I really love this. It doesn't look like Harry Potter merch just threw up all over the room. It actually looks like she goes to Hogwarts and she's in house slytherin.
I love the subtle Harry Potter look. I've been slowly introducing this style into my apartment so my boyfriend doesn't notice I'm turning our home into Hogwarts😂😂

This felt a little off to me, you guys normally put in more effort. I guess the theme is very specific and not what you are used to, but the little touches that normally make your rooms pop are missing.

It was the lighting. The camera lens picked up the wrong color/lighting.
Don’t know if this is the look you might want with the papers but you could soak them in some plain black Coffe and then it gives a kinda older yellowy color

Being a true Harry Potter fan, I think I expected too much. The pictures fell flat for me, I loved the bed canopy clip idea, the night stand is cute but not too functional if you need a FLAT surface. Not too much decoration to the desk as the other makeovers. While I do love anything Harry Potter, but as a Slytherin this felt like a flop to me. But great job and a thumbs up from me!
@@mairimka8757 yes definitely a serving tray on top would provide a better surface. Maybe they couldn't do "real artwork" due to possible copyright infringement *shrugs* you never know! I really liked the light diy, but thinks they could have embellished a little bit more. Not like a super fan hp merch vomited but in a cute way
@@mairimka8757 oh and the reading nook was awesome, but maybe in the future she can add decals to the window. Book and quill journal could have been a cool addition
I think you could have gotten around the suitcase nightstand issue by making sure that they topmost suitcase was a very flat and structured one. It looked like theirs is a bit too rounded? I'm picturing a brown one like Lupin has in the 3rd year. I do love the colors they went with though.
The bright side is the *owner* of the room actually loves it - and that's all matter.

So they basically stuck a couple of book pages on the wall, stuck 1$ plastic vine and basic candles everywhere, and this piece of fabric above the bed. Seriously?
They even didn't draw a picture on the flag 😖

I appreciate that you don't go crazy on dorm renovations. It's such a temporary space and you do the perfect amount to make a space cozier, and give them a couple things to take with them when they move without going overboard. In fact most of what you did would fit in the hamper you gave her.
Is it me or are their make overs getting sadder and sadder?? Like printer paper quotes?? I wouldn't have paid for that.
a lot of people were complaining about them doing stuff that one can't recreate at home because the tools or skills weren't there. So I think here they tried to go the opposite direction - stuff you literally can do right now without big investments or a lot of work. I actually liked the pages DIY the most.

I think it depends on the budget? If you watch the makeover for Amandarachlee the room makeover is actually great for me.
Thriftstores have frames for those printed pictures, on average those cost 1 dollar or less
I don't know what the budget was, but this was quite underwhelming for me as well.

It would be cool to see you guys do an anti-allergy room! (I’m super allergic to house mites)
I'd love to see this too! Most of us with allergies can't have a ton of pillows, rugs, curtains, blankets, etc because they attract dust and other allergens.
I would also like something like this! My parents make sure I have the least amount of decoration due to it collecting dust.

I appreciate the effort, but not for nothing this fell really flat for me... none of the fabrics seemed to go together, and it was just ripped paper taped to a wall and a random canopy... but if she loved it that's what's important

They should have gave her some Harry Potter bedding and if they put the quotes kind of slanted on the wall and it would be cool if they used the teabag technic to make them look old that would be cool and they could have moved the furniture would have been cool

It’s like hogwarts meets minimalism! Love it. The perfect space for someone who doesn’t want to go overboard on decorating such a temporary space but it’s still cozy and has personality. I think I’ll be stealing ideas from this for my room
I don't like the "book pages" on the wall because they looked very very cheap but other than that it's super cute :)

It is cool but not Harry Potter themed. It was kinda weird how they said that it was really Harry Potter themed and they weren't even the colours of what a trunk in the wizarding world would look like.

What I like about this makeover is that it is very realistic that any student could afford to do with their dorm rooms. not over the top. Love it.

The suitcases can solve storage problems as well and they are so freaking gorgeous I'm soo doing this in my dorm room. Quick question though: in Eastern Europe a dorm room kinda has 4 beds in it and 4 random people squished in to live with each other. You guys think you can come up with some ideas for such rooms? This particular dorm room would be an exception in the U.S. At the University I went to, there were single rooms on each floor of a dormitory that were reserved for the "resident assistants," typically older students with the job of maintaining order on their floor. But the rest of the rooms on the floor were doubles, with barely enough room to change your clothes.
This room is literally perfect, like, it's not too much but just right. There's enough subtlety in it to be a dorm room.

I loved all the DIY stuff you guys did, especially with the limits of it being in a dorm, and it was awesome that it didn’t look like merch barf. Just a cute Slytherin dorm with enough personal touches to make it unique. Loved it!
from reading the comments on the dorm room videos, I think people are having too high expectations of Becky and Kelsey. You don't want to clutter it too much with items as it needs to be an office, room, kitchenette and sometimes bathroom (a lot of rooms have sinks in them) all in one. As well, these are young adults, not children. If you go too all out with a theme it can see childish and be a point of mockery for others in the residences. They're playing off Harry Potter, not turning the room into a picture from the book! As well, there is a budget to keep in mind. I think Becky and Kelsey know themselves this wasn't their best effort, but taking what I said into account, they did a very good job! Dorm rooms can be cute and trendy, but too much of anything is too much.

Not to start a discussion, but a secondhand 3 dollar light (like the one that Harry holds when he sneaks into the library) or a subtle laminated picture of a pixie, hidden in a drawer, or a printed picture of Potter-art, or a green, old-looking darkgreen box with a snake painted/stuck/sprayed on it, or a halfopened letter in a frame, or a small dragon-statue or whátever, could've been very classy and subtle. The above, in a thriftshop, would've been 10 dollar at the most (alltogether.)

The first dorm decorating diy I've ever seen that both actually looked great AND followed the dorm rules. And decorated a real dorm, lots of these things use big rooms and real furniture which you never find in a dorm.

I see some people are complaining in the comments about how little they did. But I feel they did really good with such little changes. I am actually inspired. It shows me that I don't need too many changes or too expensive changes. I just need to do the right things for the wibe. And I am glad they didn't make the whole room green. I like that blue corner that goes with the green in the room.

A lot of universities (in Canada) have moved away from shared dorms - it's just not the norm anymore.
I don’t care what color the curtains appear to be... you ladies did a fabulous job with her room!!! I wish you did that about 10 years ago so I could have DIYd my daughter and her bestie’s dorm!!!!

That is such a beautiful window! I would have taken the curtains off to let more light in, but I guess they stayed because of privacy and such.. Really like the simplest diy - ripped pages! Also the fake candles look really really cool. Haven't seen so realistic looking ones anywhere
