- I take a large Bradford Pear bowl blank and turn it into 3 bowls. I use epoxy to fill in some large gaps in the blank. I use my Easy Core to core the smaller bowls from the large one.

Excellent job. The bowl came out beautiful.
Thank you Doug!
Beautiful bowl Mike.
Thank you Jack!
Upon further watching, the way you made these bowls. Is just exactly as on How its Made. Took wet cherry an would get many bowls. All the way down to a small 1. I was messing with dogs an the wood stove, an it just went over my head.
This wood was dry and I had to add the epoxy, but I am familiar with the How Its Made episode you refer to. Thanks for watching!
Ive got a Bradford pear to cut down soon. Looks like great wood. You made an incredible bowl outta fire wood lol.
Bradford Pear is one of my favorite woods to turn! It finishes like glass! You can also use the limbs for carving mallets among other things. Super hard wood! Thanks for watching!
That is incredible MIKE. Thanks for sharing. Keep the videos coming. Is that epoxy really hard to get off? Just curious. Hope you have an incredible weekend. Much love and RESPECT
Thanks Tim! Epoxy can be a big challenge!
Love the bowl, I'm new to turning and I'd like to know what kind of epoxy did you put on it and why sink it in sand. What did you add at the end... wax? How do you seal bowls so that they can be used and non-toxic? Thank you for any help you can offer.
Thanks Bob! I use a deep pour epoxy. The sand conforms to the bowl and helps force the epoxy into the cracks. I use General Finishes Bowl Finish. Then as a topcoat I add some finishing wax. Do some research. You will find almost all finishes are food safe after the cure. That is the key... cured not dry. This bowl, even though I used a "food safe" finish, is really more of a display piece.
Thanks for watching!
