  • Watch me build an adapter to mount an R6 rear shock in my 1983 Yamaha Virago XV750. This this is basically an R6 at this point.
    Also I build a custom subframe, and probably do other stuff.

    Do you make an audible 'beep' when you touch the work piece with the edge finder? Because that's what I did in my mind

      I listen to probes and machines beep at work all day so honestly the hum of a 3 phase generator and clacking of a failing old mill is the real music in my ears when I'm in the shop.

    Really like that seat bracket. What drove the decision to switch to r6 shock instead of keeping it stock? purely cosmetic or is there a performance issue...?

      Stock tank from the bike. '83 Yamaha XV750

    R6 shock is made for swing arm with linkage. Spring does not match the specs for XV. Better choice would be something from KTM or Ducati with the same swing arm to shock articulation like the XV. I think some of Japanese bikes have the shocks for cantilever swing arms too. Your test after fitting shows the spring is way too hard.and has to be replaced.
