First, Arne, that sweater is FABULOUS! Second, I absolutely ADORE the black and white woman's sweater with the big flower and the men's black and white sweater. I love living in Florida, but the lack of opportunities to wear sweaters is a drawback.
Loved this Sit and Knit for a bit. I feel like I was able to get out of the house with you. You guys are so entertaining. Never a boring episode. Thank you.
Such fun listening to you as usual.I used to make all my dolls clothes and accessories too, knitted and crocheted. We take our shoes off in Australia, we live on acreage and have chickens that free roam. You only learn that lesson once.
In the beginning of this video you fooled me, I thought could your house become any more beautiful! Tricky!!! Arne Your sweater is beautiful. It would take me ten years just to knit one arm 😁. I love the new crochet pattern. Just another project to fit into my time. Lovely to see your design on the cover of Rowan. So talented you men are. I hope you had a wonderful trip and don't give up on Helmer!! He will learn.
You are artists. You can’t teach that. Love your chats. I’m not a knitter but I enjoy watching your creativity like admiring a beautiful painting. Thanks for sharing.
Totally agree with you both regarding the colour scheme and choosing colours. Carlos is right about the colour work and can waste time trying to figure out what colour goes with what. Thank you both. xx
And I forgot to say, in Bosnia and Herzegovina we take off our shoes, and expect our guests to do the same. It's a cultural thing - tradition and hygienic. And I always have slippers for guests in several different sizes! Thank you for today's Sit and Knit, I love "hanging out" with you two!
Love all your new Rowan designs before I even knew you'd done them. But honestly: Please put up a pattern for sale on Arne's sweater! I understand it was a scrap project, but the color selection and placement, combined with the stitch patterns, is just terrific! Re: Helmer, we had to train our dog out of her separation anxiety. Tell her goodbye and take care of the house, see ya later, etc., toss a few tiny treats toward her, then close the door. Wait one minute, come back in and ignore the dog. Repeat a thousand times, just increasing the interval you're gone. Worked beautifully. Good luck!
I loved the episode! You are in a beautiful space today. You are always so respectful of each other’s comments and ideas. It is so enjoyable to watch. Thank you !
I do not crochet, BUT, those cute flowers are going to make me want to learn!! Loved this episode. I don't comment much, but had to this time. I started watching your podcast early on during the pandemic. It has given me joy and relaxation while my home is very full of remote working students and spouse. Thanks for that.
Love the Helmer Houdini story. He's like some of my cats: opening doors and wanting to be with you everywhere. At home i never close a door behind me, because first there will be a sing along and then they will open it by jumping on the handle. So the front door is always on an extra lock they can't open because it is round.
I had a german shepard as a child who could open doors (even the ones with knobs) and open windows too. The windows was especially a problem since if we locked the door she'd get out through the windows and she'd show up at my school (which was less then a block away at the time). She didn't escape to wander around, she'd escape to find me at school, I think she had a bit of seperation anxiety.
I love you guys so much. And it's so sweet that the first thing you do in your getaway is talk about your dogs! You're such great doggy parents, you keep thinking of their welfare even when you're on vacation. Love your podcast, and listen to every one of them. Thanks for being there! Keep up the great work! I love the way you guys think, work, and care for one another and the world. The world is a better place with you in it. I love to sit and work on my knitting projects while listening to your podcast. Still get a chuckle about Porridgegate, all these months later.
My husband's German grandmother had a dresser in the summer kitchen of her house where she stored mittens, hats, slippers, shopping bags, etc. Anyone who entered the house that didn't immediately go to get a pair of slippers very promptly got told quite forcefully to go and get slippers on. She had every size and style in that drawer.
Hi guys, another 'smile for a while'. Helmer's intelligence will certainly provide you with hours of head scratching. I don't know how any visitors on Sit and Knit for a Bit would top your current show?? You are a unique duo. Love your down to earth ways and natural behaviour. Your Rowan designs are beautiful. Good to see you both . xxxx
Carlos you should know it’s the darkness in the closet that makes clothes shrink. Sometimes they get lonely and afraid and just tighten up from stress. They need light and air to remain their original size. 😊❤️ Oh my, you made me laugh so hard when you tried to take your shoes off I had tears in my eyes. You two are so funny.
Arne’s sweater is so beautiful and so is Carlo’s Norlender. I would love to try the doll pattern and the poodle pattern. I need to start a crochet project. The blanket would be perfect. Looking forward to the surprise! So glad you are having a good outing. Your episodes are never too long!

This room is lovely and before you spoke I thinking wow, you had really kept this room a secret from us... ha ha I love the background sounds it definitely sounds like a hotel and your voices sound wonderful..... At any rate this is quite lovely and such a good idea...
Helmer is a puppy still and a smart one at that. During COVID you have been home and now he just needs to know that you will come back. Once things go back to normal he will become adjusted to being left as you travel more often. Maybe the people who look after him could take him for a car ride more often so that becomes normal and he is comfortable -- he could go to that house for a couple of hours and them pick him up. Then all would seem normal. Good to be out and about though and feeling normal. Ottawa is locked down as is all of Ontario. Be safe!!!
