Watched lots yesterday and today. I am enjoying it from my comfy chair here in Moscow, Idaho. Hope you take every opportunity to enjoy yourself in SLC.
THANK YOU! I've already turned up a will for my great-great grandmother that I hadn't seen before. I am really excited to use this new tool. This is pretty cool indeed.
I can't believe how many Missouri land records I'm finding for different family members back in the 1800's. Trying to do this manually would take forever and you would probably miss a lot of them because of all the different years it covers. I'm finding records from the 1840's through the 1890's that are spread out through about 5 to 6 different counties.
Wow! Such exciting news… can’t wait to get in there and search. Thanks for sharing this information and so excited to see what this means for the future!
I watched yesterday...all day. Today there were glitches in streaming now and again. We'll see how it goes tomorrow. 3 huge collections! Mind bongeling. Very exciting. Thanks for sharing.
I was lucky enough to catch you live on TH-cam a couple of months ago. Is there a schedule you follow or can you tell me how I can watch you live. Thanks Denise Thomas-Smith
Thanks for watching! I don't have a set schedule for my livestreams (yet), so the best way to find out about them is to subscribe to the channel and turn notifications on. That being said, I am having a livestream tonight (March 7) at 7:00pm Eastern with a full recap of RootsTech announcements. You can check it out here: th-cam.com/users/live4Gp6hjs-4Xs
I am with you on this! This truly was a quiet Sunami of genealogical heaven. 💜💜💜 I'm thinking of how it could be used in Catholic Parish Records in Ireland!! Or French Candian Notarial records!!
The searchable feature from Famliysearch is exciting. I just tried it out whilst watching your video and already found 1 1805 land record that mentions one of my ancestors in a land transfer between 2 other people that wouldn't have shown up in the index. I wonder if AI will be better at reading some of this old hand writing than I am :)
Tried it out, while watching your video, and found what may be a GG-grandfather, in a deed in White county, IL! He has been a bit of a brick wall, because he has gotten conflated with another man with the same name, who lived in Effingham County IL. I will definitley be digging into this further.
I just saw this and yes I was with so many wonderful classes that were presented. I don’t trust AI . Can I still get to the classes still in April? I just heard you say about the handwriting reading by AI and I am thankful for that!
Does this full-text search, vs. indexing, portend the demise of 'proprietary' database searches? Is this a step toward democratizing genealogical information?
I just tried this tool with a few people I'm working on, and although it is cool, you can't put in tags or locations NOT to include in the search. Also, being able to put in quotes name or phrases that you want to stick together would be great.
You can use quotation marks for an exact phrase. The problem is that if the handwriting recognition is a bit off (or if a word is spelled differently than your search) it won’t show up.
The stream seemed to work well.. did not see it live... but the beackground noise is not too bad. your voice is coming through well... but the overall volume was kinda low.
A lot of countries don't have births, deaths and marriage records until really late, for instance mid 1930's. Also, a lot of people in those countries have only one name. Family Search wants people to have first and surnames, but people just didn't have that for instance in England, the Poll Tax made the difference, but many countries didn't have that either. So, many dates are just best guesses, and people have just one name.

I found it on the home page, on the right, under Record Hints and under Recent People, A box "Family Search Labs"
I found it! OMIGOSH ... what a treasure! Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention.

Yep! I attended yesterday. :)
I was able to watch a few classes online today. Will the new feature pop up on Research Help hints?
Not yet. You’ll need to search these sets of records.
I watched several online from where I live Deep in the Heart of Texas.
What is a good syntax when searching records using this tool?
I’m still working with it, but it defaults to treating more than one word as “or” rather than “and.” Use plus signs for required words.
Me. It’s 1st March in Australia though. I started at four am and have watched five sessions so far.
Oh yeah! Stream or creek name!!!! Thinking out of the box! You’re so smart!
How long will these be in this special place? Will they just be matched up as hints soon?
I doubt they will be showing up as hints anytime soon. The full-text search itself is still considered "experimental."
Good question! It will be interesting to see how all of this develops.

I was hoping Family Search would say something about their Full Text Search, and I'm glad they have.
Stop by and say hi at the APG booth! I'd love to meet you.
I didn't see any of RootsTech. I was registered, but kids make any other life pursuits difficult sometimes.
Thank you.
Me. Online. Loved Henry Cho!
He was funny!
Amy, I just have to watch remotely from Chicago. --Alan Wilson
I watched 2 or 3 sessions yesterday
