    Great tutorial! Thanks!
    I watched the tutorial many times but still don't understand why frictionless constraint is applied to the hub. Shouldn't we apply pin or fixed constraint instead? I am confused.

    Does the right mouse button not bring up the edit load dialogue box in generative?

    New subscriber to your channel! Any chance to get finished .step or .igs file of this demonstration? Would be INSEIN to have it printed and just sitting on the desk at the office

    Great tutorial! I was able to come up with a bunch of variations. The only problem I'm facing now is exporting the tire haha. When I try to export STP a notifcation pops up saying "T Spline bodies must be converted to be included in exported document.Cancel and use convert command to included T-Spline bodies." I did this but it still won't let me export. Has anyone else had this problem?
    Thanks!

    This design works for a static model. Depending on the torque forces it will fail.

    What is the case with this Forces - Why you put opposite forces instead do nothing ?

    • @markz4467
      @markz4467 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Press the opposite sides of your head with you hands with equal forces. The forces will cancel eachother so the head will not move, but you will definitely feel the pressure applied on your head. You can do the same by pulling your ears, but instead of pressure you will feel tension.
      I hope this "illustrative" example helps! :)

    Classic example of mindlessly applied topology optimization. You've just added cost to the design, but given no significant improvements to strength... Properly applied TO can often improve strength and weight, but it relies on knowledge of proper boundary conditions and load cases, emphasis on the latter.

      Ben I've put together a video that demonstrates how GD can be applied to "real" manufacturing methods for this exact reason. I'm not a big fan of the organic slime looking shapes :)

    Even if you will find the way how to manufacture this wheel, it will failed in real life. Just because the weight of the car in all directions is not enough.

    • @Neil3D
      @Neil3D  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      justdidit I know, its just a beginners tutorial for GD

    • @innovationforge2851
      @innovationforge2851 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's worth noting that the manufacturing constraint of the version selected was die casting. This means that the resultant wheel could be made with the exact same tooling systems that are used for cast and rotary forged wheels today. Don't let organic-looking geometry fool you into thinking it has to be additive or investment only.