It has been so enjoyable to catch up on these episodes. Every one of them is special, and this one was no exception. I felt as though I were there with you, in your "newly renovated sitting room" LOL. I'm so glad you were able to get out of the house and stay in a lovely hotel. The granny squares are so lovely. They will make for a gorgeous blanket. It's nice to have a project you can work on together while you're away from home. It reminds me of one of the early profile pictures you had on your Facebook page of both of you working on the granny squares outside on your porch. I found the discussion on how your design process works quite fascinating. It is true, though, that putting colours together cannot be taught. It is an innate skill, I find, and your particular way of putting colours together is your signature. I just loved Arne's sweater. It just amazes me that he can just start knitting and make up patterns and combine colours on the go and so quickly. Fascinating! Thank you for taking the time during your busy schedule to make this podcast.
Love your new fabulous Drawing Room lol. I also love your Valentina Doll but I guess I will have to be patient and wait for the pattern. Enjoy the rest of your stay Guys.
Is the vaccine available to you all there? In Arizona its available to 16 year olds and up now. But we are still just under 50% vaccinated. I just had my 2nd yesterday!
Loved this one where you are away. So inspiring to see your granny square blankets, haven’t made one for years since I was a little girl. I would love to have a pattern for the doll you brought and maybe by this time she is out. I also have your doll book so perhaps by changing yarn and needle size she’d be almost the same. Thank you two for sharing your days with us, I feel so happy and inspired when I watch. Be well and stay happy and healthy you two.😊❤️
Love, love, love your “stash yarn” sweater, Arne! It looks fabulous. My stash is big, but not with enough different yarns to do something like that.... of course if I go look, I may find otherwise😉. My treat in the mail recently was a package of lovely yarn from a shop in Victoria, BC (Beehive Wool Shop, it has been there for over 100 years, I think), with skeins of Brooklyn Tweed Loft that I will use to make your pullover formerly called “Save the Children.” Lovely rich green for the top, and a nice grey for the bottom! Thanks for the away from home episode, it was great!
I'd love make this cute little doll for my youngest grandchild as I sewed some for my older ones. Although the dolls looked tattered after some time it was worth the work. The kids loved them, somehow they seemed to feel the energy and love that went into those projects.
I found your discussion of the development of a design to actual knitted garments fascinating. Thanks for the brief view into your world of knitting design. Once again I was sewing a bit while listening. Your podcast works well for sewing as well as knitting and I sew better than I knit.
I really must come for a holiday in Norway and bring a whole load of WIPs with me. In a land where 15 mins becomes 50 I should be able to get so much done. Great podcast as always!
Hi Boys Love the Granny Square blanket, and yes please would love the pattern for your beautiful doll and her jumper. And whilst we are on the subject of jumpers your stash jumper Arne is gorgeous. Take care keep safe and we will see you soon. 👵
Lots of people are afraid of color. I'm not a master designer, but I quilt, knit (easy stuff) and crochet. I think that color sense is instinctive, as you have said. I think it's easy to take cues from nature, just for starters. Gardens: there are no "wrong" combinations there. I've been inspired by design books, art....what makes me feel good. My only no-no is overall drabness. ;) Thanks for not taking your pants off. hahaha
Your Doll is beautiful. Felted Eyebrows sounds great and eyelids would relax the dolls stare. Pre pandemic I went for years to a local art weekly portrait group. You've inspired me to look at my stash of portraits. Most on fabric using inktense pens ink stitch & paint and need to go into a quilt. Oooh another her UFO Jen x
Arne & Carlos you enrich my life, and I want to thank you for that 😘💐😘💐

I found your discussion of the development of a design to actual knitted garments fascinating. Thanks for the brief view into your world of knitting design. Once again I was sewing a bit while listening. Your podcast works well for sewing as well as knitting and I sew better than I knit.
You're welcome Lynn and no pressure to knit!
Wow that was a great change of scenery! What a beautiful hotel. I’d buy that Rowan book just for the pictures ❤️
It is beautiful!
Omg! Your designs are so beautiful! I adore them! Bravo! 🥰👏👏
Hysterical! Love your crazy sense of humor!
Thank you!
I really must come for a holiday in Norway and bring a whole load of WIPs with me. In a land where 15 mins becomes 50 I should be able to get so much done. Great podcast as always!
Yes you do!
Oh yes, please! I'd love the doll pattern!
💗
Hi Boys
Love the Granny Square blanket, and yes please would love the pattern for your beautiful doll and her jumper. And whilst we are on the subject of jumpers your stash jumper Arne is gorgeous. Take care keep safe and we will see you soon. 👵
You too Molly!
My only no-no is overall drabness. ;)
Thanks for not taking your pants off. hahaha
You are welcome!
LOVE Arne’s sweater made from your yarn stash! I’m hoping that’s the same pattern that is in your Favorites book. 🤩❤️
Arne your sweater is beautiful! I also love granny squares, also the doll is adorable, it would be a great pattern.
Thank you!
You should do that!
I vote she keeps her smoky eyes! I love her!
Thank you!
Sun, wind, rain, and horizontal snow… it sounds very much like a normal day in Newfoundland, Canada!
