Great vid Max. As mentioned, I’m looking forward to part 2 where you make it around and then part 3 where you drop my fat arse! Catch you in Noosa town soon 👌
@@CamNicholls Haha yes! Now that I’ve learnt my mistakes, will definitely be back for a part 2… no chance of dropping you 🤣 thanks again mate, see you soon 🥳

Did this bunch back when the tri was on, it was rad. Hot tip that I use for joining new bunches is getting the GPX file if you can and add it to your computer, can suss out the climb profiles but also get guidance for turns etc. Just one less thing to think about.
Definitely a sick ride! Probably should’ve done that so I know what’s coming up, when turns are etc like you mention. Will do this in the future to avoid getting dropped, thanks for the hot tip mate 👌🏻👍🏻
Thanks Damian, funnily enough it was you who suggested I try it out originally on one of my older videos! Were you there on this day? Very spicy, doing too many watts even to hold wheels 🤣
Yep I was there Max. Found myself tucked away in the pack getting sucked along for the ride. I’m 50+ so we are allowed to do that! Lots of strong locals and imports driving it hard with half the pack got dropped (close to 20 riders).
Good vid @ItsMaxMann - another thing to consider when bunch riding is don’t try to move up when the pressure is on, at one stage you were pushing between 600w to 900w to move up, yet very shortly after the road went downhill and so you can move up with less effort - means more in the tank for later. Also try to sit ‘on wheels’ more often as opposed to being out in the ‘wind’. Great coverage - Keep learning and training 😊
@@michaelgriffith2414 Yeah I did that because the group was so big, I didn’t want to be dangling at the back… probably should’ve just sat back and waited but from experience, if you are at the back that’s where people lose the wheels. That push to the front was dumb tho so I completely agree with you 😂 Thanks mate, only can get better 👍🏻
Happens to us all just before a spicy uphill especially if unfamiliar with the course. Done it plenty of times! And in races. So much easier in the wheels working off the guys in front and using that momentum, as it just sucks you straight past the guy riding the front at ~5kph+ faster. Can be very hard to up the pace and accelerate up to speed to catch the draft on the back of the bunch if you're already just done an effort.
Exactly right, its a lesson I've learnt now though. Need to just sit back and hold wheels on the first time with a group, especially if you know there is potentially an upcoming pinch. Next time i'll sit in more and hopefully last the way!
