- WHAT A SURPRISE MEETING A CANADIAN FILIPINO FAMILY ON THIS ISLAND IN SAMAR!
I woke up in Borongan City, Eastern Samar, and headed out to find food. There is a great carinderia along the main road.... and from there I head to the boulevard with Bret. He wanted to go for a surf, and I wanted to check out an island called "Ando". And so I did! This island is just wonderful! In this video you will see a little bit of local island life here in Eastern Samar. From experiencing unique fruits, to chatting with the locals, to seeing the beautiful coastal areas...
What a beautiful day in Eastern Samar.
Still can't believe I randomly bumped into a Filipino Canadian Family who lives in the Yukon!
Power On!

I am part Boholano and Boronganon(grew up in Bohol, but my Mother is from Borongan), watching these past few vlogs of yours made me miss the place so much. I worked there for 6 months last year as a visiting Doctor at the Provincial Hospital. In those past 6 months, not only did I come to realize that the waray people are Strong and resilient, but also very caring and warm loving people. I miss serving them and cant wait to go back again this Holiday season. I always say to my peers there is magic in Samar, and its not only by the beautiful nature it offers, but also to the people who call the place home. Thank you Kulas 💯
Ako rin Tatay ko taga Pilar Bohol at Nanay ko taga Borongan
Kyle, thank you for loving the Philippines and the Filipinos, and for your appreciation of the Filipino cuisine. We love you.❤
SAMAR LEYTE NEVER DISAPPOINT❤❤❤❤ HAVE A SAFE TRAVEL KULAS AND BRET...🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
if you want to know where the best karinderia any where in the philippines, the trick is to look where the public utility drivers go and where the people flock
It's true...if you notice that there's a lot of taxi or tricycle parked in front of a carenderia...and the place is full of drivers you can be sure that the food there is good and the price is reasonable.
❤❤❤ thank u so much for visiting my native land, such an honor indeed! U been such an amazing guy & your companions exploring the whole Philippines island. I loved all your vlogs. God bless
Watching from Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA. I was born and raised in Sabang South, Borongan, Eastern Samar but I’ve never been to Ando Island. Someday I hope. Thanks Kulas for featuring my hometown. Be safe always. God Bless.
I can feel how much you wanted to visit Canada again after talking to that couple. Look forward to seeing that. That little island is beautiful. 😁

Carenderia food is really delicious! And affordable!
Kulas, thanks for this amazing vlog! I can totally relate how wonderful & kind the people from Samar, Philippines because my dad was from Samar. I have so many cousins from Samar, ( the Durans ), but never really got acquainted with most of them. Life has put us into different trajectories of life! Sad, but that's how life is! Thanks Kulas, this vlog is closer to my heart ! Take care, & enjoy your journeys!

Your vlog is out of this world
The way you intertain filipino, for me is pure
Coming from your heart I believe..
I'll be spending 7 days in Borongan City from South Texas in March 2024. Super excited.
I stayed at Pirates Cove Resort in 2013 which was, and maybe still is, owned by and American. He had come to the Philippines in the 1960s looking for the best surf spots. He told me that due to the Pacific and the the islands off shore that Borongon had the best surf spots in the Philippines. So if you are a surfer head there. Power On.
You continue to impress me with your latest travels Samar is beautiful , props to Samar thanks kabayan , shout-out from On . Ca .
Hi Kulas! We've been following your vlogs. Taking my kids to visit the Philippines (Motherland!) for the first time. We're SO excited! My eleven year old's wish is to "go on an island that is small enough that I can run around the edge of it in a complete circle!" I thought, "Let's ask Kulas! He'll know where to find an island like that." 😄 Please give us some ideas of where to go. You would make this boy's dream come true! I don't know any Filipino who knows the Philippines better than you. I wish you could lead us there yourself! 🤔 Then I got this great idea that you should start your own tour guide business. You can vet locals tourists like me can hire as trusted guides in different parts of the Philippines. Just a thought and a wish! Thank you for reminding me how amazing the Philippines and the Filipinos are! 😍
What a good place!

Wow,nice place in Samar keep safe always kulas❤
Nice kulas thats is my province
Kyle, that is a star fruit or “balimbing.” You can snack on it. Others would dip it in salt if it is sour but it can be sweet sometimes, when very ripe. It is juicy and others would put them in sinigang, to make the soup sour. Nice community. Thank you and Power On!
amazing ❤
It’s really amazing everytime you eat in the karinderia! How you react when you taste the food it’s like it’s always your first time to try it! Nagutom lugod ako 😂 Paghinay pirmi sa iyo paglakawon! Super apir! 🎉❤

😂😂😂😂 grabe laag pa more
Balimbing (Tagalog name, Balingbing in Bisaya) is star fruit or carambola in English. It is actually closely related to Kamias (or Iba), those very sour fruits which look like tiny cucumbers. They are used in the same way in sour soups. We had balimbing trees growing up. Ours were sweet when ripe though, but yes, very sour when green. Like all sour fruits, we commonly ate them with salt.
Balimbing. Star fruit. Many local names Kulas.
Lezzz go!!!
Kulas you are in borongan please go visit also in guian last town in eastern samar
"Trust in the Universe ... and it will take care of you." -- Kulas' mantra ... This vlog is proof of that, Kyle. 👍🏻🤙
It's amusing to see you tried to learn the waray2 language ( dialect) Kulas. Just a small tip: Good afternoon in Waray is ...maupay NGA kulop. Not maupay NA kulop. Keep safe Kulas and Bret
Good afternoon is "Maupay nga Kulop" :)
Aga is for the morning po.
@@BecomingFilipino yes you're right. Sorry for my mistake in translation coz my focus is on the word NGA instead of NA.
Another one is good evening in Waray is maupay nga gab-i.
In Spanish that star fruit is called ; Caremelo and tastes kinda like a watery apple.
Go to Dolores Hilabaan Eastern Samar it's cool there with Pacific ocean
Luvit!💖
Balimbing❤
Kulas❤
Amping❤
Our Food in samar is a bit bland in saltiness because we use (Kuyog, Ginamos, Hipon, Sisi, just to name a few) and most of our food are simple but fresh. Like fish, veg or Carabeef etc 4:45

As they sa Kulas: It's a small world and the peoples of the world are actually related or has something in common, you just have to talk to discover that. Thankfully you are tabi-an Kulas, you discover quirks in our connections easily. :)
Kulas , visit me one day in Montreal !

The fruit you eat is really a star fruit it’s called balimbing in tagalog
18:33 yes its starfruit, its called balimbing in tagalog
Samar is really underrated
You had a star fruit it is related to bilimbi or cucumber tree or Kamias and it is sort of like sweet or sour 🍋➡🥒🥒🥒
And it taste like a peach 🍋➡🍑
And you had a banana heart or banana blossom in the eatery 🍌🍑
And the banana cue that you had was crispy much more caramel coating 🍌🍌
And they plant sweet potatoes in the yard 🍠🍠🍠🌿🌿🌿
You are walking in the woods like Tarzan 🌳🌳🌳
And they even had a lemon tree near the port and the lemons are really big 🌳🍋🍋🍋
And you even had a buko or coconut water in the yard 🥥💦💧
The fruit is balimbing, I guess it is related to the similar iba.
