Hello my lovely. Hope you are feeling a bit better. This is a stunning painting of a beautiful Chaffinch. You simply rock at birds, always have done. Enjoy your days. I'll treat you to lunch when you get home. ❤xx😊
Beautiful Bird!! 🐥 I painted a lot of European Birds when I started painting watercolor. But I did never use color pencils over the paintings. Maybe I should do some of them again combined with color pencils on top. That makes the paintings much more detailed.
Lovely, Helen, especially on the delicate wing! Thanks for the tip about the Merlin app, will check it out as I live near a congregation site for migratory songbirds, easier to hear than to see...Would you mind sharing what brand of marker you used for the white markings and eye of the chaffinch?
Beautiful! I’ve got to start combining my watercolor with colored pencils. The finish is fabulous. I have the Prismacolor brand, which are also very soft, but I still love them. Haven’t tried the Polychromos yet. It’s on the list. Thanks so much for the reminder. Blessings to you.
It's so much fun! I love my Prismacolors too! The Polychromos are wonderful, just in a different way. I've done several drawings with Prismacolors for the base (blended out with solvent), then Polychromos for the details, and I love that combination.
This is soooo glorious!!! Will you do more mixed media birds for us?? You are so talented!!! New subscriber here- I’ve been binge watching your channel and I love it!!! ❤
That is super kind of you - thank you! I can't promise more - I can only seem to do exactly what I feel like each day, artwise, so it's a rather random assortment!
Really beautiful Helen! Could I ask what speed you record your painting on? When I use time lapse it seems too fast. Thankyou for sharing, looking forward to the next one, take care xx
What a beautiful painting ❤
Thank you!
Tuned in this morning while I had a cup of tea. What a lovely way to start my day watching you paint this beautiful bird. Thank you!
Thank you so much 😀
I like how the pencil marks blend seamlessly with the watercolours.
Thanks! It's me cheating again!
@@helencryer Well what do you know, cheating does get us somewhere!
How lovely! I think the luminance pencils gave it a lovely softness. Thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Helen that bird painting is amazingly beautiful ! What a talent!
Thanks so much!

Aww, thank you Panda! Definitely feeling a bit more human today! ❤️❤️❤️
He's lovely x
Thanks!
Its also pouring with rain here in Cornwall..........I like how you do the wet in wet technique, along with the final addition of pencil.
Oh dear! But that makes me feel better about being away 🤣
Thank you!!
What a beautiful bird, it looks so real too! Your animal paintings are as nice as the landscapes. Maybe try one of your dog, your dog is very cute!
Thank you! I'm scared of trying to paint all my dog's fur! The only time I drew him was with soft pastels:

I really enjoy birds for some reason! I probably use pencil because it's easier to control for the details.
@@helencryer oh yes, I enjoyed it very much, my bird phase. That's how I found my love of painting animals ❤️
This is really lovely and i like the way you layer pencils over the watercolour for the details❤️ Thank you🙏🏼
Thanks! I just think it's easier to do details that way, plus I just love my pencils!
❤❤Beautiful!! Glad you were in the mood for watercolour (and you were able to find a non-laptop reference).
Thank you!!
Very relaxing and nice to see you use colored pencils for detailed work.
Thanks! It's my cheat technique!!
Beautiful. I love your videos, always inspiring to watch Helen! 😍
Thank you - that's really kind of you!
It turned out lovely 🥰 and how perfect it is to find a book on birds!
Thanks! It was very grubby and cob-webby, but I was pleased!

The app is great! My Dad has been enjoying trying to immitate birds and 'trick' it!
The white pen is a Flysea Acrylic Marker from Temu.
Beautiful- I love the texture on the wing
Thanks!
so beautiful. Thanks for the share.
Thank you!!
It turned out amazing! Hopefully we’ll get some good weather soon. Here in The Netherlands it has also been raining a lot
Thank you! Fingers crossed - today has been ridiculously windy!!

So, I'm not doing a time lapse, I recorded the entire process at normal speed, then made it x8 in editing. Thank you!
@@helencryer Thankyou Helen, that’s very helpful xx
