      @@Ohquesarahkind of true. But your subconscious mind is your body too. Try having someone cut you while you're a asleep. You won't see or hear them but the body will influence the mind. It goes both ways. So even if psychological trauma made your body crooked (it did mine) the body has to be worked on simultaneously in order to heal.

    Wish I would have seen this a year ago. I watched your videos on how to address the musculature associated with pelvic tilt and I was doing them forever with very temporary results. 5 minutes with a physical therapist last week and he popped my pronated ankle and pulled that same leg and un-jammed my hip. Literally... PROBLEM RESOLVED within 24 hours.

  • @Vidyut_Gore
    @Vidyut_Gore 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Apart from old injuries to back, etc, one reason is any injury - particularly in the immediately after, recovering phase where you put less weight on one side to protect it. This can be leg injuries with or without a limp, but basically where the body puts less weight on that leg to prevent pain. Less commonly, upper body injuries too, if they result in movements that avoid using one side more - say doing more work with a healthy hand to protect a bad elbow. Usually, you'll also see one shoulder more forward than the other in such cases - a kind of twist placing the healthy side a bit forward and drawing the bad side back.

    Thank you for the post! I am a 33 year old chef. I had a traumatic accident in '15. I now have an permanent internal prosthetic in my left foot (interlocking titanium plate with over 20 screws). My recovery has been fairly miraculous and I recently stumbled across your youtube channel. It's opened a new door of possibilities in my eternal healing journey. NOTE: My left foot is pretty flat and I cannot fully bend my toes--especially the big toe. My physical therapist had seen many surgeries like mine, but he was unable to explain this. I believe it has to do with another surgery from the same accident on the same foot that involved fusing the top of my foot together with pins & metal screws. All of those pins and screws have been removed as of January 2016. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!

These last few years I have gotten worse now having SI joint dysfunction. Even doing PT every year you only get so many visits and it's nice to have something to do independently while waiting to get into PT or when you've used up your insurance allowance. With random injuries happening regularly you allow me to stay proactive with treatment and help improve function and quality of life.

    I read that the flat foot was a symptom of the hip not a tilt. Also very interesting what you said about side sleeping. My symptoms really started when I began side sleeping. I was also doing a lot of sitting at work. Tight hips are a big factor.

    This is mind-blowing! I have been watching a lot of videos and reading a bunch of stuff trying to figure out the cause of my imbalances, until I found this video!
    My two legs feel very different when squatting but I could never figure out why. I can clearly feel the imbalances as (1) I feel that my upper body is a bit leaning sideways while jogging (2) I feel that my right hip is sitting deeper into the chair and my right lower back hurts even though I have a nice ergo chair (3) I notice that my two knees and feet are pointing at different angles even though I thought I was sitting upright and facing directly forward. Because my right knee is pointing more outwards and the lower back pain is on the right side, I always thought the issue is on the right side. UNTIL I FOUND THIS VIDEO. It all makes sense now: it comes from the left ankle that ripples through the whole body. My left shoulder is higher as mentioned in the video. And a very subtle thing I just noticed: my left toenail is not parallel with the floor like the right one. It's "tilted" inwards likely caused by all the squats while have an inward-tilted ankle. I will do the exercise you mentioned in the linked videos accordingly! Thank you so much for sharing all these insightful stuff!

  • @freedomalert
    @freedomalert 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I restore both archs with this: lay down on the floor with your legs straight but relax, get a piece of wood or large hard cover book, about 1 1/2 inches thick and put it under your glutes, stay 20 minutes, take out the book, bring your knees up but your feet stay on the floor, for 5 minutes lay there. Feel the difference. My feet were hurting for 2 months because arch was getting strong. If you have no butt get a 2 inches thick book.

    • @estateproductions3859
      @estateproductions3859 6 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      I share your frustration I was/am there. through YEARS of bad posture my body had adapted terribly as Blake mentions. This leads to a terrible positive feedback loop where even your gait is altered and only makes the imbalances worse. The only fix is to basically start from ground zero and work on soft tissue work, posture, and retraining your movement patterns. Blake has AMAZING videos for this, but it's a long journey to find out what specifically is wrong with your own body as you've likely adapted to issues that are unique to you. The pelvis, glute function, and the core function seem to be the major contributors. Tight QL muscles, tight greater trochanter area, external rotation of the hips (especially in athletes), lack of tranversus abdominis activation, lack of thoracic mobility, poor glute function, Anterior pelvic tilt, Tight IT band and outter quad....these are the issues I've had to work on. It can take a lot of time, but when you feel your body starting to normalize it feels AMAZING. I don't care about lifting weights and such with how much better I feel.

