- This past weekend, I had the opportunity to see, chase, and tour the 1927 Steam engine that is AT&SF 4-8-4 #3751. In this video you will see the departure from Union Station in Los Angeles, a pace of the train down the I-10 freeway, a few roll-bys in El Monte and Upland, a few shots in San Bernardino (where it was displayed for the Railroad Days), and the return trip through Upland. This was my first time seeing the Loco in action, and I had a BLAST! I'd like to thank everyone who I met or hung out with this past weekend, and I hope you will enjoy my video!
Riding in your car on the interstate and this beast comes along beside you. Gives you a true feeling of being very very small.
i like how everybody gathers around to see a steam locomotive.
Who wouldn't?
One of the reasons I love railfanning. You don’t really meet many out in the wild, but when you do, you’re in your element
@@theidiotwithinternet what does that even mean

Steam locomotive are seen rarely this days
Give me great pleasure to see steam locomotives restored and back in operation. This is the most favorite video of trains that I have in my playlist. April 16 -17 are very special days for me. It’s great for me to watch this video taken on this special day.
And funny as I was watching this, on comes Manhattan Transfer singing 'Met a gal in calico, down in Santa Fe'. What a magnificent piece of work this is. 3751 Just mindblowing.
I use to love and watch trains go by everyday when I was a kid!, and these locomotives are the best around!
Wonderful video! Yes, the Santa Fe 3751 is one of my favourite Steam Locomotive.
Greetings my friend 👋 and LIKE 👍 from Spain. 🇪🇸
Muchas gracias por compartir tan bellas imágenes. Desde España, saludos,
9:36 That whistle blast killed everyone's microphones! You, me, Steven, Brett, etc etc. Good times, good times.
13:01 Best shot ever! The smoke was crazy!
Awesome chase and pace Jeffrey!
AmtrakSurfliner768 Thanks to Bob Kittel (CMO). He was putting a show on her.
Big train go brrrrrrrrrr
Santa Fe berdoo
Nicely done video! One thing I never saw before until I saw your video...I never knew there were train track down the middle of an interstate highway between the sets of lanes! The perfect chase setup!
My first love is English steam, but Im becoming transfixed by the might of American steam. This shows just how big an American pacific is compared to so called big British locos. Some of my favourite locos are the Pennsylvania K4s and the Bigboys. How great it would be to see a Bigboy running but my understanding is none are in working order. 3751 is mighty and beautiful
Good news 7 years later, there’s a big boy up and running again!
Lol, union pacific 4014: say no more
Seeing the world's biggest Northern going down the freeway: priceless. Also wild and crazy. Glad the various railfan drivers could jockey for position without a pileup. And no road rage shootings that day to boot! (Funny how that SP car keeps changing colors all chameleon-like. Oh that's right: different trips on different days! Shazam!)
I have some great memories of these old steamers, i use to be a firemen on them. I sure miss them.
one time i shared the link to this video with a friend who lived in austrailia via skype, and all he could say is wow, its cool that you could pace it on a freeway.
Jeffrey... I was honored to be your driver and accompany you in appreciating this living piece of American history on its journey. Glad you got to see it in such great condition in its 84th year of gracing the rails. We'll catch it again down the line, my friend. Nice video work all around.
I just keep coming back again and again to watch this vidio, I just love this vidio, thank you so much for posting this!:)
Thanks for a well edited movie. Sure beats some of the other videos I have seen on 3751
Now to get rid of those obnoxious level crossing which plague USA main lines. Concrete sleepers would also get this mainline operating at world standards.
Great video!
Santa Fe 3751 is a beauty. She's a study old gal! :))
Thank you for sharing your film with us on YT. :))
Kickass footage of 3751 jeffrey, wish i could have joined you guys! 5 stars man! :)
the engineer knows this train. its highballing with no black smoke. he has his settings correct . 14.4 stoichiometric.
Nice video, for which a big thank you!
Best TH-cam Video In The Universe
Nothing is more beautiful (besides a woman) or more glamorous than watching a steam engin roaring down the track. Great job in videoing it.
Loved the part when you chased it along the I-10. Thumbs up!
Superb coverage!!! Well done!!!
You must've been lucky seeing this great train. Very excellent catch.
Great variety of shots, Great Video!
Good old Baldwin Engineering built right in Philly near my area!
Thunderbolt 1000 Siren Productions Me too!

