Love the song Cuts You Up. ❤️ Great memories.
Thanks Rita, nothing like music to take us instantly back to a time and place!
Watching you listen to Marlene Dietrich's Favorite Poem was a treat -- it's one of my favorite tracks of all time, and a sound that I wish Peter Murphy had explored more. Glad you liked it! (This whole album is extraordinary, btw -- not a bad track on it.) Great reaction guys, as always.
Thanks James!!
Hey James, if I am right about what you wanted about Peter, you may enjoy Daniel (Ash's) Tones on Tail. Great, unique sound.
_You pour yourself over me like the Sun through the blinds_
I just love that line.
It is fantastic!
'Deep' is a one of a kind masterpiece; a perfect work of art from start to finish. Man, I still remember when that album came out when I was 26. By way, you fellas appear to be the only reaction on TH-cam (at this time) to have reacted to "Shy", which is a personal favourite.
Such good stuff! Appreciate your comment!
I have had the opportunity to introduce myself to Mr. Murphy and we immediately bonded.
He is anomalous and quite bondable if so inclined.
A brilliant underappreciated artist and I love him.
Hey Peter, we'll talk soon, don't have a phone right now.
Hope you see this, and could you give this channel a boost with a reply?
That is great John! Thanks!
He was and is a strong influence on my moral compass.🙂🤗
Thanks for watching John!
I particularly liked Marlene Dietrich's Favorite Poem. I definitely need to dive into Murphy's discography. I enjoyed the vid very much
Thanks Fran always appreciate you!
The alternative radio station I listen to in Chicago still plays this song a few times a month, usually on a Saturday evening, Reminds me of the days when I was a closet goth being corporate...
Great memories I am sure! Thanks for watching Kevin!
Really enjoying your reactions guys! You always manage to highlight the most interesting elements of a song's history and meaning. I'm glad Peter Murphy's voice and lyrics seem to be growing on you. It took me a while for Bauhaus/Tones on Tail/Love and Rockets/Peter Murphy to overtake The Cure and Depeche Mode as my favourites in high school, although they all display a great deal of range and creativity. Radiohead would join that list by their 3rd album.
Ahh fellow Radiohead fan! Yes growing big time, appreciate you introducing them to us!
I have his albums Love Hysteria and Deep, both good albums but would have to give the nod to Love Hysteria. I saw him on the Love Hysteria tour, with The Church opening. It was a great show but my biggest memory of the show is of him doing a great version of Purple Rain.
Purple Rain had to be great. We actually have a triple shot of The Church coming up as well. Thanks Kevin!
Listen to Dalis Car, a Band that just released one real album in 1984 and consisted of Peter on vocals and Mike Karn (ex-Japan) on the bass. It's darkwave at it's finest but with some middle eastern, ethereal influences and, of course, great bass lines! Key Tracks: Dalis Car, His Box, Cornwall Stone (basically the first three songs of the album). I like the Rumours-Cover on the Wall, it's one of the most beautiful and yet sexy album covers of all time. But to make an ark, the cover art of Dalis Car is great too! Hope you'll eventually like it.
We will check it out. Thanks Leonard!
I like your triple shot videos. The first song is mostly a dance track like you said. Even though the lyrics have meaning I was not into the music. The second song is a big contrast. I agree with you that the song is haunting. The music has a haunting melody and the lyrics have meaning in a reflective and introspective way. I like the lyrical poetry. Third song has a steady uptempo rhythm that moves along nicely. The music is good., a good sound telling a story like you said Shawn and Trey. You guys chose the exact order of songs I chose. Second song, third song, and first song. We are on the same page on this one.
Great minds think a like Poet! haha
@@ReactionsToTheClassics Lol Cool way to put it.
I agree with you all the way. Before tonight I'd never heard the first two tracks. The first I could do without, but the second is absolutely gorgeous and I'm so glad you have heard it!
@@ijustneedmyself Thank you for your comment. I agree with you. The second song is clearly the best of the three.
Great reaction! I love Bauhaus, but I have to say I think Peter’s solo work was far superior overall.
Thanks for watching David!
me too
True.
Don't get shy don't get caught with the world and it's thoughts 🎶 I'm not asking for worship or lazy sleazy thought 🎶 🎶 🎶 fyi Marlene Dietrich was a very glamorous Hollywood actress from the old days.
Thanks!
Personally, I like "Love Hysteria" better than "Deep". Its three singles are the history of the clubs in Valencia (Spain), in the '80s (one of the biggest club movements worldwide from the early '80s to the mid-'90s, the misnamed bakalao route ).
-"All Night Long" one of the most played and danced songs in clubs
-"Índigo Eyes" simply beautiful
- "Blind Sublime (Dance Remix)" without words.....
Apart it contains the song "Dragnet Drag" one of my favorites by Peter Murphy.....I highly recommend these 4 songs
Thanks for all the info and for watching!
cocteau twins please
One of Trey's faves!
