Nah man, the music was cool, having the sound of rain and the epic music that practically changed with the players' moves was amazing. It adds a lot of hype to the match, and I don't think it covered your voice at any point, I could always hear and understand you. You should do more of this! PS : What were these OST, where can I find them xD?
The "drunken Battle Copter" at 19:56 was actually a really smart play, Laska was using it to scout the woods so that the mech could come down and attack the infantry in front of the artillery without getting trapped. Better that a 2 HP Battle Copter gets (potentially) trapped rather than a full health Sami Mech during Victory March.
Heipmaster here! Didn't think I would get featured in a vid, but I am honoured nonetheless. So just some of my thoughts here. Firstly LaskaLarnar played really well. I was on my toes for the whole match after seeing his Global League MMR since I only ever played one match my entire career there. 8:24 That was a classic Mangs infantry there, but my reason for that was based on my vision, I was trying to guess where he was on the map. And seeing those neutral properties on the left side, I thought he went mainly for the centre and the right side, and didn't have as much on the left. I was wrong and was punished for that by losing that infantry and a city. Lesson learnt there, don't overextend! I did want to try and establish dominance against Sami early on to try and mitigate as much of her Victory March damage as possible when it comes later on, but that was too aggressive. 10:25 I was anticipating a fighter to come out in the late game because I later realised B-Copters and Infantry were the main way to avoid the rain penalty. So I tried to have AA ready for when it does come since rain makes it hard to traverse and catch them. 11:25 That mech really earned itself in. Initially, he was there because I was gonna use him to fight if infantry came down to my cities, and to also occupy the woods in case any sneaky Sami infantry try to sit there and wait for a victory march to come and snag all my properties away. But then I noticed, oh look, that's a lot of road there. And at some point, I did see a glimpse of a recon in my vision I think. So he became a guard. 16:24 Yes, the rain made it so hard to front switch. B-copters and infantry were key here to take engagements, but I still needed some tanks and arty to combat enemy AA and such. 20:12 The replay didn't show it straight away, but remember what I said about sneaky Sami infantry waiting in the woods for that Victory March moment. Yeah, surprise! Also why there is a black boat on my port. The black boat actually became useful in repairing an arty later. That's all I remember from this match. It was so great to play this mostly live! Thank you Mangs for hosting this tournament, Deejus for his video on teaching me how to "terrorise" with transports, and LaskaLarnar for being a great opponent!
I was kinda thinking you were screwed with how many properties Laska took in the early game, but you brought it back. Kindle definitely worked out well for you. Great match!
Laska here ! Tough match; it was very interesting (while very hard) to battle like this under the constant rain ; as you said I wanted to get an income avantage from the beginning, thinking like "tank move as infanterie under rain". Well, not exactely it appeared. Also my adversary had beautiful counterplay, and Kindle can be so effective on this map ! Even if you play Samy kids, don't push too hard, or you will have no army for the mictory march ! Thank you Mangs for the tournament; hope there will be an other one one day ♫
Well played! Honestly going in I thought Sami was an odd choice, but the plays you made showed that she can definitely work here! Kindle is certainly a tough one, though.
Yo Mangs, Replay Player Dev here. At 9:30 you mentioned having a bit of trouble with colourblindness here, did you know that you could change the country of a player by right clicking them in the player list? Hopefully there is a combination or two there that could make things easier to see. (Same for unit facing direction.) Also if you have any other issues with colourblindness in the program, I would like to hear about it! BTW I put it onto my list to add a tile cursor (Kinda like the selection outline for when a unit moves but on whatever tile you are hovering) into the replay viewer because of 3:15, That should make it easier to highlight where the cursor is. Also, do you like the rain? :3
Advance Wars has the most courteous drivers in any video game ever. Even in the middle of a war a man driving a recon or a tank won't run over people standing on the road, they will stop, put their vehicle in park, and wait for the enemy to move out of the way.
I hope for this series you take a few games from each round not just one. Like i’d wanna see you cast a flak mirror in round 1 or an olaf game for this round
Agree, getting to see one of the Olaf matches would be neat. And since a later round is going to have a lot of Flak mirror matches I don't think we need to see one for Round 1.
Man Sami is already tough enough to play in regular fog, but in this rain fog with no vision against kindle is a true nightmare matchup, can't say I didn't see this outcome but Laska gave it a good shot.
