A light beam travels slower in water than it does in vacuum. At 1:06 you mention that light speed is a constant, equal to all observers, which is true, but you imply that, contrary to light, sound speed depends on the density of the medium it travels. This is true for light as well as it is for sound.
Matías Marguirot not quite. the reason light is going slower through water is because the light gets repelled and reflected from the water molecules, that means light only appears slower since it has to go a longer way to get from a to b Edit: apparently i wrote bunch of nonsense, my apologies. Apparently light really slows down, through it’s property as an wave
Simple...light contracts while sound expands everything around them or a way to put it...everything bends around light to keep its speed constant(see Lorentz Transformation) while sound is just “a wave that obeys its surroundings” like ocean waves...Sound= wave and light=wave/particle....particle bends space time no matter how small it is now apply that to a massless particle you end up contracting space time around it...with the extra benefit of being both

That means we could travel anywhere on earth in 1 sec since light speed is 299 792 458 m / s that means u could travel 6 times around the world if ur light speed/ftl/mftl in 1 sec
Why would talking with someone be so slow if we are like 1 meter away if the light travels at 343 m/s... It wouldn't make a huge difference... And if light and speed switched places it doesn't mean we can't go to space because we can't reach the speed of light, they switched spaces so now we can't go ONLY faster than the sound...
I think his hypothesis implies that also all the other laws of physics still work. So if the light travels at the speed of 343 m/s it should be the fastest particle as for the law of Dynamics a=f/m the bigger the mass the harder it is to accelerate. The light having simply 0 mass has to be 10000 faster than us
They took the concept of spacetime wrong. The space and time are not in any form related to light in their entity. The time passes the same for us when light photons travel through a thick medium, a jelly substance, it may affect the lifespan of photons as the time passes faster for them but the jelly and the observer will not be affected by this. The universe would be almost the same as it is. A photon would have a lifespan of 10000000000 of our years. A million times shorter than normal.

So happy you published this one. My son is 10th, and he sent you a question just like this one few month ago. He was constantly looking the videos to see if his "What if" made it to the channel. Now he thinks that this one was done because of him :)!! You just made his day!!!! and he's so proud about it. This is a great show, and it's always making him think out of the box! I'm sure the show is building a lot of future scientist!!
Yeah he did skip over that part. I think it's something to do with the fact that the closer to the speed of light you get, the exponentially higher the energy required to get to that speed is, so if the speed of light were to be slowed down by a factor of about 875,000 , energy required to go the same speeds we usually do would be wayyy higher, therefore the speed that stuff happens at would be much slower. I'm not a physicist, so take my words with a grain of salt.
Tom ow I’m pretty sure that since the speed of light isn’t what defines the maximum achievable speed in the universe, it simply reaches that speed, everything would still be at a normal speed. You can tell that he’s not a physicist because he didn’t spend 20 minutes stating assumptions but it makes it difficult to figure out his exact interpretation of the title of the video.
If this happened, I think you would still be able to walk and even run at roughly the same speed we do (Ignoring that “what I am assuming” sound would probably tear everything apart), as I believe that you would have to get close enough to the speed of light for the effects to be major enough to make things go noticeably slower then they would here (You sure wouldn’t have to worry about sound, vibrations/etc slowing you down either as they just might give you a boost, but then again, like I said, at that speed, we, along with probably pretty much if not everything else would probably be torn apart. This new speed for sound would probably cause time and space to go wonked, making our 3D dimension into a part of the forth as sound would be traveling so much faster then light (Unless of course, you didn’t change the speed of causality to our current speed of sound, in which case, the speed of everything else should remain with the same roughly 300000KM/sec mark limit). I am not Einstein, but with this light speed change in mind (If causality was also reduced to this), would cars still be able to go at close to the same speed as they do here? Also, it would be pretty freaky looking in the distance seeing the past so readily as well as the blue/in front and red behind lighting effect. Seeing Mars, the other planets, and who knows how far out, yup, interesting stuff for sure :)
Ok, first off; The speed of light isn’t the speed of light, it’s actually the speed of causality 3.0 x 10^8 m/s, which is the speed it takes for any parts of the universe to talk to each other or the only speed any massless particle can travel within a vacuum. Photons, Gravitational waves, and gluons all have no mass, meaning their speed is 3.0 x 10^8 m/swithin a vacuum. Mass is an impediment to motion, meaning without mass objects within the universe go as fast as possible. Second the speed of a photon is always constant in a vacuum, but that velocity can also differ through various mediums, such as water or glass. And last I apologize if I appear to be rude, those were not my intentions. Your content is always so interesting, even if you don’t quite get the science right, you make us question the very nature of reality and the universe, and that’s the very essence of science or something like that... I’m no physicist just someone who knows a little about a lot, but Good job
You know, even tho that's not the whole reason..... It is still "technically" true. It's like when you swim in the ocean and come out all wet. You've removed water from the ocean, so technically the sea level is now lower as a result. Insignificant, but still technically true.
Breaking the light barrier would probably just be a massive flash of light then the person breaking the limit would just see strings of lights, but they would be able to hear themselves say “sweeeet”
The speed is constant but the path it takes is longer thus why they say the speed is lower. In reality tho the speed is constant. I am referring to n = c/v, index of refraction. Imagine going straight through air but then you enter a diamond for example, you would bounce off, with incident changing with a new refracted ree.
@@paladin1147 No, it is not constant. Speed of light changes as it goes from one medium to another. The formula you are referring to, n = c/v, here c is the velocity of light in vacuum (which is a universal constant) and v is it's velocity in that medium.

