Freight Moves and Equipment Sales at Winslow Junction

  • In late April I made a short trip to Winslow Junction and to my surprise the two F-7 Diesels and the Susquehanna RDCs were marked with the recording mark of the Reading and Northern railroad. A Blue Comet car had also been relocated in preperation for its move to the Cape May Seashore Lines, There were also a pair of Norfolk Southern engines on a sidetrack.
I came back a week later to see if anything has changed in that time but the only things were a few cars moved slightly and the NS pair was turned around. I did however catch a SRNJ freight train which was always something I wanted to do but did not know how due to the SRNJ's infrequent schedule.
A few weeks after these trips the R&N equipment was shipped out by rail and the Blue Comet car was trucked out. Only a few passenger cars remain on the sidetrack and the second Blue Comet car will soon follow it's sister car. Most of what I saw last November is now gone. Glad i was able to see it when I did :).
But seriously does anyone know what the NS engines were for? I thought they were going to move the F-7s but the went out with a pair of Geeps.

I live not far from there, there is only the old Caboose and I think a passenger car left on the old rails.

Sounds right, they have been selling off most of the equipment. The RDC at least is running for Reading and Northern Now

@@bracdude181 they spot cars at 84 lumber that are unloaded and the material is reloaded on trucks going to other 84 stores in south jersey. The asphalt plant gets most of the action as they use tons of product.....they share a spur with tri county and then there are switches in their yard to set cars for each industry. They used to also drop paper rolls at AC Press printing plant. Plant is gone but track is used to park cars.