    Thank you for this channel!! I really wish I had found your channel sooner!! I'm in such a rut and not sure where to even start anymore. It is really overwhelming and depressing. I am flat footed and yes my knees knock in and I'm pretty sure I have a lateral and or anterior pelvic tilt. I have been to several doctors and chiropractors and no one has really been able to help me, and I am now scheduled to have surgery on my knee on the 29th of May for a femoral osteotomy. Which now I'm thinking I need to back out of and maybe find someone who can help me with these issues. I also have a lopsided glute and all the other signs and symptoms that you have mentioned in your video's. I'm so tired of being in pain and I'm way too young for all this. I recently started physical therapy which has helped tremendously, but now noticing a new problem in my foot which now I'm thinking has to be a trickle down effect due to some of these underlying other problems I have. Anyway too much info sorry for the rant just wanted to say thanks cause I watched some of the videos and they make alot of sense to me!! God Bless

    This was a great video! Thanks! For me, it's hit the spot exactly with my flat feet! I'll be checking out the videos you mentioned, in the description, for the arch building exercises. Do you think wobble boards are good for helping stabilizing muscles from flat-foot-caused lateral pelvic tilt? Basically, my right foot is super flat (left too but not as much) and my left hip is higher, and now I know why! Turns out, over time, apparently my left si joint got 'fused' or didn't have a lot of motion, and now that my chiropractor's getting movement back in there, my psoras or gluteus medius on my left always 'tickles' as if it's stabbed with a knife. I've seen many other videos, including many of yours, but this is the first one that showed me it's my right flat foot affecting my left high hip. Thanks again!

    I think one cause you didn’t mention is a screwy visual system. If you are too right eye dominant then you aren’t sensing the ground on the left correctly. Essentially it’s sloping down. This causes you to not trust the ground on the left and tighten up there causing lateral pelvic tilt. One way to test for folks that have this is look to your right does your left side tighten up when you do and when you look to your left does your left side relax?

    I remember I used to have some horrible pain in my left foot and ankle up until a couple of years ago and it was due to arch drop. I started using shoes with arch support and I no longer felt so much pain when walking. I subsequently had a gluteus medius/piriformis injury and I know my QL started tightening up like hell, so did my adductors. I soon felt a leg discrepancy, the right right leg feeling like a wooden, long leg. With exercises I started to walk just fine and although I dont feel different when I walk, visually, the left hip is lower. I now wonder whether I've had that lateral pelvic tilt for way longer than my injury, and potentially that even caused the injury itself. I'll give the foot exercises a go and see what happens. Thanks for the video :D

    I have no idea what is wrong with my pelvis...a chiropractor told me I have a twisted pelvis but I never went back to see him again. A physiotherapist told me I had a slight anterior tilt. My left shoulder is definitely lower than my right and when I place my fingers on my hips my left hip seems slightly higher. I lean to in my right side when sleeping and watching tv so it makes sense to have hip hike on my left side but.... all my pain and tightness is on my right side! Including my glute medius, tfl, lower back, hip flexors I’m even getting trapezius pain and have a lot of trigger points around my right shoulder... my left side with hip hike seems ok??. A little confused with what is going on! Not sure the best person to see chiropractor or physiotherapist?. Another thing I have noticed is my back looks slightly more posterior tilt and left side more anterior when looking in the mirror😀

    In certain types of baseball swings, they emphasize a Lateral tilt, so in order to get into this position,
    I should have my FRONT hip above my REAR hip correct? I can achieve this by tilting my pelvis?
    Thank you in advance! You are the man Blake!

    Hi Blake, do you have any videos (or could you make a video) addressing a pelvic twist? So basically if I stand with my feet parallel - facing forward - the right side of my hip is also pointed forward, the left side is pulled back, I’ve noticed that my left thigh is really tight as well and that there is slight low back pain on the right side
    Thank you for all of your videos, please keep it up!

