Basic training is only thirteen weeks but after basic there are other modules like School of Infantry and Marine Combat Training Battalion- then they do their MOS training schools.

You realise this isn't specific to US Marines, right?
Pretty much every branch of the military throughout the world has has Basic Training and then additional MO specific training, since regardless of your MO, you're always a soldier first.
A British Army Chef will still be required to do the 24 week Phase 1 soldier training before his MO training to become a chef (Phase 2). Some MO's have up to 3 Phases of training.
The Royal Marines are no exception, their 'Basic Training' is 32 weeks (64 for officers), and then there's the option to move on and become part of the Mountain Leader Training Cadre, which I believe is a further 32 weeks.
@@JohnSmith-ts8xp I know- Im saying the MOS specific training takes place after Basic and School of Infantry etc. It difficult to compare "basic training" between militaries because they may define them differently.

And they were only there for 5 days lol a good way to get more recruits.
Heer Kommando it didn’t include that they have to remove their mask while in the chamber. And that the Crucible is 3 days with below minimal amounts of sleep. And that the actual center piece is that they’re doing all of what was during a sixty mile trek.

As someone who just graduated just last Friday from mcrd Parris Island sc, this video reminded me of everything I did. You don’t have the time during the day to sit and think about what you’ve accomplished, you just did what you were told to do when you were told to do it. It makes you aware of just how much you’ve accomplished in those 13 weeks of recruit training once you finally get the chance to look back and the amount of confidence you gain is unbelievable. I am proud to claim the title, and anyone who is willing to push themselves to be the best version of themselves they can be can do it. It’s a mindset, and I’m not saying I’d want to do it again, but I’m definitely glad I did it.
Prolly the coolest aspect of being a Marine is you never lose the mindset. Ive taken care of end of life clients who had served in the Marines and their positivity is impressive.

In Marine Corps bootcamp, which is 13 weeks, but they don’t get liberty (I think that is what RM’s call it at their training) and then they all go to the school of infantry (regardless of each Marines job, because “every Marine is a rifleman”) and then to there specific job school. That is why Marine Corps bootcamp isn’t as long as RM’s.

So the country that doesent teach hand to hand combat , just reload as fast as you can and go guns blazing ( situation : 1v1 with a guy that run out of ammo ( he holstereld his gun to go hand to hand combat )

This isn’t true the US Army teaches hand to hand combat it’s called Combative’s it’s a far superior training then MCMAP and it’s taught in basic training. Once you graduate and are in your unit you can attend Combative’s school which has 5 levels.
Combative’s is basically a wrestling/BJJ/Judo hybrid which is what you learn in basic training the higher the levels incorporate weapons into the training. You’re also taught in basic how to engage the enemy with your rifle without using deadly force (bullets)
MCMAP is outdated bayonets haven’t been used in combat in over a half a century and when the hell is body punching gonna be used in combat?
Marines will even tell you Army Combative’s is the more practical program.

As Marine Infantry, and later an Armor Officer, I can tell you this is a VERY sanitized version. I had one Royal Marine Commando refer to our training as the "crash course", because we aren't eased into it. There just isn't the time. And going through Officer Candidates School during the summer in Quantico is no joke, the heat is debilitating. But back to recruit training, you aren't seeing the off camera hits with a steel rifle cleaning rod or the beatings for no real reason. And when asked by officers if we'd been abused we lied and said "no sir". I'm proud to have gone through it. I never signed up for an easy day. Thanks for your commentary.

When you have the time watch "The Pacific" miniseries. You find out why the 1st US Marine Division has "Waltzing Matilda" as their song and the Southern Cross on their division patch.
After boot camp all Marine goes through Military combat training and then they go through their MOS school.

New subscriber here, 15 years USMC veteran. Salute to you and your lads. Observation not critique. After Boot Camp all Marine's go on to further training schools. If it's a combat arms MOS, it's infantry, then a more specific training such as Scout/Sniper. If graduating, you might then go to even further training. If selected this could be Reconnaissance. You will have spent well over a year in training. Very selective over and above Boot Camp. In 15 years of service I had a few opportunities to train and work with British Royal Marines and I admire all the professional men that I met, skilled all. Good videos you do, thank you.

