Incredible Bending Techniques Curved Bento Boxes - A Fusion of the Warmth of Wood and Skilled Hands

  • Hello everyone,
    When I was a kid, my dad has told me about the reduction of manpower of traditional trades due to the industrialization and modernization of Japanese society, traditional products started to become out-dated and forgotten.
    #japanesewoodworking #bendingtecniques #BentoBox
    However, they’re still young people who spend all of their careers carrying on the tradition. We'd like to honor them as much as we can. So I decided to create a series of video shows about them and their work from the footage available from my friends and myself.
    Today, This video will be more attractive because I have edited the script, rewrote the content, new effects work, new music, new footage added and a new creation is created as follows: "Incredible Bending Techniques Curved Bento Boxes - A Fusion of the Warmth of Wood and Skilled Hands"
    This time our main character is a Odate Magewappa Craftswoman: Ms. Nakazawa Eri (仲澤 恵梨さん)
    Master Magewappa Craftsman (Chairmain): Mr. Shibata Yoshinobu (柴田 慶信さん)
    And his son (Manager): Mr. Shibata YoshiMasa

    Dear Sir/Madam,
    As always a pleasure to see quality crafts being made. I wonder how many Japanese are aware that their Bento box was made possibly from century old trees? Eating from one must be quite an experience. Kind regards.

    • @johnnymeansii
      @johnnymeansii 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really. Stock that thin and soft is unlikely to kick back given the relatively high sawblade. Personally, I would opt for a riving knife, but I tend towards the overly cautious.

    • @phylismaddox4880
      @phylismaddox4880 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I still think in terms of error, not so much kickback. That close, inside, the slightest mistake becomes critical.

    But, this stuff is expensive... Did I say expensive?
    I meant EXPENSIVE!!!
    I was an exchange student 35 years ago so my Japanese is a little shaky, but the oblong box at 6•28 is $130.

    ok i understand the in video titles are most likely from the company this video is about .... just a suggestion for an edit ... lumbered or lumbering is the process of harvesting the trees ... milling is the process of making that lumber into the resources for the work to be done with it.
    .
    I would truly love to see a video on the history of the planes they use though .. how did they come from stone tools to these excellent tools .. what is the progression .. what problems did they encounter and the basic ideas behind why they built their tools like this and not some other way

    Pretty and talented . Quite a catch. Scary to see her unsafe work habits though around the table saw. One moment of inattention and bam she will be missing fingers or a hand. The boxes are a delight for the eyes.

    When the lady was ripping the pieces, the saw blade was much too high, it should only be slightly higher than the piece for safety, also she should use a push stick.

  • @nettyneuron4242
    @nettyneuron4242 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Whats it about the japanese and their dedication and reverence to work. One doesnt need to know the language to see how immersed and focussed they are in making these bento and rice bowls. At the end, the approval nod to her from her master..their eyes.. say it all..
    She does need to get a push stick and keep those hands safe but again safety is not high on the totem pole is most of the non western world.

      Your comment tells me you are a self righteous liberal hypocrite. Those trees were planted 200 years ago for the people to use it. Likewise every generation plants, care and preserve trees and forest for the future generations. The Japanese are known for their love of trees and everything wooden and its craftsmanship. You are just another frog in a well, a deluded soul who thinks he knows everything.