While looking for info on the map, I found out that Lash's terrain cost reduction works even with the rain which I thought would help a lot especially with indirects given how vehicules are slowed by rain but I still lost to Kindle anyway (as Lash obviously). Few things that I learned though: Commiting in the middle is a mistake as the cities you gain in the middle do not compensate for the ones you are losing on the sides. (Mangs mentions this but the vid came out after I lost lel) Once your opponent gets a fighter to shoot down your BCopters, you HAVE to get a Fighter, don't try to bait it into your AA even with movement COs like Lash or Adder, it's just not worth losing 2-3 BCcopters (which amounts to 18-27K lost for 20K). Kindle is pretty much the strongest pick on this map not only for her firepower boost on cities which makes her caps extremely costly to interrupt with your own infantry which forces you to commit something more expensive like recons, tanks or BCopters which get punished hard. But also because her Urban Blight will constantly drain your funds even if you try to avoid building expensive units when it is ready and is a free interrupt when you cap, not to mention the 80% FP she gets on cities (90 with the tower like Mangs mentions) which leads to some devastating combos if you try to protect your cities with direct units like tanks or even infantries as we can see at 20:29 where Sami lost 35% of her unit value in a single turn. Honestly if your opponent picks Kindle and they know what they are doing you can very much expect an uphill battle. I felt represented when Laska went for the resign missile, got 3 myself , had fun blasting whatever air unit entered their range before resigning. But I did see many people pick different COs on this map (Andy, Sonja,Rachel etc) so maybe you'll be lucky and won't face a Kindle on that map. Good luck to those who are still in the tournament!
Also The Middle Cities are a terrible idea to try to take in the Mid/late game. those cities usually become shelled by a Battleship, so it's really hard to push through them.
@@kingkirbokid i’ve been making mock games using the official rules. There’s nothing stopping you from doing the same. You can still enjoy a game on the maps with the rules
yeah i tried it too, the extra vision + range attacks was rly helpful to destroy units on property, but the limited turn stopped my comeback after i screw up :P
This is pretty fun. When I was a kid my friend and I were really into dual strike. We probably weren't any good at it but moving our little guys around was so fun.
Mangs didn't comment on it since it was such a small thing in the middle of the match, but Heipmaster using the transport that had already moved to "boost" the infantry one extra square of movement is the sort of micro optimization stuff I love seeing players do. Also fantastic opener by Laska to rush those two middle properties since holding properties against Kindle as Sami is actually really hard due to how badly she slaps back. That early income hit offering the later economic boost is definitely how she was able to hold on for so long despite Kindle pushing all of her fronts basically.
early income hit? Laska was trailing on income the whole game until Victory March, but even that only evened them out. I don't think that really worked out for Laska.
Laska's biggest mistake and the biggest mistake of the match was to skip so many properties at the start. That just gave Heipmaster a huge advantage in units and income. And that resulted in Heipmaster being able to fight the battle with more resources at the beginning and make quite sone ground fast. Meanwhile Laska couldn't capitalize and owning contestec cities as Heipmaster just had more. That's why yoz should never skip to get to contested properries first. Your enemy will have more resources and you won't be able to hold of the counterattack.
(laska here) : Yup. Couldn't keep up the pace once he got all these artill and B-copter ; it was a bit of a gambit. While I thought that with the rain I would be more safe, at the end I couldn't capitalise on these little first lead in presence. Also, I should have seen that the numerous road on the right made tanks and artillerie pretty viable, something I didn't expect at the beginning =w=
I wonder if things would have gone differently if Laska had committed to getting both comm towers, had they not stopped to grab cities, they could have gotten both.
Is there a way to contact who works with you? I checked the list and it says both my opponent and I lost our match. I am LuxShade, I won my second match and checked the listing and it still says we both lost. I sent the replay again and hoping it can fix the issue
This makes two for two on the better CO getting the win. Will people keep losing the game in CO select? Or can the underdogs actually do something of merit for once? Stay tuned!
From what I can see, a mistake was in the macro. Moving in the Infantry to the middle is certainly a strategy but it came at the expense of forgoing early game caps which meant both fewer Battle Copters which led to being on the back foot for the air game (which was super important due to the rain) but also that the rain slowing everyone down seems like it made it far more important to keep the army together, and sending out infantry early means they don't have backup. Look at the map on turn 9 and you can see that everything about the strategy backfired - lower on income, and there are three sets of 2 infantry staring down multiple enemy units that are all set to just get picked off one at a time.
