MEE6, which has been the biggest discord bot for a while now, has been engaging in some pretty shady/scummy activities, as well as slowly and slowly turning into a money pit by making even the most BASIC bot features locked behind their premium.

You know normally I don't tend to talk much outside of the realm of gaming....but from the bottom of my heart...thank you. Stumbling across your videos and No Text To Speech I had no idea all this corporate greed, diminishing features and NFT scams were happening with mee6. The thing that really got my goat was the intrusive ads that they could give members (things clearly against the discord TOS). I might be a minority, but your video influenced me to convert to Sapphire. I want to fully give credit to the creators who deserve it.

did you give every permission, also, with the join roles section, the [Users need to pass the rules screening to get roles] if you dont have rules set up but have the tab selected does it bring up its own rules or just bypasses it and gives the role out if theirs no rules setup? Cheers.

As far as it being redundant to have both, with both of these bots being utility bots that offer a lot of the same features, you only really need 1 instead of 2 or 3 different ones

Hey there! I'm trying to open the sapphire bot in Chrome but it says that it's not really safe to use this bot. What do I do?
I always used mee6 only for music and music quiz, I use probot or carlbot, in some servers hydra for moderation

By the way just discovered your channel and it has helped me immensely in setting up my own Discord channel, kudos!!
So, some servers use it to allow users to self grant them access to certain channels, (so that they don't have to be contacting mods to "please grant me this role. "
Mostly, it's used in larger servers.
I tried sapphire... Honestly, I like it!
It's a really cool bot! UI Is definitely a bit harder to navigate compared to other bots, but outside of that, everything being free to use is a HUGE plus that outweighs any negatives!

Is there a maximum to how many reaction roles can happen?? I’m confused because on MEE6 I thought I saw it say 25 but I saw it implemented in another sever and it had like 2000. I want to make sure I’m not capped on reaction roles with this bot. Thanks!
To my knowledge, there's no cap but I've never fully tested it so I'm not 100% sure
@@Gehsture Ah I just noticed that I can't link channels in the welcome message like MEE6 does. I was hoping to have a channel guide and the channel names would be clickable. I might have to go with MEE6 or carl bot.
The only problem I’ve had is rn I can only use my mobile browser aka Safari and it won’t let me edit stuff and the website is super annoying
for the join roles, when I select + to add a new roles, I do not have the drop down with all the colour selections
Make sure the "sapphire" role in the discord server is higher up on the role list than the roles you want it to be able to give! Then refresh the dashboard and they should show up

how do you add an image to the reaction role it wants a image link and i tried using imgur to get a image link and its not working? with mee6 you can just add an image without a link?
ah okay so i found out that posting the photo in a discord server or dm then copying the image link works. Any 3rd party link like imgur wont work
Yes this works! I've gotten imgur to work, but it's really weird how you have to do it. I didn't know you could do it through discord at the time of recording this tho, sorry!

The easiest way to embed images in sapphire is to send the image in a channel in your server, then if you click the image to enlarge it, you'll see an "open in browser" option. Click that, and then copy the browser link that it opens. Paste that as the URL in sapphire and it works every time!
I was using imgur, but it was super hit or miss whether it worked. This works every time!

What can i use to make a reminder with an @ for a certain person which repeats every hour, every day
you can do this with sapphire! Sapphire offers time based messages. When under the "Use" tab on the message you have created, you will see an option to schedule it. Just setup the day/time you want and you'll be good to go.
To @ mention the user, you will need to use the user's ID since you cant just do normal @ mentions through the message creator. See my newest video's "Role ID Tagging" section on how to do this if you aren't sure th-cam.com/video/Vr9KhvDTNzI/w-d-xo.html

So you have to get your actual TH-cam channel ID, not your custom URL that you setup after hitting 100 subscribers. I know it's somewhere in your TH-cam dashboard, probably under Customization, but you can use this site to quickly find it: commentpicker.com/youtube-channel-id.php

No, but Polaris bot has that, and can even give users roles depending on their level

Hang on; how do I set up a reaction roles channel? Sorry, man, I am brand new to all of this.
You just create a channel (for example, you can call it "roles"), and on the sapphire dashboard, you just go to "reaction roles" and you click create new message, then then add in the roles/emojis you want, and select the channel you want it sent in!

@@DarkandTwisted there's still tons of features that 3rd party bots offer that aren't in discord yet, like join roles, ticketing, polls, you name it there's a bit out there for it!
But if you are asking if you even need a bit for reaction roles specifically anymore, then no, onboarding is perfect for it (and arguably better because it's a forced popup when users join so they can't miss it like they can from it just being in a channel)

Really wish you went into the whole / command inside of the bot and went more into depth about setting up things Modding wise... I'm DESPERATE to get rid of MEE6 as is and if i can do everything i need to without paying for it i am game... or i'm just gonna have bite the bullet and just pay the lifetime fee at this point and keep MEE6 Q.Q been trying for two hours now to get commands to work and it is NOT cut and dry the way MEE6 was before locking everything behind a pay wall

The one in that video I linked above doesn't offer it, but some bots, like Lurkr, allow you to import your leaderboard from mee6 too
@@Gehsture I don't like any of them. I did like Gaius leveling, but the bot was simply too unstable. Too much down time.

It does not. There are birthday bots out there that you can use tho if there's a feature you want

Definitely recommend sapphire over mee6! You get everything for free with Sapphire, versus mee6 is very very limited with what you get without premium

Most bots don't offer everything in 1. Mee6 is the only one to really do that, but you don't get anything useful without paying for premium. Even auto moderation is a premium feature now since recording this with mee6.
Sapphire definitely doesn't have every feature in the book, but everything that it offers is free and almost unlimited in uses, which you don't really see in any other bot out there.
Mee6 still better it's just expensive
