The Fate Of Regulus Black. Where Is His Body?

- Many of you will probably remember Hermione and Harry opening what the thought was the real locket of Slytherin only to discover that a person known as RAB had already found the real one and swore to destroy it. The person was obviously Regulus Arcturus Black, former death eater and younger brother of Harry’s godfather Sirius. Regulus went from being a devout follower of the dark lord to then doing a complete 180 and vowing to do all her could to thwart Voldemort’s efforts. So there’s actually 2 things I want to talk about today. The first is how Regulus went from being incredibly loyal to turning his back on the dark lord. The second and obviously the topic of this video, is why his body was never found, never recovered and how long was it before anyone even realised he was missing.

It is sad that both Regulus and Sirius died and neither had a body to bury. Regulus becoming a inferi saddens me.
I really hope that when Harry became head aurora, he would have gone back to that cave, exterminated all the inferi and if possible recovered Regulus's body and given him a proper burial.
How would he have known which of the inferi was regulus black?

I think you are right. Voldemort would like the idea that anyone who would work against him, would die horribly and (no longer with a soul) become a creature forever protecting his secrets.
I sometimes have the feeling that the body Harry saw under the water in the Cave during his journey with Dumbledore in HBP was Regulus’s body.

Hello Dean, I had hopes that Kreacher used his magic to get both he and Regulus to safety and he went into hiding. It would have made an amazing plot twist if he returned near the end of the novels to help fight besides Harry as a way to avenge his fallen brother and regain his honor. He could even die at the battle of Hogwarts, with his final words being something of an apology to Sirius. That would make for a great what if post!
That would’ve been a way better outcome for the character than the one Rowling gave us in my opinion.
Regulus was like Narsissa Malfoy/Black and Sirius is like Andromeda Tonks/Black
It took me back when I saw Timothee in a channel talking about the official Harry Potter lol. I mean, he along with all the rest of the fan cast are basically the characters on the Marauders era in our hearts, but it's still feels like an honor to me for something that discusses the canon/official parts to use them😭 I also scream whenever I see Ben Barnes in a Sirius Black video about canon lol

The Inferi freak me out. They did in the book and I think the film captured it very well.
I figured that Regulus would end up becoming like the inferi after being dragged into the water to his death by the inferi. I mean, it makes the most sense and why Regulus's body was never found.

Hiya Dean, haven't watched in a while since it's been hard to think about hp without crying over Robbie Coltrane but I'm glad to be back, been watching you for a while and I started out only watching the films then read the books and your videos helped me understand some of the most important parts of the story, like the "Always" scene, made no sense before but you helped, also I love how you used the Reggie fancast pics cuz many creators refuse to but its how so many people in the fandom would recognise R.A.B
Regulus was a much bigger hero than Sirius' bloody hypocrite ever would be.
The thing I am wondering is why couldn’t kreatcher take Regulas away from the cave by just touching him while apparating like Dobby did with the group in the Malfoy manor dungeon
That's a really interesting point. I've wondered that too, my theory is that Regulus knew he would have to sacrifice himself, even if Regulus returned he would still be recovering from the effects of the potion and people would ask questions about what happened to him and if he were taken in front of Voldemort, he might use legilmency and find out what Regulus had done and then proceed to kill him and his entire family plus Kreacher to get the locket back. A truly brave boy. Braver by far than Draco Malfoy.
I agree with Krisynthia, that might be the reason, why Kreatcher Was not ordered to bring them both back. And I miss in the video that fact that Kreatcher didn't find a way out, but Regulus ordered him back and safed him. That shows a hole new character and doesn't fit with his family attitude to feel superior to others.
I always pondered this too. Perhaps Regulus knew just messing with the Horcrux would cause his death at Voldermort’s hand anyway. He asked Kreacher to leave him behind because he wanted to go on his own terms as sad as it is 😔
It makes the most sense that Regulus' Body is in the cave, where he died.

After voldemorts death, the magic he placed on the inferi faded away so they become ordinary harmless corpses

I knew he became one of the undead but I never thought of the water in the basin not being a potion but enchanted water from the lake. It would draw the inferi like happy thoughts and memories to a dementor.
Consider This. What if Grindelwald had used a similar liquid, admittedly less powerful, to reanimate the newborn Qilin .
I know it's what makes most sense, Regulus becoming an inferi, but I'm just in denial and don't want to believe it because that means he won't be able to reconnect with Sirius in the afterlife (whose soul was definitely not trapped in the mirror, nope definitely not)

Excellent video. I agree with this theory it make sense. Another possibility is that they mold him to pieces and there was no body left to become an Inferi. I know it's a horror possibility but think about the situation Regulus faced- Horror however you look at it. I wonder about Regulus if he murdered in the name of the dark lord, because my base assumption on DE is that they were all killers. Unless I already know that is. I am sure Voldemort as a test of loyalty ordering them to murder/torture Muggles/MB or any of his enemies.

Before watching this video: Isn't it obvious that Regulus body would be where the Inferi took him? Inside the lake in that cave?
He is probably just one of the Inferi.
There is litterally no other option since Voldemort didn't even know that Regulus was there. So he couldn't have taken his body and Kreacher was to afraid of that cave to go back for his masters body.

i really think your right on this one but i have two thoughts on this as well what if instead of becoming a inferi Regulus 1 the inferi dragged his body to the very bottom of the lake 2 the inferi ate his body once he drowned
Why couldn't Regulas escape the cave with Kreacher?
Was murder a requirement to receive a dark mark?
If the "potion" was what turned people into inferi, then why didn't Dumbledore reanimate when he died on Hogwarts property? Snape didn't give Dumbledore any potion, nothing that could have obviously served as an antidote to any such lasting dark effects of the water of that lake. And Dumbledore wasn't cremated either his body was entombed whole in that white stone crypt. Well, that white stone crypt may have been strong enough to trap and permanently contain an inferi he remained completely still and lifeless the whole time from death to burial, no rising up, no violence, no form of disruption to his funeral of any kind. Even if the potion simply took more time to reanimate the body, Voldemort then opened the crypt to steal the elder wand. Voldemort likely wouldn't have had any way of knowing Dumbledore drank the potion from the cave, no way of knowing that potion had turned Dumbledore into an inferi programed to attack and kill anyone that disturb his grave in any way, so Voldemort wouldn't know to first cast any kind of inferi suppression spell before opening the crypt, so if the potion turned Dumbledore into an inferi, why didn't Dumbledore reach up and attack Voldemort, when he opened the crypt? Because that potion didn't turn Dumbledore into an inferi, if there was an automatic intrinsic system of that cave, which would turn trespassers into inferi, it was something else not the potion in that bowl.
Ok so Kreature was able to transport himself out of the cave. We know that house elves can also transport wizards, so why didnt Kreature transport Regulus? He obviously had time if he was given the locket and instructed to destroy it...

Your not the first to throw this theory out there but it don't make a whole lot of sense...I am not sure how the book describes the clues to his whereabouts or how he was killed that this theory was created but in the movie can't remember if it is in the book or not but there was a letter to the darklord telling him what he had done. Did he write that on the way to the bottom of the lake? Maybe the Inferi came back up to give that to creature so he can put it with the locket? I can believe he may have been killed trying to destroy the locket and told creature to do it if he failed. Just a thought
I have head-canon that inferiori only kill people and Regulus Black was animagus cat, due to fact never turn your back if you being hunt by a cat. But do to the inferiori touch if he turn back into a humen he become inferiori. Crook Shac (trio cat) is Regulus and he only has 6 lives, 1st do to the inferior, 2nd probably drown on his way back to land, and the killing of the Potter