There's no way he could have known this, but the Sami player could have slipped an infantry into the forests near his opponents HQ and won with his victory march
This is as far as I got. I was thinking of picking Sami, but then I was afraid my oppoment would pick Sonja for extra vision. So I picked her, and it didn't go as well :P

I think Grit or Sonja are the ideal COs for this one. Sonja is obvious, but with this set up artillery and missiles would be a he'll of a combo, if you could scout out enough of the map.
Yes, it does and it's only available on the awbw site, does not exist in official games. I believe this is due to some coding difficulty when the awbw dev are developing the site, i guess it has become a very good feature now to utilize
I would have picked Sonja. Sure, she doesn't have strong firepower, but she is much better at reconnaissance (and you can't attack if you can't see your enemy) and a Counter Break at the right time (at which it usually always comes) can deadlock an entire offensive or severely hinder it.
Well, my three contenders for this ruleset were either sami, because infantry and copters are the only ones that are not impeded by the weather, but I figured that weaker battle copters would be a handicap Sonja, because of your reasons, but decided against it, because of the negative luck Lash, because this map has nice terrain, and your power and super power both remove the movement penalty from the terrain and from the rain. Didn't really consider Kindle, but I'll watch this match to see how she fares.
Fun fact, *technically* sonja's vision boost gives better gains on units with already good vision, so her recons are improved the most by said vision boost. It's great.
Sonja is very strong here speaking from my experience playing against one, +1 vision is ridiculously powerful on Infantry with 1 vision and it gives you a lot of opportunities for engagements that are too risky to try with any other CO. Winning center is also much easier with her powers. I don't know if she would beat Kindle or maybe Lash on this map though, she still has trouble kicking anyone not named Grimm off properties or mountains even with a tower and the only usable unit she has to do it are bombers.
As soon as you register actually, you have a match with someone named 'TheFroobster' (without the quotes) refresh the page if it doesn't seem to update.
I think for the next Tournament, Mangs should Have Luck-based COs be in the first rounds, then Have the more Competitive rounds further in. Round One literally is a filter for the best players to play further in the tournament
Probably by design. Can't blame Mangs for that, and besides, it serves as a learning curve for the lesser skilled players. They now have literally hundreds of replays to cherry pick from and watch to learn to play better. It can't get any better than that.
I tried to make a colorblind patch for the website, but ran up against the issue of: there are SIXTEEN teams, how do you colorize them better? At least with the French (purple), the hats are very distinct on the infantry
Hey, the programmer here. As mentioned by Tiamat, there is an easily accessible feature to change the country (aka colour) of a player via right clicking a player in the player list. (As well as their facing direction.) If there are any other parts of the program I can make better for colourblind people, I am absolutely willing to implement them.
Stupid question: How can Heipmasters Battlecopter get a boost from a city? Some bald, Pepsi-addicted guy on the interwebs taught me that Airunits can not get terrain related bonuses.
Heipmaster is playing as Kindle, and Kindle's air units get the usual 40% boost on cities, just like how Jake's air units get the usual 10% boost on plains
I'm still in my Round 2 match and it's a race to see who has the most properties. I decided to pick Lash because of all that sweet terrain and my opponent picked Sonja. I'm sweating right now because we have about the same amount of properties and it's Day 28. My anxiety is through the roof lol. Update: I ended up winning on Day 29. Even on day 28, I couldn't tell if my opponent and I were even, or if I was ahead. I really enjoyed that game because of how close it was. I don't want to sound selfish, but I recommend you check it out! :)
The Sami did the classic mistake of overextending to cap without any support, you can cap, but then your Infantry dies and Sami without many Infantry is like a cat without claws. No vision also makes her Super more unreliable, while Kindle keeps being super annoying. I don't think Sami is that great, even Mech spam is questionable, since there's mostly Infantry and BCopters, and bothare good against Mechs
God doesn’t want anybody in hell because He loves us, but you must understand why we deserve hell and why those who refuse to live under His authority will go there. He gave us the law (Ten Commandments) not to make us righteous, but rather to show us our sin (Romans 3:20). We’re not sinners because we sin, but rather we sin because we’re sinners. Sin is the nature of our flesh that we are born with due to the sin of Adam in the garden. For someone to be justified before God they have to be sinless. We’ve all sinned (Romans 3:23), and the the law demands death for those who sin (Romans 6:23). God is righteous, so He must punish our sin, which is what He did through His Son Jesus Christ on the cross. Jesus is Holy and sinless, yet He received our sin when He died on the cross, so that we can be righteous before God (2 Corinthians 5:21). When He died on the cross, He said “It is finished” (John 19:30), which means He paid the full price for all of your sins (past, present, and future) to be forgiven. He was buried and rose again from the dead. God will forgive anybody who puts their full trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. We aren’t saved based on our good deeds, but only by the grace of God (Ephesians 2:8-9). His precious blood that He shed is the only reason why we can be forgiven of our sins (Hebrews 9:22). If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised Him from the dead, then you’ll be saved (Romans 10:9). You are born-again with the Spirit of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), and are not only legally justified before God, but also are accredited His righteous (Romans 4:24). Believers live for Christ now, so get to know Him through His Word. I recommend reading the book of Romans and the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), and watching Pastor Joseph Prince’s online sermons!

