    Would very much enjoy a series on the Sonible products, or even more interviews with their development team. Loved your interview with their CMO. A comparison series between the Pure and Smart plugins would also be neat. Might even be worth throwing in the FAST plugins from Focusrite since they use Sonible algorithms. I sense Sonible is going to be at the forefront of AI/machine learning software, so jumping on now seems like a good idea. As someone new to mixing, their AI is seriously speeding up my learning of mixing techniques. It's like having someone next to you while you mix alone, offering hints and suggestions on what might sound good. Can't recommend their stuff enough.

    I very much enjoy watching you with a new plugin and I appreciate the occasional fumble with controls. The fact that you let us mortals see this is a true comfort when I’m staring at a new interface and trying to remember why I bought it. :-)

      Does it cut under 1k? I can't stand most of the ripping/distorted sounds and by cutting everything under 1k in a sibilance really makes it sweeter

    I'm kind of on the fence about buying the Sonible smart plugins, because I don't NEED another eq, another compressor, etc. But, learning more about the extra bits and bobs that these plugins can do might just be what makes up my mind to buy, so happy to see future videos covering those.

    Sonible really does some good stuff. One suggestion - would it be possible to make a quick comment on the latency on plugins you test in the future. Obviously it doesn't really matter for mixing engineers, but a lot of us producers use mixing tools during production and latency can really kill the usefulness of a plugin! It's been especially noticeable with newer spectral and/or ML/AI plugins compared to the dumber ones from yesteryear :) Cheers

    • @Fastvoice
      @Fastvoice 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      ... and maybe some words about the CPU usage. I have several sonible plugins and they seem to use a lot of it - up to the point where other plugins (from UAD) are getting disabled in a DAW session.

    • @alexbreyer6921
      @alexbreyer6921 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Even for people who are mixing...you get to a point in a production where you realize an overdub or punch in needs to happen, but you've already done all kinds of processing. That latency can affect the performance when you are trying to throw things in there.

    Finding that Sonible plugins big time savers on my work. I typically record live events that go for hours. I've found a lot of the other de-essing plugins way too fussy unless you are working on just one song/one performance at a time. On many occasions I've had to resort to manually reducing plosives and sibilance.

    Often instead of removing the S (knocking the singer’s teeth out), I just want to change the S characteristics to be smoother (implants).
    Waves Sibilance held a lot of promise with Organic Resynthesis, they promised to do just that. I wonder how Sonible Dees stacks up against Waves Sibilance?

    • @amusik7
      @amusik7 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm actually using both and I must say the Waves Sibilance is still my favourite for de-essing. No matter how hard you push it it's just so good and natural sounding without any artefacts. I have had some issues with the Sonible Deess that it can sound lispy or oddly digital on certain sounds (I'm not sure if my ears are failing me - but that's what I thought). On the other hand, it's amazingly good at plosives. So I'm super happy using Sonible for plosives and Waves Sibilance for de-essing.

    Service post on "What's a phoneme?"
    A phoneme is the top category of phons with a phon being a single utterance of a speech sound - for example: [s]. All [s] that anyone ever uttered are then part of the phoneme /s/.
    I expected the plug-in to treat different phonemes, differently (like for example the sibilants in thick, sick and chic). But apparently it's only making a difference between plosives and sibilants which are categories above phonemes.

    While I really love Sonible plugins and the Deess is not an exception, it lacks a crucial thing. Did you hear that it doesn't recognize "f's"? Not just a tiny bit, no, completely. Which means that I have to manually correct every "f" or use a second de-esser. Quite a big miss in my book. Other than that it is the quickest and best sounding de-esser I have ever used, software and hardware wise.
