It's not so easy to play the instrument and at the same time singing - this guy is totally awsome!
Which is why Kai Hanson moved over and got Michael Kiske to sing, back in the early Helloween days. That was a good choice.
@@krickerd yeah it was too difficult, but since then he made huge progress, which I am really glad, because his voice is so raw yet charming, if you know what I mean. I just hope he doesn't forget about Gamma Ray
I tried many times, back when I was 17-20 years old, Master of Puppets song and required SO much practice and patience to do both things right, never nailed it completely. It's very hard.
@@krickerd kai back in 1986 moved to just guitar at the time because his voice got worn out and hurt from touring almost 2 years straight also at the time he was taking singing lessons which started around the time of the mini lp.
As for micheal kiske he was not the first choice that was ralph sheepers
But he turned helloween down at the time. So they approached micheal kiske who at first was also turning them down. And only finnaly agreed to join helloween at the last minute after kai had pretty much sung the whole keepers one album.
And was pretty much mixed except for the lead guitars.
Personally I am more of a kai fan for helloween and ralph sheepers fan.
This song sounds a bit musically like man on a mission from gamma rays land of the free mixed in with some old school stratovarius.
But still sounds unique which is good.
As for the kai comparisons musically
Both Tommy and kai are a rare breed because both are good at singing and both are great lead and rhythm guitar players who can play a lot of different styles.
Where most guitarists that sing typically only play rhythm guitar.
Or if they ate great at guitar tend to just focus on one or the other.
In a band.
Majestica is candy for musicians. Everyone gets a chance to shine and all do it well.

How tommy reaches those notes is simply mind blowing.
There are a few great metal singers with that range lately. It's mind blowing.
As someone that can hit these notes and have some degree of confidence while singing power metal for refence let me just say it is an insane amount of work.
I wouldn't say I practiced the hardest but I would push my self and train moderately, it took me about 5 years starting from knowing nothing about vocals to being where I am now.
Granted my teachings have all been self taught, that 5 year span probably could had been halved with a good tutor.
He's gone down some octaves from the original recording. He can still sing brilliantly but it does annoy me at times when singers compose things that they can't do live like Metallica composing in standard tuning but then have to go down by a semi tone live or sabaton (seven pillars of wisdom) for example. Take nothing away from their talent. I just think that if you're gonna compose something that you know you can pull off live then make sure you're capable of doing it.

I love the second verse. It sounds like something every musician writes as a place holder while you try to find real lyrics, but eventually give up and accept that its not that bad...

He is doing one hell of a fkn job singing that way and playing those particular riffs. You can be an extraordinary guitarist and on point, and as soon as you try to sing along too (let alone lead singer) either your hands or your voice/vocal performance go to sh!t and off time. You realize you have to practice more than most people care or have the patience to eventually do it right.
Holy shit I came here from a sabaton video and got my world rocked. Not only is tommy a super good guitar player he also as a really great voice.

Oh wow 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 this song is awesome..then the guitar dancin back & forth into the bass solo then the drum solo. The composition, lyrics, Tommys Vocals ( totally Amazing) bandmates are Top Shelf❤
That bass in the beginning and the initial scream gives me goosebumps every time. Remember it from the Boden show. It is good on the recording but totally different live.
So it is possible for Tommy to play this song on only one guitar 😂😂

He only says "this" for a bit longer than usual, and by the time he gets to the word "different", he's back on normal timing anyway. Sorted himself out very quickly to be fair :), And while playing guitar. Which is way better than some people who would be behind for the whole rest of the verse without realising/not know what to do about it.

When he does something even remotely close we can talk about it but so far, not even close.