      I have the same issue. It seems the right pelvic bone is rotated forward and the left backward which might be because of tighter quads/hip flexor in the right side than left and tighter hamstring/glute in the left side than right. A video would be awesome. I also have Left SI joint pain.

    I have exactly that on one side and it did jua that wat yu said! Awsome! I was told to get orthotics, but I guess I cud do both, it won't hurt..
    The thing is I'm going to a chiropractor who's trying to adjust my pelvic bac in line, plus I'm getting massages to loosen muscle tension.. Does all this sound bout rite?

    Thank you very much for this video. I think it’s what I have as my right shoulder goes down and have pain in the right leg in places of rotations. But, I’m afraid it’s not the only rotation of pelvis I have as my right hip goes forward when standing straight or up when laying on my back. Are you able to make a video on addressing tilting of singe hips forward? Many thanks

    Hello
    I have been told by my chiropractor that I have anterior and lateral pelvic tilt. I started visiting her because I started getting an unusual issue. Having had chronic back problems on and off for twenty years I just put up with the pain but two years ago I started to not be able to tolerate any different footwear at all aside from the ones I was wearing prior to this problem.
    Could lateral pelvic tilt be the cause? I get really tight SI area, tightness up my spine and under shoulder blades in response to different footwear after just a few minutes, then I have to put up with the soreness for at least a day.
    Please give me your thoughts, thanks

    Do you think that drumming could cause a lateral pelvic tilt? I drum with my right kick drum and my right hip is lower than my left, which has been causing extreme pain when running for almost a year now - so I'm no longer running - but doing yoga and still drumming.

    GuerillaZen thank you. Would you agree that tightness of the psoas muscle, and, specifically, uneven tightness of the left and right psoas, could cause one hip to tilt in / rise? And that MF rolling on the psoas can help greatly?

      crystal make sure your ligaments or tendons r not damaged in and around right si joint. I felt a pop in mine years ago and havent been the same since. I used a heel lift for years which helped for a bit. I am going for prolotherapy on those torn ligaments n tendons in a month in that si joint so i will let u know how it works back on this site. Try a si joint belt in the meantime...it helps alot.

    You say a flat foot can cause problems up the chain but is it possible to develop the lateral tilt followed by a dropped arch? Couldn't the glute become inhibited from lateral tilt to cause the arch drop or is this not really a possibility?

    Hi there, I believe Im suffering from what u call an anterior pelvic tilt. I recently got an MRI and the orthopedic in charge claims im experiencing early stages of slip disc and currently undergoing physio treatment to strengthen my back.
    Your video have convinced that my slip disc is probably a secondary problem im facing and that im not getting the best of treatments. Could u please advise on whom do i see as a specialist in this area? Is it a chiropractor? Or any advise that u can point out to me?

    Dose this apply if you have been flat footed for years? At this point I been flat footed since high school and have been training ever since. Currently have a hamstring imbalance where my left side of definitely activating more during any kinda of deadlift really also during the lift my right foot starts to rotate out to compensate. I have restored to doing a lot more single leg hamstring work & while it's reduced it's definitely still present. Sorry for the long post btw

    The machine at Wal-Mary analyzed my feet. It told me that I have low arches aka flat feet. I believe this itself is causing many spinal and hip and buttock problems. I am 48.5 years old and having to re-enter the workforce to eat now. I'm getting physical therapy on my lower back and hips. That may end soon. I don't have the money to purchase orthotics. So can you show me the foot and ankle exercises in a video? Can a person my age rebuild arches?

    could a pelvic tilt cause a collapsed arch? I have collapsed arch on my right foot only, it always likes to point outward. This is also the ankle that I've sprained the most. I've been doing foot/ankle strengthing drills but its a slow journey for sure. Thanks for the video

    what if i start sleeping with my right side down. Will it fix my uneven hips?...

    • @stephenmichael3211
      @stephenmichael3211 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      FBI it will help to reduce it but it won't fix it for sure. You need to strengten certain muscles and change your habit to fix it permenantly.
      How can you expect people to trust you if you have a habit of lying? Changing your habit that contribute to it is the key to fix it.
