lucas is one of the most clutch in this whole show besides Nancy and Eleven. I love him!

People always underestimating my boy Lucas. He's the most clutch guy in the series, show some respect lol
They also gave Bob crap but we all knew they'd eventually be eating crow for that.
To be fair I think Lucas definitely wavered a bit here, it's sort of his worst episode whereas in the premiere he was more riding that line in the best way he could. He said straight out over the radio that Eddie murdered the girl; he wasn't like, about to lynch him like the rest of the goons were, but he was convinced by them to some degree. Obviously super nice to see him catch himself so quickly and put himself back on the good guys side :) Lucas and Max are probably my favorite characters, they feel a little more complex than the others who tend to be just like, unconditionally part of the team.

@@jerodast nah i don’t think he was wavering , he had barely known what was going on & ofc if you hear someone you know murdered someone else you knew .. then yeah you’re going to be taken aback a bit and he was definitely sticking with them to find out details so to say this is his worst episode is a stretch ngl and even when they said the hellfire club was demonic he stuck up for them the best he could . lucus is smart and i knew if it came down to it he wasn’t gonna side with anyone other than his friends , i thought that was obvious.

It's easy to get upset with Mike & call him a douchebag, but keep in mind he is still only 14 years old. This is his first romantic relationship. He has no clue how to navigate through the emotional ups & downs that comes with having a girlfriend. Don't forget he just found out that El has been LYING to him for the past 6 months. They both have raging hormones & mood swings so cut him a break if he happens to react the same way most of us would've done at 14...
yah and he’s trying to communicate healthily but he also kinda stood up for angela at the table and was also gaslighting her because he can’t see her as herself and just sees her as a superhero… and can’t say he loves her because his (and nancy’s and holly’s) don’t so his brain is like love = ???

Agree 100% I’ve seen other reactors get very upset at Mike, at that age were growing physically and emotionally. At that age were too busy doing other stuff having a boy or girl friend was never in the thought off, but when it falls in your lap, like it did Mike is very hard to deal with it, and Mike is doing the best he can.

It’s hilarious to me that some people would actually think Lucas was go betray his friends he been ride a die since day 1 but I love the doubters to see the look on y’all facing at the end
He did have the big fight about Eleven back in season 1, so not exactly unwavering since day 1. I actually like that his relationship to everyone is a bit more complex with a few wrinkles here and there, it makes it more satisfying when he always proves what a fundamentally good guy he is every time. One of my favorite characters.

I got a "meal" once, well twice technically, on a flight. Going and coming from Hawaii. It was coach so it was just a sandwich and chips but it was magical.
They used to serve hot meals, but up until the late '80s or so, they were often really *gross* hot meals. That greenish-grey slop Joyce was forking through looked about right for the era.
To be fair, though, there *was* a brief period, just a few years before the airlines stopped serving hot meals altogether, that the food improved tremendously, although the stand-up and late-night comedians all just kept on keeping on, making jokes about how gross airline food was even once it was no longer true. For that matter, I seem to remember that they kept making those same airline food jokes for *years* after the airlines stopped even *serving* food. It was a meme slow to dissipate.

They might've considered just running for it, after all they did that in season 1. But given that their problems were firmly human-based at that moment with no sign of insane supernatural stuff going down, I can't say I hate their judgement given the info they had at the time, that running would've been short-sighted and probably just compounded their legal trouble. As bad as juvie might be, I'm sure Eleven didn't want to go back to living in hiding in a cabin for an indefinite period.

@@JohnnyGingy I suppose they could have hid somewhere but I think they wanted to wait and make sure things were ok and to face what happened,but I am surprised that the skating rink let them just leave with Jonathan and didn't have her stay there to wait for cops or ambulance I guess no one called the cops for an incident until her parents found out and pressed charges
I wish it was possible to turn off (CC) when turning on English subtitles for english shows. Please tell me I'm not the only one.
A lot of platforms/shows actually do have that distinction - "English" vs "English [CC]". I don't have a Netflix sub right now so I forget if they do...
@@jerodast Last time I checked Netflix didn't but that was last year before my sub ran out. I just checked Prime and Disney+. Prime actually has the ability to choose one or the other. Disney doesn't. I might watch Prime more now, knowing that. Here's hoping Netflix and Disney catch up.

Ewwww I hated that growly way Vecna said “Maxxxx!” This is the only season I hadn’t watched yet and I’m glad I’m just catching the highlights with you guys. I don’t really do horror but the other seasons with the weird monsters were tolerable. Vecna can speak like a human and is humanoid and I hateeeee it. But I love David Harbour and had to see what happens to Hopper and finish out the story as well!

considering how the show plays on D&D tropes, i interpret that in the end the group will lose as Vecna ascends to actual godhood, from being a lich. in lore, Vecna is now a god and is now openly warring with The Raven Queen. 11 is no "Matron of Death", nor is she the goddess of death, fate and winter. she is so far from it. so i see her and her friends dying in the end.
The show will end in a TPK and the camera will zoom out revealing the same group in a fantasy world, around a table, playing 3rd edition of Corporations & CEO's
I agree that the show's scope is zooming out each season, from just Hawkins in S1 to the world in S4, so it very well could go god/universe level by the end. But I highly doubt they'll kill them all off or say none of it was real all along.

I totally agree that this season maybe took a little too long to really get moving, and start bringing all the plot threads together. I think that's the only problem with splitting all the characters apart into SO many separate groups.

Why not. I've been watching TV and movies with subtitles for over 25 years. It'll change your life. Makes it so much easier to focus on what's being said.
Because it's very easy to miss dialogue. Subtitles help with catching and retaining relevant pieces of information, especially during a reaction.
