That’s exactly what I thought too 😅 I had to keep pausing! I’m still not 100% sure if I can follow these instructions! But I’m sure I’ll figure it out by myself
I bought a Vodafone sim card. It cost me 57€ and was told it is good for 5 months. Then four weeks later it stopped working and was told to buy 9.99€ for four weeks. I bought the Holafly eSim and it is working with out any problems. 72.50€ for 37 days. Thanks Nik.
I used Holafly then when I activated and used it, it turns out I was connected/Roaming through China Mobile and all my data was going to China. Beware, check your IP Address and Cell Endpoints, they will likely be China. Once I used it , it was Italy but majority of the time it’s China Telecom
Good info. One suggestion, maybe slow down a bit while you are explaining screens and what to do. Know you can stop it, but, it is nice to have it up on screen while you are educating us. Thanks. Love the channel
I’m traveling to Europe tomorrow for a month and a half and I’ll be visiting Hungary Austria Italy Switzerland Germany Iceland (maybe) Getting my Holafly all setup now 😁
For some reason, either through QR code or automatic, the system still wants me to go directly to activation, and you said not to activate until you get to your destination. Unsure how to move forward other than do it while in country.
Thanks for the video. The installation part was helpful but I think you went way too fast through the activation settings and turning off main plan. I have no idea where to find these settings you showed.
This was really useful. I am travelling to Australia later in the year and had been thinking of trying to find out about using my phone there. Now I know. Thank you
After installing the eSIM, should I turn off my home line the day of my departure flight from my home country and then activate the be eSIM once I land in the destination foreign country? My concern is the exact steps to make sure my U.S. line isn’t trying to connect at my destination while I activate the new eSIM so that I’m not charged additional fees from my US carrier.
Bought the UK eSIM for my trip to London later this month via your link. I may have made a mistake with the install, as the instruction email just had me installing and activating... I have it installed now, and turned off, but under the list of "SIMS" in my i13 Cellular settings it shows this SIM as "Used as "Holafly" (I had custom named it). Your instructions or Holafly instructions don't mention it would say "Used as" in the name...I have it "Off", so I'm hoping it is going to be good to use when I arrive in London and turn it all "On". ...
I used Holafly then when I activated and used it, it turns out I was connected/Roaming through China Mobile and all my data was going through China as the cell infrastructure router then out to internet.
for data only and your settings, with roaming 'off' for the US line, does not mean no calls can come in? how about text messages. I was thinking of just using Holafly data and use WhatsApp for any communication...
In my experience, WoW eSim has always been great and budget-friendly. It's also readily available to travel to India or any country. Setting it up is easy - just tap on data roaming in your device. Set up your phone, scan the QR code upon arrival at your destination, and you're ready to go!
If I choose to use the “ automatic install option” in the Holafly app, (while in home country) then activate at visiting country…5:52 in video, if I stop the process there, (ready to activate) then open the app when I arrive at destination, and have Wi-Fi, will the app open to that (ready to activate), and prompt me to activate and go through those settings to toggle it on? The activation process is a little confusing…
Hey Nik and Allie! Not sure if you'll know the answer to this question, but if an individual's current phone plan doesn't cover international data/roaming, and they choose to use an eSIM like what you outlined in the video, will their phone carrier still charge them for the international roaming that's done while on the trip? Or does having the international eSIM option sidestep the phone carrier (like a Tmobile/AT&T)? Thanks a bunch!
I had a horrible experience with Holafly. That is why they are sponsoring a ton of videos because people are switching to others. Horrible service. I end up having to get another sim.
I used Holafly then when I activated and used it, it turns out I was connected/Roaming through China Mobile and all my data was going through China as the cell infrastructure router then out to internet.
I want to be able to make and receive calls from my regular number while abroad through Wi-Fi calling. If I get a Holafly eSIM and install it on a second device and share the internet, would that work?
OK, went pretty quick on activation. Where is it that you were setting up which activation provides cell, msgs, etc.? Was that in the Holafly app? Or within the iPhone settings? I want to make sure I properly turn of romaing for my phisical SIM and keep it for HOLAFLY only. Thanks
When I did the insulation, I think I turned off my Verizon American phone number. I don’t want to lose that phone number. I just want to use the Holafly data. How do I go back and the phone number active?
Great info! This info. will be so helpful for us with our travel to Europe. Greece: Athens, Naxos, Santorini and then to Germany: Dusseldorf and Langeoog. I am assuming the Europe plan will be our best option. Thank you!
I did automatic and it switch my primary to off and turned eSIM on automatically. This was not good had to turn it on cause I’m not out of Country yet. Also holafly instructions are so confusing. Even this dudes video on TH-cam isn’t matching what customer service told me. I don’t trust this 100%. So to avoid a big bill on my return I and suspending my primary line on the days I’m gone so it will be impossible to use cellular. If I could go back I would probably have done the QR. it may have been more understandable and match what the TH-camr said
Not everyone uses iphone,...A video for Android phones would be extremely helpful...or maybe a link to one? Also, are there any alternative options for phones that don't allow these esims to be installed?
Doing a river cruise visiting Czechia, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary. Assuming the Hola Fly Europe card is best option for multiple countries. Do they offer an option with both Phone and Data?
@@aimee0250 Holafly e-sim. Horrible horrible. I had to get another sim card and never got a refund from Holafly. No wonder they are paying influencers.
I installed at home but erred in activating when I got to my destination. 6 hours waiting on the help WhatsApp and one hour texting with the agent. They said they were busy that day.
I already have no problem with texting or net surfing in Europe on my US iPhone. It's making a normal, traditional phone call that I cannot do. Am I the only American in Europe needing to call for a taxi on my mobile phone? Seems to be impossible. Talked to my carrier (T-Mobile) and got no answers.
We're planning on a trip to Europe so this is very helpful. Once you activate Holafly and we're in Europe can we use it to call back to the States if we need to? Or do we have to switch back to our local carrier (in our case Verizon)? Also how do you know if your iPhone is locked? Thanks for all of your videos Nik and Allie. They've been incredibly helpful!
You can use your phone to call the US with your primary line but you’ll be charged per minute for it. But if you have WhatsApp, Viber, Telegram or whatever chat apps that allow calls you may do so with no charge since it will be using cellular data from Holafly. To know whether your iphone is locked or not, go to Settings-> General-> About then scroll down till you find “Carrier Lock” It should say No SIM Restriction if your phone is unlocked. Hope this helps😊
@@irisp.3139 Thanks irisp! Does the person I'm calling back in the US have to have WhatsApp or other for the call to go through w/o additional charges? Or will the call go through regardless?
iphone 15 and then says it's incompatible. QR code has no data in it, and then I can't even find the bloody add esim in my options. Doin't even have a cellular option in my phone it's called mobile??
Installation instructions are still quite hopeless. You need to be really clear on the difference between (1) installing and (2) activation because its so 'easy', the app does it all for you under automatic installation. But where do you need to stop if you are still in your home country to avoid activation as most importantly this is the only time you are connected to the internet. This is not clear on your TH-cam video, the Holafly video or the WhatsApp instructions. The current solution I'm going with is setup up just before we leave and buy an extra day to cover the long haul trip. This remains very confusing as the installation does not appear to be a 2 step process. The app suggests that the eSIM data will only start to be used once at my destination, again an unhelpful piece of information as the plan is based on number of days and not data consumption, especially if its unlimited.