For what it's worth, to this day - the proudest day of my life was attending my son's graduation at MCRD in San Diego. - 10 years later he's still serving as a MARSOC Marine. Altogether training (which never actually stops) is quite a bit longer than the 13 week Boot Camp. At boot camp graduation, they are Marines, however, the next stop is Advanced Infantry Training SOI (School of Infantry) which lasts for an additional 30 - 60 days, depending on MOS. Next comes MOS specific training which can be up to an additional 180 days. Ooh Rah!
i always had fun with flugels, always made the military me seriously but kept it fun.
it helped i got used to having to push a 3/4th ton farm truck so solid lower body. im confident id make it through and would enjoy parts of it.

18:34 Also keep in mind that boot camp isn't the only training they're required to go through. In the U.S. military (all branches), enlisted recruits go through basic training/boot camp to become a member of that branch, which is what we saw here. After that, everyone goes on to more specialized training depending on what your job will be, from infantry to cooks to radar technicians. Correct me if I'm wrong, but while your training is a lot longer, it's all inclusive. Once you finish your 32 weeks you get sent to your unit. The U.S. does it in stages, of which boot camp is just the first.

In Quantico, VA, we had the pleasure of working with Royal Marines. We have an endurance course in Quantico and you guys crush those run times every time.
This is the first phase of training - "basic" training, applicable to all who enter the service (often referred to as "boot camp"). Then comes more specialized training for rifleman (Infantry), mechanized (tankers (Armor)), cooks, logistics, mechanics, avionics, engineers (Seabees support the Marines, I believe)/demolitions, communications, etc. Some training can be quite lengthy, aircraft mechanics/technicians for example.
Not gonna lie, you're definitely my favorite lesser known TH-camr. Keep doing what you're doing, it's god tier.

When I went thru MCRD San Diego in '07, during a draw up for OIF/OEF, we had 7 platoons of ~110 recruits each in 3rd Battalion, Lima Co. I'd say about 95% of us made it thru at the time. Hell of an experience to march with 700+ recruits & a single Drill Instructor marching the entire company down what we called Recruit Highway. Went on to be a Trombonist in the 29 Palms Marine Band & later an Aircraft Firefighter w/ MWSS 272, which was deployed to Afghan in '11. I would do it all again in a heartbeat. Semper Fi!

Our boot camp is short but after that we got to SOI which is school of infantry where they teach us more about rifles and other weapons and then we go to MOS schools which is where they teach us whatever our job is going to be , all that before we even hit the fleet and be considered “real marines”

@@Wasattsi This is watered down. They never showed the dirty parts of basic training. They would grab and shove recruits around. Getting ITed or "slayed" would be a lot more intense and personal. They would literally be 2 inches from your face and you will feel their sweat dripping down on you. They never showed the countless hazing hours of running up and down the squadbay playing "games". They also never showed the tornadoes where they dump all of your shit all across the squadbay and then give you 30 seconds to clean everything up only to dump everything again. This was literally every other week. I remember that shit like it was yesterday

I love your attitude throughout the whole video haha. You should definitely react to some sort of Royal Marine training video and tell us what it was like and compare it.
My good friends dad was a marine in Vietnam, and occasionally when he would drink he would always tell stories about the war.
Well long story short, after his squad of about 5 to 7 or 10 men (i don't remember exactly) were ambushed in a jungle while on a patrol, his only friend in the marines had been shot in the head and fell to the floor. As they were retreating he runs over to maybe drag his friend to safety, or see what he can do. Well according to him, the bullet had blown his head open, or maybe just created a massive hole in his head, and he SWEARS that he saw his friends brain matter pouring out of his head. Surprisingly he wasn't dead and somehow was still able to speak, and as he lay there, with his life leaving his body, with his brain leaving his skull, he kept repeating one thing over and over and over. That one thing was Semper Fi. Semper Fi. Semper Fi. The motto of the Marine Corp, meaning Always Loyal, or Always Faithful.
Moral of the story? "Never make friends in time of war, cause you're only going to see them die."
Luckily after the war he was still himself (or at least close enough), and he was one hell of a comedian.
But the more we talked, and the more time we spent together, i started to understand more and more what they mean by "You can leave the war, but the war wont leave you."

