  • What do you think about this music? Probably you may think that this is too classical, or even it is too old-fashioned, or too boring. But do you know, when was this music written? Was it in 1820s? Or 1800s? NO! This music was composed by Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809), entitled "IL MONDO DELLA LUNA (The World Of The Moon), and it is his last comique opera (or called Opera Buffa), composed in 1777.
Oh, come on, when was 1777? Johann Sebastian Bach lived until 1750, Georg Friedrich Händel lived until 1759, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in 1756, and until the year 1777, Mozart has composed 11 operas, including: Lucio Silla, La finta giardiniera (The pretend garden-maid), Il re pastore (The Shepherd King), Thamos, König in Ägypten (Thamos, King of Egypt). However, his first MATURED opera, was Idomeneo, composed in 1780-81. Moreover, Ludwig van Beethoven was born in 1770.
So, in other words, this music was composed just about 27 years after J. S. Bach's death, and 18 years after G. F. Händel's death, which marked the end of the Baroque period, and the starting of the Rococo period (after 1750, up to about 1775). WOW! During this period, opera music was still uncertain and under reformation (one of the first opera reformator was Christoph Willibald Gluck (1714-1787). Gluck introduced more drama by using orchestral recitative and cutting the usually long da capo aria. His later operas have half the length of a typical baroque opera.
Indeed, Haydn was a gift from God, his birth year was towards the end of the Baroque period (1732), starting of the Rococo period, Classical period, and his death was in 1809, which ALREADY in the beginning of the Romantic period (started not long after the outbreak of the French Revolution in 1794). Although his early years, even until 1791, were considered as his experiment years, when he never stopped doing experiments, revisions, reformations, refinements, perfections. And this particular opera: "Il Mondo della Luna", was composed in 1777, YET, in this Finale of the Act 2, was written by Haydn with such perfection that, it seems to me that the music is so lively, exuberant, grand, elegant, and typically like the palace music, which indeed, Haydn had served at Esterházy Palace for 36 years (from age 27 to 63), until the death of Prince Anton Esterházy in 1795.
In conclusion, everyone of us in this world, whether you believe it or not, have been predestined by God and in everyone of us, there have been God's own intention and purpose, and we have to discover and explore what is God's agenda and vision that has been or going to be revealed to us, and how should we co-operate to become His best partner or buddy.
Hope that you appreciate and enjoy this great music and respond to God's mysterious yet amazing Agenda in everyone of us! Please feel free to leave some comments and what you think about this Haydn's great music! Thank you very much! May God bless you all abundantly!