Technically you're wrong light is a constant by nature until it interactions with something. Sound is never constant always changing due to its environment.
Im pretty sure you can leave the earths atmosphere at any speed. What you are talking about is the escape velocity of the atmosphere wich is the initial speed an object must have to reach space (nothing happens to the object after launching it). However a rocket can keep its upward force and if it had enough power to go up and can maintain it, it will eventually leave the atmosphere, even if it travels only 1 km/u.
What does light have to do with time and gravity??? Objects and photons are 2 different things. You will only see and incredible delay between actions. And the sound will feel much faster traveling and sound incredibly higher (probably to the point we can't hear it), the universe don't break down... This is why: Imagine little dots hitting objects all the time, one dot hits an object and a nanosecond later another dot hits the same object at the exact same angle. This rule applies for all objects, and for the universe. Now. You move your leg while looking at it. The dots that hit you leg while your leg wasn't moved are still moving towards your eyes, while the dots hitting your (now moved) leg now changed colour, position, angle and almost everything. When the old dots finished hitting your eyes, the other dots (from when you moved your leg) immediately start hitting your eyes too. The only difference is that light will take longer to travel towards your eyes, causing the delay between actions. Rockets still could reach space, we would see the rocket 5km behind, although the rocket is 5km forward. Light particles are only objects, used to visualise other objects. When a light particle (photon) hits an object, it changes properties, and reflects off of that object. If there were no photons (let's just say that that doesn't affect the universe anyhow), the objects would still be there, we just couldn't visualise them.
The fact that everything in nature and this planet itself in order for us to exist is just too perfect, really amazes me (ofc aside from us humans sometimes destroying it..)
If we did live long enough to hear something, would it be louder since it would be traveling faster and would have less time before it reached your ears? Like, if you have a speaker, the closer it is to your ear the louder it is. But if it was traveling faster, would it last longer and therefore be louder by the time it got to your ears?
There's absolutely no reason why we should be slow if the speed of light becomes 365 meters per second.. The only effects would be that looking at a long distance make you see the past, I mean on earth.
But also the earth would collapse into a black hole, because the escape velocity of earth would be far higher than the speed of light, and that is what happens with black holes.
Well you are talking about switching constants for gravity and electric force. Changing constant likes these will break the balance in universe and everything is destroyed. But universe will probably find a new balanced state and start functioning again.
Particles/anything with mass can't travel at the speed of light but sound is not a particle. It's a wave. A wave would be able to exist if the speed of sound and light were switched right?

Maybe universes go through evolution and the ones where the constants are perfectly balanced *are the ones that survive*
What if I thought this might be about MARVEL's What If😅😅
So basically flash is faster than quicksilver lol hahahahahahaha
What does light have to do with time and gravity??? Objects and photons are 2 different things. You will only see and incredible delay between actions.
And the sound will feel much faster traveling and sound incredibly higher (probably to the point we can't hear it), the universe don't break down...
This is why:
Imagine little dots hitting objects all the time, one dot hits an object and a nanosecond later another dot hits the same object at the exact same angle.
Ur subscribers are also increasing as the speed of light...😊😂
The speed of light is only constant in a vacuum.
It slows down in any other medium

Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright, until they start talking.

Did anyone ask
I love this channel.. and the random questions they come up with lol
I hope you understand that more of what he says is wrong you can still like his video but do go telling people facks you learnt from it
sound always travels faster than light sometimes in video games.
Light is the fastest force
Thanks for making a video on my WHAT IF

there will be such some chemical impacts that would make life in earth different that what we see now

The fact that everything in nature and this planet itself in order for us to exist is just too perfect, really amazes me (ofc aside from us humans sometimes destroying it..)
That means everything has been engineered to perfection for us to be able to survive.

3:21 Mr. Stark, I don't feel so good...
A new sub..... From India watched this video like a 4 times
Then the concorde would be a time machine because it travels faster than light
im just imagining a plane becoming invisible after hitting sonic boom
what if universal gravitational constant and the proportionality constant 'k' in coulomb's law switched 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Well you are talking about switching constants for gravity and electric force. Changing constant likes these will break the balance in universe and everything is destroyed. But universe will probably find a new balanced state and start functioning again.
@@desivichar1971 that changes is what I was wondering about 🙄
Particles/anything with mass can't travel at the speed of light but sound is not a particle. It's a wave. A wave would be able to exist if the speed of sound and light were switched right?
2:05 We can move at great speeds like 400mph but , we wont be able to see it , i think.
That's what I was thinking, physical movement isn't dictated by the speed of light, just how you perceive that movement, or at least I think so haha
Wow it was much deeper than i thought. I thought it would be just thunder before the lightning. That's it.
What’s faster than the speed of light?
Speed of sight
Actually speed of sight is due to speed of light
So we are not gonna talk about the light rays coming from the sun
*_What if the speed of light is infinite?_*
We're assuming that the speed of light cannot be exceeded, but we don't know that, lol
It somthing has the mass of the square root of a negative then it can travels farster
