Most people really don't have any idea, when they look at someone's hot rod how many hours of work that each thing takes to get the look that they are trying to get, let alone the skill level you haft to have to accomplish it, you are a master at showing the details that most people never see, thank you sir !
Understand after watching this why some folks just buy all the parts new along with a prefab body of their choice and then the have a hot rod. This is old school.
@@RichardSmith-um4js I agree Richard they can do that now, I'm 75 and we had to make most of it, We had "Honest Charlies" where we could buy intake manifolds and heads, Speedway Motors and others for parts. but most of the time we couldn't afford that stuff. You were lucky if knew someone with a arc welder!
I guess I’m one of those weirdos who just really enjoyed about three-quarters of an hour watching bodywork being done! Anyone would think you’ve done this before because you make it look so easy! I know it’s not. 🤷🏻♂️🤣👍👍
Hello, I am from Argentina and it is a pleasure to see such a complete person working. mechanics, plates and painting, tapestry, electricity of the automobile, impressive
Man I’m glad I found this channel. You are an amazing fabricator and problem solver. I always wanted to get into vehicles and now I’m collecting tools and some knowledge and ur channel is by far one of the best to learn how to get things done. Thanks for the videos and sharing ur custom builds. Plus anything u work on would be cool to watch
Idk of any better channel to watch when it comes to actually building/creating a vehicle. I love how you do every little thing yourself. Most channels outsource or just skip over stuff.
Been watching from the beginning for the last four months. loving it all. Will be real time soon. Pablo is gaining weight. Addicted to your no stress out look.
You are having to much fun! Just a tip on spreading filler, try using an acid brush when spreading in contour lines like around window openings. Goes much faster and less sanding. Thin coats work best. Thank you for making these videos. Respect!
Your dedication knows no bounds, sandblasting in the snow. Also you have the patience of a saint where bodywork is concerned I’ve done bits of hand sanding myself and I don’t love it to say the least. Great stuff as always.
I have never built a true hot rod but my Dad did and I wanted to thank you for sharing your talent you build true old school rides my Dad would have loved them ... Thanks for reminding me of him and great stuff love whole bomber style .
Brent, I tried the Bondo bit on my 2nd car. I didn't have the knowledge, skills or the tools to do it. 3 cans of Bondo and I said to heck with it. Yeah, I find if interesting and yes, I hated it.... To do bodywork, to me, you are an artist...You need a certain talent too, which you have... I have a lot of respect for bodywork guys.
I love watching you do this work. I am 82 years old and working with my oldest brother in the 40's -60's was just exactly doing these same old cars. If you ever see the 1949 Customized Red / White Ford Convertible with the Hollywood Top With the rear windows that looked a lot line the Studebaker wrapped around rear glass and no rear side windows showing while the Top was up and the car was chopped, Channeled, and Lowered like a small 49 Ford T Bird, That was my car while I was in the Army and I left the car at home as a regular 49 Ford and when I came home My oldest brother had cut it all up and made the T Bird size car with a 48 Vauxhall Grill. Can you picture a 1949 Ford T Bird?
I would love to see a Pablo montage at some point. I've never owned a dog and now I see how much I've missed out on. I am 61 and throughly enjoy all your videos.
Have enjoyed this build enormously. And learned a lot. Measure twice, cut once. Measure again, cut again. Repeat as necessary... (You might want to put a bottom in the box, btw, unless you're just going to use it for stuff you're taking to the dump... Hope you find that helpful)... (In England we call Bondo Isopon, as it happens. Bondo sounds like much more fun)... Thankyou, sir, and keep those puppies warm.
Very satisfying watching this build take shape. Pretty sure you will have a big grin on your face as you are driving this beauty down the road with Pablo by your side.
Freezing for sand blasting, I don't recall the side extention on your work shop , great idea more room for more toys... yuz, Keep the great work coming, getting exciting , coming a long beautifully. N Zealand 🇳🇿
It's coming along nice. I really like what you did with the bottom edge of the cab with 1/2 inch electric conduit. Turned out perfect. Pablo's response to "Do you want to go for a ride" with that 45 degree angle look. That was perfect too. Bondo you gotta love it
Watching someone do the sanding is far more enjoyable then doing it yourself, but there is a huge satisfaction in the finish job when your hands and hard work get the result your after keep the Videos coming Noel in Australia
Sweet uncle thanks for the info on the sandblaser, hope you did a video on repair of the Quad ! People who are real petrol heads don’t care what you are working on they need the push, just do it! Thanks a million Cia
OCD Guy here. You scared me! When you were backing up that yellow lifter crane thingy, the garage door was still closed behind you. I was left screaming at my TV set!
Bon jouir mon ami ... another great installment. An inexpensive device that might be helpful for the fine/channel work is a Jeweler's "Flex Shaft" ... foot pedal for power so you get to use both hands for accuracy and since the chuck is larger that say a "Dremel", loads more wheel type options (much more powerful too). Onwards and upwards Brent !!!
You may not enjoy body work but you sure are good at it. I'm one of those guys who enjoys watching all aspects of a sculptor at work, be it welding, pulling dents or laying down filler. I began working on cars near the beginning of the introduction of body filler as compared to lead fill and believe me, the body filler is such a joy to work with compared to leading. Paublo's end of day expression certainly says, "Dad, I love you." If only our children could be so explicit.
Hey Brent, thanks for showing your artistic talents with sculpture! It causes me a little PTSD watching you craft that way but I'm glad someone can still do it; I look forward to watching your continued effort creating this beauty.
I don't enjoy bodywork and watching it being done is not fun but watching someone that is such an artist makes it down right enjoyable. Can't wait to see the finished project .
I think it looks awesome or not building a show car like you said if you consider it a rat rod that’s the cleaners rat rod I ever seen God bless you keep the good work up
I think you really like this truck, you're going above and beyond Halfass. it should provide years of running to town and getting more fiberglass and Bondo for your next project....
I have to agree with you- Bondo is the sucky part. Metal work - great. Prime and glaze - eh, OK. Paint - fine. But Glass and Bondo, nope. Thanks for going through the sucky part so we get to see the beautiful work finished 😎
Ahh, the joys of sandblasting in the winter! You're a better man than me Brent. Everytime I sandblast everything is crunchy (including me, especially where the sun don't shine)! At least there is little humidity so it won't flash rust and I know a coat of primer is in the near future! 😉
Brent, don't sell yourself short on your abilities to do good body work! I've been in this business for over 45 years ! I've met people who said they were the best body man ever... and weren't!! I've met some who said they sucked at it, they didn't! Like anything else, you just roll with the punches, l wasn't any good at it when l started, but I got better. Now I don't mind it a bit! My background was in driveline and racing, pull tractors, drag cars, loved to do it all!! I hated foreign cars, nothing changed with that ! Good old American muscle ,that's 💪 👌 jim
You're really blowing through this build I've thought it'd take you I'll fall 1/2 a winner looks like you're damn you're done another month or so at the speed you work Brent loved the videos thank you
Oh the joys of them small lines around the door frames! Love pablo and his low energy responses, my dogs won't stay in the shop when tools are being used!
I am really liking the truck cab as a body for a Hot Rod. Seeing you on this project has renewed my teenage desire for a Hot Rod Pickup. Short bed maybe in wood, cab like yours and open front end. Ala Kart like. It is good to see the layers and sanding and exaclty what is required but really, 2 days is not bad. I really like this project, You are gonna love the ride I hope. D
Auto art at its finest. It may not be as big as the General, but still a ton of work. FWIW, quite a while ago I saw Jesse James and his small group make bomber seats from scratch and it was extremely labor intensive. Can't they be bought close to what you want? The pickup in the background is pretty snazzy. Another GREAT series.
Body work is a necessary evil in a project. It does suck, and seems to be never ending. But, the better the bodywork, the better the paint job will come out. Keep at it, its going to look awesome.
You are doing an amazing job on the 37 Ford. I like this build, you are not pretending to make a show car, but you are going "one Step" farther with this. It is looking great !
You’ve done this rodeo more than once. It’s a lot of work. I stripped my 69 down, prepped and sealed the body than did fiberglass cloth, fiber, then glass. Two summers of cutting out cracks etc. I’m a fan of watching now. 🙄😵💫🥸
Good Work, much better then I could do. You got more skill, I get burned out fast. I was a good motor rebuilder, in my day. Your an excellent wiring harness guy too. Thanks for the great videos, I appreciate everyone of them. Tell Pablo Hi from his fan club.
I got a German Shepherd and she acts just like Pablo when she wants to go for a ride tilts her head runs around can't wait to go out. Your truck is looking good looking forward to the rest. 👍👍😀🇨🇦🐕
Funny how you hate doing bodywork, hate Bondo and hate sanding yet your results are always so nice. Looking good, looking forward to the finished product, I’m sure it won’t disappoint.
great video , l really like you taking the time to shine on this build ! cab metal work shows how close the finish work with minimal bondo too finish ! keep the vids coming , thanks jim
Cab has come up great, you could go on for hours to get it perfect. Time for Pablo to go see Jenny Craig, lol. He is waiting for the maiden drive. 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
watching you spread bondo and watching me spread bondo proves we are playing two different games. lol. my bondo is hard half way thru and as much on my as the panel. i have enjoyed these videos.
As much as you hate doing body work you're pretty good at it it takes a lot of patience I've done a lot of it in my life in my life and I've learned don't ever put Body filler on and going to house and do it tomorrow come out the next day and it's hard As a rock the way you're doing it you're showing your viewers to get the fondo before it turns really hard it's really hard that's the best way as my 2 cents worth for all that shit is worth
Pablo tilted his head when you said "going for a ride" = Classic. made smile when I saw that.
I was just fixing to reply almost the exact same thing. That dog loves chillin out and going for ride and his head tilt made me literally LMAO
Most people really don't have any idea, when they look at someone's hot rod how many hours of work that each thing takes to get the look that they are trying to get, let alone the skill level you haft to have to accomplish it, you are a master at showing the details that most people never see, thank you sir !
Yeah What He Said 👍👍👍