What a great video&Great engine.
I always loved that engine
I Love It a Lot
Love Santa Fé 3751 ❤️💜🧡💛💚💙🖤💖💟
:D
I can't help it. I just can't help it - I LOVE trains! I think I inherited this trait...
man, you sure do know how to shoot a video!
nice work, and keep rail fanning!
It is for people who own private rail cars. Not everyone can have the same kind of rail car, so they are always a nice mix.
Great video of Santa Fe 3751
A beautiful Locomotive indeed
Santa Fe 3751 was built in 1927 By The Baldwin Locomotives Works in Eddystone, Pennsylvania for AT&SF.
Das beste Video toll gemacht weiterhin good Lucky Train super 🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇
That is the coolest thing with the tracks in the median of the interstate! High speed street running!
I just love it.
Delighted Thanks 🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
They do not make them like this anymore
Badass video !! Great job.
American Steam Locomotives will Always be Number One On Every List. :-D
Santa Fe 3751 is a cool locomotive
Najlepszy film 3571 jaki widzialem, bardzo blisko fajne , powodzenia pozdrowienia from Reykjavik

Words can not describe how big and beautiful this train is!
Everything about it is just beautiful-the whistle; the rods; the engine. It’s one of God’s mightiest machines!
Очень красивый состав, в час добрый! С Уважением!
Masterful
I love the STEAM and smoke-- what the hell good is it to have a "steam engine" running on heating oil that DOESN"T SMOKE... tht's the whole freakin purpose.. I LIKE this one- at least you can TELL it's a steamer.
Amazing!!!
Awesome video. I bet the guy in the cab of the Metrolink F59PHI had a great view.
thanx for the answer. for a moment i thought it meant amtrak.
but i knew i was wrong. thanx again.
love this!
To much zooming. A little zooming occasionally is alright but it look's so much more natural when you let the train come to you. Still an awesome catch.
ПАРОВОЗ красавец, гудок- как рёв льва, здорово! С Уважением к экипажу, Россиянка!
ATSF 3751 está soando o ATSF 6 chime whistle igual a voz do meu primo Guilherme
Though its a 4-8-4 and not a 2-8-4, by just looking at the locomotive alone from my point of view, it looks a little like the Polar Express location
absolutely beautiful
I Love This Steam Engine 3751.
thanks for the reply.
3751 HAS to return soon. This was the only locomotive operational in this area. There was nothing I could deal with but Metrolink trains.
Got any plans September 9 and 10?
absolutely amazing,i just love american steam.
Love the pacing. Very high quality while you are alongside.
That train can go fast = great film
Nice to see such a beautiful locomotive still in service.
Superb video
Does the diesel help pull the train or is it just there to run the electrics and brakes and accessories and what-not?
Being a hotel generator and dynamic brake support and why would a people really clueless enough to think that it also help the steam?
Wao super video collection bro
Great fun. Where did you shoot at in El Monte? I need to ride a real train instead of the freakin NJ Transit.
What freeway is that?
i remember this loco from "there goes a train" :3
I really wish 3751 could come to Trainfestival.
ATSF 3751 at el monte and upland ca
Beautiful
Five and a Half Rating Stars for Very Very Fantastic
Awesome Vidio, Great work!
Yes correct. Air conditioning, electrical power for outlets and lighting as well.
Great to see. Why the diesel ? Is it supplying electricity to the cars?
Grumpy
what a beast!
SoCal Code 3 That's what she said!!!
SoCal Code 3 USA
ya nice chase and catches of 3751
Classic
ATSF 3751 2011
SURPRISINGLY APPROPRIATE!!!!! :-D
@spacemaster911
A lady in a green shirt almost got killed in Upland. It scares my to see this stupidness as it only takes on hit to end excursions like this.
@kearthfan101
I'm sure I've said this once, but I'll say it again, great video! 6,000 views in such a short amount of time is amazing. Hopefully our paths will cross next time 3751 runs!
I Am Never Pressing The Dislike Button Forever
does amtrak still use the ocean view cars
Nate gardner as atsf 6 chime whistle
Is that another one of your so-called “OC’s?” I mean where do you come up with this stuff?
ATSF 3751 blows it's 6 chime whistle
No crap Sherlock.
So 1966 GTO must think our best days are behind us and that we don't have the capacity or knowledge to still do great things? Must be great to live your life in the past and never have to worry about the future, lmao.
That being said, I love steam locomotives and wish they'd make a comeback...with modern technology they could make one that required much less maintenance and I'm sure the added fuel savings would make them competitive against diesel.
The reason diesel locomotives took over has less to do with the environment and much more to do with cost. It's very labor intensive to run and maintain a steam locomotive. Look at that thing, it's beautiful but it has more moving parts than a silo full of swiss watches.
ATSF 3751 going to san Bernardino
Un-friggin-believeable !! Great vid!!!!!
Why does santa fe 3751 always use mixed train.
9:32
Was Metrolink 877 there for dynamic breaking?
There must have been quite a lot of confused commuters on the I-10
That Santa Fe train is faster than clumbers and Toltec!
