This was my introduction to music when I was like 5 years old. We ended up throwing it away several years later because it cracked open and had no velocity capabilities but I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel extremely nostalgic for this keyboard 20 years later.
I purchased this. Keybord at a Thrift. Store Just Yesterday But it did NOT Have the Adapter do you imagine the cost for it's Adapter would be a worth it if the sound I- might enjoy with the price if there is indreed - be something I could find joy with l Depending on the price I might have to pay for the Adapter?
This was my second keyboard and I spent 7/24 for some years. Seeing the zero number when its opening, that purple color and big buttons for sound fx made me really emotional :) thank you for uploading.
I love this keyboard. It was the first one I had as a kid and I used to use it for my piano practice even though it didn't have velocity control. Me and my brother and sister would spend ages playing with the songs and sound effects on this thing lol. I actually still have it but some of the keys don't work and I haven't been able to fix it but I don't wanna throw it away either 😭
@@gearfacts that actually makes me happy to read. I kept feeling conflicted about it but I think I will keep it and maybe have another go at fixing it some time
Have this same shitty key board I got at a yard sale when I was 6. It has the same batteries that were supposed to expire in 2013 in it and it works lol
I got this when i was 9 for 12$ and while I have to put the plug in a certain position for it to work and some of the keys dont work sometimes (hitting it a few times fixes it), I love this keyboard.
my mom brought this thing home for me when i was...17? back when i could actually play the piano, lol. i was so spoiled by piano rolls in DAWs that i didn't bother continuing to hone that skill. i always liked the bass sounds (except for the synth and slap) and the cheesy harp. i remember finding a y splitter and trying to record it through line out, and being sorely disappointed with how terrible it sounded.
I think you forgot to edit this video before uploading it, as I hear a lot of pauses and at 12:51, two re-takes! I guess this shows me what it would be like if people on TH-cam didn't heavily edit their videos, so that's good...
Oh... Yeah I've been editing these a lot late at night lately, all bleary-eyed and stuff ...I might have missed a section. I'd like to think I'll go back and fix that but who am I kidding haha Gearfacts
@@gearfacts I got this keyboard for free today and wanted to see what it would sound like when someone is able to play it. But these pauses and "freezings" in this video just drive me insane! The PSR-185 doesn't have an internal sequencer to record anything of your playing activities internally. It doesn't have MIDI ports either, so you cannot even use external MIDI sequencers for that. The only way to record anything is via normal audio...by using the audio/headphones output and connect it to the input of a multitrack recorder of some sort (may it be analog or digital...Tascam 424, Yamaha MT120, Alesis ADAT, Fostex D-80/-90/-108, Roland VS-840/-880/-890, Boss BR-1180 etc., just to name a few)...or a computer soundcard/audio-interface input and use multitrack software like for example Audacity or a so-called DAW (digital audio workstation) for PC and/or Apple Mac...like PreSonus Studio One Prime, Ableton Live lite etc. ...one of which is mostly already included on CD-ROM (or available for free download) when buying an audio interface. If you are planning to buy an audio-interface, do not buy the VERY cheapest. Please make sure that it does have - at least - one stereo input (Behringer U-Phoria UMC202HD, Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen, Presonus AudioBox USB 96 25th Anniv Ed, Roland Rubix 22 etc.). For connecting the audio output of the PSR-185 to a normal PC soundcard input you will need something like a Cordial CFM 1,5 WV. For connecting the PSR-185 to an audio interface you need something like a Cordial CFY 1,5 VPP or a Klotz KY1-150.
I have the 180 too but doesnt have MIDI to connect to computer to record :( Do you know any tips or tricks I can do this to record sound to computer ??? or mix along to a computer software ?
I had the PSR 180 from 1992 until 2016 , still working perfectly . I've given it away to my niece for practice. One thing I can say is that when you connect these older keyboards to a sound system amp , adjust the bass , gain , mid and low accordingly on that amp and you can generate good quality sounds and sing along . I've done that on many occasions. sad thing is that new keyboards don't have some of those great sounding styles . I now have a Yamaha dgx230 and a Roland E09 IN (Indian edition) .
Do you know which Yamaha model has the metronome option. My son started to learn keyboard and his teacher asked for metronome in it. We’ve psr 6, does any of the drums beat is similar to that tick tick sound
@@Gaz136 Ideal would be anything from Yamaha that starts with "PSR-E" followed by three numbers. They are quite a lot better for beginners I think, and they're easy to find second hand for low prices

Ah yes - When model numbers are this close it usually means there's a minor physical difference like a different color scheme, or additional ports on the back. GF

Not a tick-tick-tick metronome specifically - Just a whole lot of drum beats :) Gearfacts