Love everything you do...lowbuck engineering at its finest.....
"Let's go see what we can find in the yard!"
If everybody had a Bud that was addicted to doing Body Work that would be Golden. 😎👍🇨🇦
Pablo is on my short-list of Best Dogs on TH-cam. Love that old guy.
"heavier with the dentage" I LOVE IT!!! this is the best build on the net...really
I guess I’m one of those weirdos who just really enjoyed about three-quarters of an hour watching bodywork being done! Anyone would think you’ve done this before because you make it look so easy! I know it’s not. 🤷🏻♂️🤣👍👍
happy there's folks out there that like this haha
I gathered that body work isn’t your favor thing, but I enjoy watching. Not boring. Thanks.
Brent even applying Bondo and sanding all down.. for the weirdos😆😆😆is fully entertaining.. you pick few hints in between making it worth the watch 👍👍👍
Everyone should have someone look at them the way Pablo does to you!
I absolutely hate body work, but for some reason I can sit and watch you do it for almost and hour.
Hello, I am from Argentina and it is a pleasure to see such a complete person working. mechanics, plates and painting, tapestry, electricity of the automobile, impressive
Pablo is cool 😎 He knows how to conserve energy👍🏻👏🏻⭐️
living the dream. a man ,his shed, his dog an old pickup and a tin of "muddy buddy"

