- After World War II, where humans wiped out three percent of the world's population, global leaders began discussing the idea of having one world government to avoid repeating the mistakes made over the previous 25 years.
The idea quickly fizzled out, but they might have been on to something. What problems could this solve? Who would be put in charge? And how could it all go terribly wrong?

This idea might be a bit too late for Earth, but I can see this working out once humans have settled on Mars, most likely this type of global unification would happen there, but its still quite some time away.
Nah, very likely it could end up being the opposite. Being so far away from each other even on earth itself leads to new identities and groups forming. With other planets the process would accelerate. To the point different humans in different planets end up forming their own separate identities.

Sometimes I imagine sitting down with someone that is most opposite of me possible and ask him if we're really that different. Our own inventions are keeping us from advancing to the next stage of civilization.
80%of the world can relate with each other about 95% of their lives. The other twenty percent of people rule the world.
Differences are natural and healthy. People like to say « we are not different » because they know it is an inconvenient yet undeniable truth.
It makes people feel fuzzy inside lol but these same people conflate differences with conflict. This is not necessarily true. We can embrace our natural differences without being under conflict. Just like your neighbors like to live a certain way in their own home, with walls surrounding them and locked doors .. doesn’t automatically equate to them being your enemy. Just friendly neighbors.

Telling people what to do does not necessarily lead to compliance. Furthermore who is the moral arbiter of truth that determines what is backwards and what is not? There is no objective standard and then you have to wrestle with people to find one when they could just ditch you and live how they want isolated from you. Ethics is a debated topic in philosophy for centuries or millennia. You will not find a satisfying solution that appeals to all. Try telling muslims about your view on homosexuality (if you are pro lgbtq) and see where that leads
It is a pipe dream. it will not work and never work. Furthermore there are endangered and smaller cultures who would be on the mercy of the majority and could easily be ethnically replaced and their culture could be wiped out by demographics

I believe in the idea of having the world as a single country under a federal structure. Here, the provinces would be replaced by countries and all together would choose a central govt which has both upper house(of nominees from countries) and lower house chosen by the people.

2:38, why majority of the people think that nuclear energy is so horrible? It is better than burning coals and other fossil fuels. It doesn't have dire drawbacks as other sources whereas the by
products can be fatal. However, it is tackled with good initiatives and precaution.
The biggest problem with nuclear energy is the deposition of nuclear waste. Plus, if anything goes wrong, you're pretty much screwed.

Positive: Tourists can go anywhere in the world without passports
Negative: Smugglers can sell drugs anywhere without any customs checking
Positive: All people feels United
Negative: United without understanding each other, due to different language
Positive: Sharing of economic resources
Negative: Flow of counterfeit money and rise of black economy

Positive: At first, it looks like a great idea, heaven

I think some extent of global government would be beneficial, such as consistently enforcing laws everywhere that protect basic human rights such as human trafficking being cracked down on everywhere including places that don't normally have a consistent form of government to enforce those laws. There is definitely a balance though, because we want to preserve diversity and allow all countries to have their own values as long as the values don't violate basic human rights which could become a very gray area.

@@h-m4869 At this time it is difficult to say who would be the right people for such a job as there has been so much corruption in the least expected places by the most trusted people. This would definitely involve a very long process with many checks and balances to make sure that the right people are involved and that those people don't become the wrong people. Definitely those who care about justice above personal gain on all levels including the deepest darkest ones.
I feel that a global governance is the way forward, while allowing various cultures to be preserved. Just like in the US.

The main reason we humans have flourished over other species is because we have the power to work together and combine all our efforts to make something big. And it makes absolute sense for us to become united. Also if we are united then there is no reson to go to war as the main reason for war is the greed for more resources and if we were to have a world govt we would be able to extract all the resources collectively and then distribute evenly or as per the requiremnets .
Also we have shown throughout history that it is something completely natural that we have even worked to achieve historically. As we can see that from the start humans tried to live together and united by making tribes and then with the invention of wheels and we being able to reach more places we created kingdoms and recently with trains and stuff of the sort we have established nations. So we can clearly seen the desire in humans to unite with as much people as they can reach. And now with technolgy we can finally reach everywhere and everyone so it just makes sense to make the world a united place.