Help!! What map is this?
Which songs are you using?
5:05 Does this transport copter move, then load a unit, then unload a unit all on the same turn? Wut?
Yes, it does and it's only available on the awbw site, does not exist in official games. I believe this is due to some coding difficulty when the awbw dev are developing the site, i guess it has become a very good feature now to utilize
Didn't know mangs liked the cnc series!
I would have picked Sonja. Sure, she doesn't have strong firepower, but she is much better at reconnaissance (and you can't attack if you can't see your enemy) and a Counter Break at the right time (at which it usually always comes) can deadlock an entire offensive or severely hinder it.
Well, my three contenders for this ruleset were either sami, because infantry and copters are the only ones that are not impeded by the weather, but I figured that weaker battle copters would be a handicap
Sonja, because of your reasons, but decided against it, because of the negative luck
Lash, because this map has nice terrain, and your power and super power both remove the movement penalty from the terrain and from the rain.
Just submitted, about how long does it take to appear on the parings?
As soon as you register actually, you have a match with someone named 'TheFroobster' (without the quotes) refresh the page if it doesn't seem to update.
14:40 that anti air almost got B L A S T E D
i don't get it
@@DerGremlin it was next to the mech, had he a way to see it would have been one more point for the mvp mech
@@AADP well at 14:40 the blue anti air in the bottom left was moved, i thought you meant this one ^^
@@DerGremlin oh I got the time wrong xP hahaha thats why it doesnt show I meant
Ima be honest, I genuinly dint liked the fact that is rain constant
but hey, at least this is something different
Actually surprized there is no Random Weather round yet. Maybe the final round.
Mangs help, your spreadsheet says I lost in round 3, but I haven't played it yet
and no one sent me invite link
Is there eni rules to it ?
I think for the next Tournament, Mangs should Have Luck-based COs be in the first rounds, then Have the more Competitive rounds further in. Round One literally is a filter for the best players to play further in the tournament
Probably by design. Can't blame Mangs for that, and besides, it serves as a learning curve for the lesser skilled players. They now have literally hundreds of replays to cherry pick from and watch to learn to play better. It can't get any better than that.
tfw chose Sami playing against Kindle
As awesome as the programmer for the replay viewer is, I wonder if it would be possible for them to add a colorblind mode?
I tried to make a colorblind patch for the website, but ran up against the issue of: there are SIXTEEN teams, how do you colorize them better?
At least with the French (purple), the hats are very distinct on the infantry
you can change the units color in the programm if you don't havetotal color blindness
Hey, the programmer here. As mentioned by Tiamat, there is an easily accessible feature to change the country (aka colour) of a player via right clicking a player in the player list. (As well as their facing direction.)
If there are any other parts of the program I can make better for colourblind people, I am absolutely willing to implement them.
8:10 Mangs, I think You switched the COs around. that's a Sami Copter, which are weaker.
Sami best CO in non-DOR Advance Wars
Massive respect to Laska for the balls to the wall strategy, shame that Kindle basically counters Sami though
Good choice with Rain in the Night.
I can't believe this game is much better with Red Alert 2 ost.
Love the music
Candy IS A tier in dual strike video, but here IS C ? Why?
She's not as good as I thought.
@@Mangs1337 thank you, btw, i returned to Play advance war in my wiiu because i watched your channel
Looks like Mangs needs the Burning Super Death Sword custom cursor free download no virus

Lost the first round, but it was still fun!
Awesome match. Unfortunately, won't give me much help since I'm in a Andy mirror match lol Was hard figuring out what CO was the pick to go with.
this was such a sad match to watch, Sami never stood a chance.
Camouflage cursor :D
Kind,e is tier 3? Kinda busted.
Rip Sami