If I may suggest, also watch Fitzee Fabrications 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I think back to my teenage years, if I still had those cars today, I have some big money!
Another great video by the Canadian Wizard of Welding! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🎉🎉🎉🎉👍👍🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Idk of any better channel to watch when it comes to actually building/creating a vehicle. I love how you do every little thing yourself. Most channels outsource or just skip over stuff.
Pablo is so patient and full of love, he is such a good dog.
Pablo looks sad he needs an extra Milk Bone , LOL , nice work .
How nice to enjoy your "rough" work and listen a good music!
Can't wait to see it all one colour, always get excited when a resto/mod/custom gets into its first paint coat !
Nothing better than coming home after work and neckin a couple hydraulic sandwiches to some half-ass body work...👌
Another lesson in low dollar car work, love it.
Respect!
Yup thats a trick I learned a bit late but glad I know now . Cuts down on the sanding and gets you there so much faster !
😆 lol, I was actually kinda hoping you would leave the bullet hole as a great conversation piece 😄
Pablo is the coolest dog on TH-cam, Hands Down.
Your dedication knows no bounds, sandblasting in the snow.
Also you have the patience of a saint where bodywork is concerned I’ve done bits of hand sanding myself and I don’t love it to say the least.
Great stuff as always.
Bodywork is the worst part but it will be awesome in the end! Ole Pablo definitely knew those words as he was standing there waiting! ☺️✌🏻🇺🇸🇨🇦

Ya Know Brent For HATING Bodywork SSOOO MUCH ,,,,, You Sure Do a Good Job 😉😉😉🤗🤗. God Bless !!
You can not be boring. If you left the bondo not sanded. It’s close to your color your going to paint it! Lol! Thank you for sharing!

I love your stuff. never miss one. I don't know why but watching you do body work always makes me want to yell out "Missed a spot!"
You're really blowing through this build I've thought it'd take you I'll fall 1/2 a winner looks like you're damn you're done another month or so at the speed you work Brent loved the videos thank you
haha it's going a little slower than I thought but takes a while to work with the camera and stuff so that slows a feller down a little
Oh the joys of them small lines around the door frames! Love pablo and his low energy responses, my dogs won't stay in the shop when tools are being used!
Same with buddy Pablo doesn't seem to care

Fantastic work but poor Pablo breathes all that dust.
*- I guess I failed to properly appreciate how "pulling dents" is so easy and works so well.*
There is a certain satisfaction in doing everything yourself....
Good Work, much better then I could do.
You got more skill, I get burned out fast.
I was a good motor rebuilder, in my day.
Your an excellent wiring harness guy too.
Thanks for the great videos, I appreciate everyone of them. Tell Pablo Hi from his fan club.

I did that crap for over 50 years bless you
Sure has come a long way perfect way of spending 👌 like it
Funny how you hate doing bodywork, hate Bondo and hate sanding yet your results are always so nice. Looking good, looking forward to the finished product, I’m sure it won’t disappoint.
Rear seat from 80s caravan fit perfect in 40 ford cab! The tack out seat inside rear hatch
great video , l really like you taking the time to shine on this build ! cab metal work shows how close the finish work with minimal bondo too finish ! keep the vids coming , thanks jim
Love watching this project unfold. Nice work Brent. Cheers.