Marine Bootcamp is just the first step, after bootcamp you get a 2week leave then go onto to do either 8 weeks of combat train for non grunt mos or 6+ months for grub mos, then you go on to do your mos training which is another 6months-18months, then you go to your unit. But on average it takes about a year before you hit the fleet. Other branches just have bootcamp then mos training then fleet, they skip the combat training portion.
Hell when i went thru Marine Corps bootcamp at Parris Island in '91 when you qualified with the the M16A2 you did it with Iron sights no ACOG. You had to qualify from the 200 yard line, 300 yard line and the 500 yard line in the sitting, kneeling and standing position.
Iron sights is the way it should be taught. And I'm not just saying that because I'm old.
Also '91, but SD instead of PI.

I didn't see a weapon sight attachment until a couple years into service. Training with Acogs breeds reliance on tools for aim.
When I watch videos like these id love to hear like more about yourself and compare it to what you went through, maybe add your 2 cents at any moment you can because that will make videos like these more interesting. But overall your vids are great keep it up bro

The 12 weeks only covers basic training for Marines. Afterwards, you train for your specific MOS. Of course different occupations will have varying training periods. Some are longer, others are shorter.
$20k a year but they also try get free housing, food and clothing etc on top of that.

It’s been a minute since my time in service so I don’t know all the changes. But from when I was in the USMC the drill instructors job was to create stress every minute and every second you’re in boot camp. They’re actually trying to brain wash you to act without thinking in a sense. So it’s not really about making the training the “toughest” ( compared to royal marine boot camp ) Its making it tough enough. it’s more about programming you to be like a robot type of mind set.
I genuinely feel like I could do this stuff, after high school worth of football and just harsh mentality of being focused and having teamwork and motivating others but also be honest of scared to do this but I also miss those type of stuff

There is still another 6 months to a year of training. We go to the Infantry training battalion infantry marines are there for 4 months. For non infantry Marines there is Marine combat training which is another month and then an occupational specialty training which lasts anywhere from 3 to 6 months
It is hard to appreciate our boot camp from these sorts of videos. They are certainly interesting but the editing doesn’t do it justice. It doesn’t adequately explain or exhibit the transformation of the recruit from beginning to end of basic training and how the methods are employed to turn self centered, self important young people into disciplined members of a team working toward a defined objective. The methods at the beginning of basic training transform over time as the recruits transform. Having been through it in 1975, it is reinvigorating to see and understand what Is going on. Some things have changed but the basics are the same and bring back the memories that I wish I could do it again. One thing is for sure, it changes you and for most of us, those influences stay with us for life and the lessons learned I use in life after serving. The brotherhood feelings extend even today 45 years later. Every Marine I encounter, young or old, is my brother/sister as we share a common experience. The esprit de corps lives on in each of us. Brothers and sisters, I will always have your back. Semper Fi, remain always faithful.

I personally think that you shouldnt call theese videos "reacting" but reviewing instead, I think that you explain things and based on the video give your opinion. React channels is nothing more than just "Haha" and "oh man" in my opinion.
I'm sure someone has pointed this out already, but that was the initial training. The is more training after based on their job.

Even after SOI or school of infantry you still have to go through fleet training by your senior Marines during your work up. Then after your first combat deployment you are no longer considered to be what we refer to as a boot.
19:35 They didn't go over it in this video, but the Crucible has over 45 miles of forced marching and it (in San Diego and as of 2007 when I went through it) and ended with a 9-mile march in full gear+ruck up a mountain steep enough that while I was standing up straight (or as straight as I could with the ruck on) I could stretch out my arms and touch the ground in front of me. It's one of the things that San Diego Marines hold over Parris Island Marines - no hills and definitely no mountains in Parris Island, so their Crucible is easier, though I'm sure the drill instructors make up for that in other ways.

It is long training. That right there is boot camp or in the Army calls it Basic Combat Training. Basic infantry training. Advance Individual Training is training base on MOS like advance infantry training, armor (tanks), quartermaster, and many more. Ive been through all that for 20 weeks of training in the Army
You should react to the "one more day" USMC videos, it's more in depth and a better reflection of Marine boot camp.
A lot of the training in the US military is specialization after bootcamp. For example, language and cultural school alone when trying to join the special forces lasts 24 months.
