I totally agree about flabby men. Both my husband and I are plus sized yet we both work out. And I would love to see both of us represented in a romance novel.

Omg yes finally !!! I am not plus size but I’m sick and tired of reading about everyone character being petite or with a 6 pack ( and they never work out ) . Please please please read Only work , No play by Cora Reilly . It’s about a athlete who falls in love with her plus size assistant . What I love about this book is it showed how hard the guy works to stay athletic and works for his body but it also shows that the heroin is totally not converting into that and how he thinks she is so amazing without the superficial lifestyle he sees all the time . Also they are both funny and have great chemistry!!! Let me know if you loved it as much as I did .

I don't read as much YA Fantasy anymore. There are still a few authors I will pick it up for. But I will read NA Fantasy if I find it.

I hate when authors and publishing claim that characters are plus size but when you look at the covers the images are slim to average size people like wtf. If they not fat on the cover they are not fat, and I feel like they're just trying to get our money 🤨
I really like the fact that you chose books with curvy women and women of color. Natavia is a huge paranormal author in the black community that writes her female characters to be plus sized.
Yeah, the great part is, I didn't even set out to do that, but the Black women I read just had the best big girl books. So that made me really happy when I put my list together.

I can’t seem to find plus size FMCs that don’t hate themselves, are always dieting/needing to workout etc. like we don’t all hat ourselves.

This is is my favorite Sherilyn Kenyon book!!! Need to reread it.
In a lot of Kristen Ashley's books, the character's body type is described just enough to let the reader know she's not as petite as a runway model, but few specific details are given for a specific image, which allows readers to picture her as they prefer.
Also, the romantic lead's perception of her body type (positive and flattering) is expressed, usually about a couple of attributes that allude to a curvey figure, which helps to guide readers to picture her as curvey.
If you're looking for more plus sized heroines to read about, all of Olivia Dade's books have plus sized women. I haven't read any yet but she's been on my tbr since her first book was published 😅

A book with a curvy heroine where the hero bullied her in high school is Here’s Looking at You by Mhairi McFarlane. Like you said it is cathartic and just an overall good romance.

I just read Four Nights with the Duke by Eloisa James and that had GREAT plus rep. I really felt a kinship with the heroine. and it was interesting because the duke was kinda sorta a bully to her by accident, and then she blackmails him into marrying her for.... reasons. good reasons... so I loved it.
Sugar Jamison wrote a series about plus size/curvy women romance. The series is called: A Perfect Fit Novel/Novella. These are strong, talented women with their strong, talented partners, who love them.

I love Katee Robert's Wicked Villains! Ursa was my favorite from that book too!! But also not my fav from the series. I think Worthy Opponent or Beast is my fav.
Love this list! Definitely want to check these out! Also Sweetest in the Gale by Olivia Dade (her novella collection) and Teach Me are also plus size women. (also older women, mids 40s, and a few of guys are described as having "dad bods")
So true! Duke's with abs just make me roll my eyes... Its why I really liked West from the Ravenels by Lisa Kleypas. He starts out as a flabby rake who drinks too much, and as he gives it up and starts working the farm, he gets fit... love that

I hate how people who aren't fat love to tell us how we're supposed to be represented. There are types of plus-sized women, and we can be represented in multiple ways. That's it.
I definitely agree about this. That is why I struggle to find good representation when I recommend novels... but in all honesty, if I find a book that has good rep for fat peeps, I'm happy. But honesty, I don't notice body types when reading unless the author continually points it out. I can imagine a heroine however I want unless it's explained over and over again. Haha!
But a few of these ones were good. And some of the authors who wrote them are plus sized themselves. So that helps

I just finished "Never Loved" and love it!!! 😘👌 And I find "Her Sweet Alpha" very similar to "Night Play" by Sherrilyn Kenyon, this book has a plus size heroine and a shape shifter too.😉
