    As someone who mourns the loss of hats as a staple wardrobe item, and equates unadorned heads with a decline of culture and society, I am so happy to see such a great tutorial on how a simple classy little hat can be made so easily! 😊

      the only way we can get people to wear hats again is WEAR them ourselves. there are no rules anywhere that says we cant. not like the old days where there were rules of dress everywhere. - love hats WEAR THEM>. and have fun. people will be delighted and a wee bit jealous of you..

    I love these little hats and didnt realise they were so simple to make (I probably just never thought about how lol!). I will be making a couple because they look so classy and add that authentic touch to vintage inspired outfits. This particular style is seen a lot in vintage pictures, with flowers or feathers. Its great! Thank you!

    love this! I love how you actually sewed it and not hot glued the hat. It makes it looks so classy. This last year was my first time making half hats for my daughters outfits(I also sewed them). I love half hats and have decided to make my own. This is a perfect hat and exactly what I was wanting. I shall have to create one. I didn't use wire on my hats, but I will do that next time because it gives it a nicer structured frame.

    I like how you presented all of the items needed and I have decided that I shall call the center brace the central twist. Don't know why.
    It is hard to find hats like these so I think it is very neat that you made your own and I love that your husband doesn't mind lending a hand.
    How long did it take you to hand sew the sides?
    Also adore the details in how you stitched the flowers.
    My favorite hot tea is rooibos and my favorite cold is taro bubble tea 😄
    The craftsmanship in the hat was amazing 😲 I definitely wanna give it a go.

    I am going to have to make one myself now - I’ve been looking for a set of decent instructions for a half-hat all day and you have exceeded everything else I have seen by double, so thank you! Also - favorite tea will always be a warm mug of plain, smooth Ceylon tea :)

      LittleAntiqueMe I certainly will do! In fact a question for you now - if one did not have a fusable interfacing at hand, do you think a thin but sturdy buckram or something would make an ok replacement? Sewn on first to the hat base and then fashion fabrics applied over the top?

    • @littleantiqueme8714
      @littleantiqueme8714  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that would work just as well! I would just make sure it is attached tightly to the frame so that the outer fabric lays flat across it! Let me know how it works, I may have to try it myself! ❤️

    Hi, thank you for sharing on how to make this beauty! How does it stay on the head if let’s say, you’re wearing to a party with lots of dancing and moving around? Also, how thick is the wire? Thank you again 🙏❤️

    • @littleantiqueme8714
      @littleantiqueme8714  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! You’re welcome, thank you for watching! There are a couple of options. You could sew hair combs or clips on the inside to attach it to your hair. You could also use Bobby pins to secure the ends of the hat to your hair. Lastly, and this is my favorite, you could sew a piece of super thin elastic from end to end. You can put the elastic under your hair and it will hold the hat in place.

      You are most welcome! This is a good question. If possible, I would measure from ear, over the top of her head, and base the shape off of that. The nice thing about the wire is it is adjustable, so it could be snug or less snug. I hope this helps!
