This reminds me so much of being 17. Frequenting the Tranceaddict forum for mixes. Trance was my first love in a way. Got a set of turntables when I was 14. I just remember being utterly captivated by dance music, trance in particular by around 2003. Tracks such as this seemed to sound so clean and fresh. Productions in particular up to and including about 2006 hit the spot for me- they were innovative, driving and uplifting. They were a massive part of my life, as I'm sure they were for you too if you're listening to this track and reading comments. For anyone feeling wistful about days gone by, you shouldn't be. You were connected to and participated in something amazing, and it'll always be a part of you. Be thankful and satisfied, and enjoy the memories!

Anyway, this music being almost 20 years old still brings so much joy and emotions. Nothing better was produced that na pure, virgin, uplfitging trance from a peak of this genre - very late 90s and early 00'. Everything after 2006 was good, but not a classic anymore.
45 here. I used to get to Orkideas gigs since I'm a Finn like Orkidea is. He had his own radio program too in late 90s where he played his own and other artists music and I still have the cassettes of those programs... well two is missing actually. Orkidea is in my mind the absolute best what comes to trance.
So hard to believe Anjuna fell from grace so hard and so far. :-( Still we have this historical track to hold onto until the end of our lives!! 2005 saw the release of Luminary - Amsterdam, now this vinyl costs £100 on Discogs!! Its literally worth its weight in gold, thats way more than I can say for anything Anjuna related past 2010.

I miss the old Anjunabeats label 🥺 and the uniquely Anjunabeats sound only they had. They still come out with a decent track here and there, but much of the good stuff is on Anjunadeep and it isn't what I would classify as trance really at all.

I absolutely feel you my friend. Vinly only/classic nights are one way (thank you to Wax Format), several producers also focus heavily on classic tracks in their sets. The closest in the current day are possibly Neptune Project and The Thrillseekers pres. Hydra imo, very beautiful uplifting trance.
This is a true statement to the trance genre as an whole: Timeless, truly ahead of its time, a true example that shows that this kind of immortal music will never fade away and will remain nº1 in everyone´s hearth´s the moment they listen to it and understands it! Amém

Paavo & Super 8 were such a good combo back then, I wish they could release music like this one again, but time changes, and I still love the entire anjuna roster as of today :D
Oh yeah, he's produced some classics (Child still sounds incredible), but in my opinion his best work are his remixes on other labels. Also, and this is speculation, but I think there was a falling out between Anjuna and DK, hence why he signed a few tracks with Enhanced and set up his own label with them. Nevertheless, Anjuna own his tracks on the label so they can post them if they want to! I just don't think it's likely.
Artists like Nitrous Oxide, Robert Nickson, Dan Stone, & DK were basically forced off of the label because they refused to produce trouse. Others like Sunny Lax and Oli Smith caved in to the new sound.
Top Kek yeah, that’s the one thing i don’t like Anjunabeats, i don’t think they forced them, I think those artists just lost a lot of confidence producing the style they are best at producing on a label that didn’t promote such productions anymore, as for Oli and Sunny, they just probably decided it would be best to be well-rounded production-wise
I get so happy listening to the Tri-State album, yet equally as sad when I'm reminded they don't care for their own classic tracks anymore. Like you said, mixes and new tracks honestly seem aimed at wiping away their own past sound that made them legendary. Present day sets almost never include any classic mixes, mostly filled with harsh electro influenced sounds. I feel they have a new target audience that is bigger in number and younger in age, and I'm just sitting here prepared to give my first future-born in exchange for the occasional classics set. I truly am sad about the shift, yet A&B were so insanely brilliant their tracks are played often multiple times in others sets in the present time. The crowd is always singing along heartily to Satellite, Sun & Moon, A Thing Called Love, we adore the classic A&B sound and will continue play such timeless works.
Labels change and evolve cant really talk bad about them just seek new labels and artist. 2 of my favorite labels right now are INTRICATE RECORDINGS and ELLIPTICAL SUN MUSIC. very good labels
Don't think so, but it's an unpopular opinion.. When I first heard it transitioning in the Anjunabeats 100 compilation I couldn't hide my happiness when the melodies came in.
No need u just have to look hard and you will find good trance. Just because the artist that were good back in the days changed their style doesnt mean its gone u just have to look deep
