Shimane: Japan's hidden gem region that rewards adventurous travellers | Newshub

This prefecture of Japan is relatively remote and difficult to get to, but as Newshub travel journalist Daniel Rutledge explains, those who make the effort to get there are rewarded with a thoroughly genuine and alternative Japanese experience.
Shimane has a slower pace than much of the country with vast rural areas to explore and relax in. It also carries enormous cultural significance, particularly the Izumo area, which is often referred to as the birthplace of Japan and the province of the gods.
