What I loved even more when Kiyoka didn't see Fuyu as his mother. Deep down kiyoka mother figure is the goat 🐐 Yurie. Its even mentioned in the manga and light novel Yurie raised him

I’m just so sick of seeing passive mom or dad not doing anything or little when for example in this case the mom literally insulted quote on quote his guest and didn’t even confront his wife, no wonder Kudo rarely comes home. (And THE INSULTS OH MY GOD HOW DID SHE GET AWAY WITH THAT so bad)
The worst part of it all, is that Miyo is literally nothing without Kudo by her side. She is too introverted and shy to stand up bravely for herself, to the extreme.

The last time she stood up for herself the last of her birth mom’s stuff was crushed by her step mother, she was locked in a shed for who knows how long and the only maid who cared about her got fired. Then when she stood her ground and refused to break her engagement to Kiyoka she was tortured by her sister and step mother. Plus with how his mother acts, she’d probably be even harsher than her step mom and sister which would cause Miyo to relapse even more.

There is a reason why PTSD is a thing, and trauma can shape daily responses that seem out of the norm for most people. Mio is naturally demure, humble, soft-spoken, and self-conscious who is unassuming of her place anywhere-let alone the family of the husband she dearly cherishes. She grew up cherishing her mother as the only source of happiness in a family that didn't want her, so this tension between Kiyoka and his mother is even more complex for her to tackle.

I can see you points but Miyo has had too much done to her to be able to properly stand up for herself. That's exactly my point. Miyo should weaponise her bad experiences against his mother and stand up for herself. If she just lets Kiyoka defend her, she won't be able to prove towards his family and him, why she is a worthy wife.
It's the reason, that her child chose to marry a girl like Miyo that made her have this strained relationship him. She doesn't like her, but retaliates to him for that.

She is the reason why he decided to live in a modest home and rejected all the proposals from elite family. He hated every woman that resembles his mother. Miyo win his heart by being down to earth and 'traditional', allowing him to feel some sort of feminine care. Something that his mother never gave him, maternal attention. But from looking at this, he is also too similar with his mother but in the completely opposite direction.
