Congratulations 🎉Great education for those who don't know. Asthmatic here. I used to run 3 times a week 30mins or more every time some times I'd do the 1000 stairs near us prior to my run. My lungs were never so healthy. I worked my way up like yourself. Run for a bit, walk for a bit and try to push myself each time. Asthmatics can definitely run. I stay away from busy roads, smog and smoke. If you can't run lift weights.❤❤

I made ties for my friends wedding party. It took a bit of research but overall not too difficult.
The part I found worst was hand slip stitching up the back but it does give a really nice finish. I have also seen one where you sew it like a tube and pull it through but annoyingly only once I'd finished!!
My best advice would be to find an old tie the right width (skinny or traditional, either already own or charity shop), seam rip and create the pattern from it. It makes it much easier that trying to do maths and there are plenty of past it ties in charity shops.
I think I could have made all 6 start to finish in maximum 2 days but I'm not as very fast sewer so you may find it much faster.
Overall, a little fiddly but well worth it for the finished look and custom colour/print. Also got so many compliments on the day which was so nice as a guest.
Also huge congratulations, gorgeous ring and excited to see your wedding sewing journey as an engaged person but not currently planning anything!

Congratulations! …. my granny made wedding dresses for a South American department store so I would love to see the process. I too had my bridesmaids dresses handmade which they designed together with my friend dressmaker. It was a total success and so much fun - thoroughly recommend it. Those trousers are amazing, that red satin is gorgeous and good luck with your running schedule … phew; lots to follow and so excited for you.

Ties are simple and quick to make … not all patterns are the same though, so beware! Charmed by Ashley on TH-cam has a good intro to making them, loads of free patterns available maven patterns has dommet which you need for interlining but can also buy ties from charity shop and take apart for cheap linings 😉 just made 3 ties for wedding guests, made from their respective lady partners dress fabric (and matching pocket squares and cufflinks) I’m excited for you🎉

Well done on c25k. I've just completed it at the age of 62❤ I'll never run 5k in 30 minutes but I can run for 30 minutes. Brilliant for my mental health too. Good luck, you can do it. Congratulations on your engagement 🎉

I made the Peekaboo Patterns Classic Necktie for hubby when we went to a wedding. It has wide and skinny versions and various sizes. There's even a TH-cam sewalong which was very helpful!

My long-term partner and I have also been talking about marrying - choosing the ring together, me wearing a suit instead of a dress and a short dress for the party - that kind of stuff. It’s so important that the wedding feels like YOU 💍

Congratulations Jess, sounds like you are going to be very busy sewing for the wedding! I have tried the couch to 5k twice now but week 4 is my nemesis, each time I get ill or injured! Seeing you stick with it is making me think about starting again, I used to run a lot more but getting back into it has been challenging!

Quick note about the tie since I just made one for a friend's wedding, they are very straight forward, just require some patient hand sewing. I used the Seamwork Graham tie.

Singing while running makes sense. My respiratory physio wants me singing (just sitting down for me) to help slow down/get control of my breathing.

Thank you so much!! I'm so excited ☺️ Re: running, I'm doing the Couch to 5k which is a free app created by the NHS and it builds you up from nothing to running for 30 minutes continuously over 9 weeks! Would 100% recommend!

That black jacquard is stunning! Does the shop have a website? I find it so hard to find nice black fabric that’s a little different! I’m just not a bright colourful person 😂
