I got the dcd 998 for 2 years now it is a beast of a drill and my favorite so far but I am interested in the dcd1007 gonna review all the tests on it would love to see it go head to head with the 998 and 999 then I can make a solid decision 👍
I've had the speed selector stick on a 2 speed drill, too. It happened to me with the Flex. Once I squeezed the trigger, I was able to move the selector.
Its the gear selector ring is out of line for 1st gear. The ring keeps a planetary ring for the gear from spinning freely so that you get torque from that selected gear. 1st gear just happened to not line up with the gear ring at the time. It's a 3 speed thing.
@ If you read my comment, you will see that I said it also happened to me with a Flex. Flex has a 2 speed gearbox, so I’m assuming that it can happen with any drill.
@DiligentDave1966 It's not as common for the 2 speed from my experience. I haven't owned the Flex brand. May have a different gear setup. I use to repair tools, I honestly wasn't trying to argue
@ I wasn’t arguing either. I was actually a little surprised when the Flex did that. I’ve heard that the 3 speed drills have a tendency to do it, but I didn’t realize that a 2 speed drill could also do that. IDK what causes it, but a quick squeeze of the trigger fixed the issue for me.
The speed selecter getting stuck is normal on three speed dewalt drills i have a nearly 10 year old dcd995 (yes 995 not a 996 everyone seems to forget the 995 exists) and its always done that.
@kalebross im in the market for a new impact driver and hammer drill combo. Im on both milwaukee and dewalt platforms. If you had to buy a set today would you go dewalt 860 & 1007 or milwaukee gen4 combo? Thank u in advance for your opinion
@@247Combat the dewalts are great but you can get the gen 4 combo cheaper and get all the work you need done usually without any issues. I use the gen 4 combo everyday at work and they’ve been holding up. If you really want the new dewalt power though, the choice is Dewalt.

Does anyone know if it's normal for this drill to rattle when shook. Might sound silly, but with or without the battery if the drill is shook up or down left or right there's a rattle coming from the base, near top back end of the drill? Brand new, used once this week!

@man0grc, the 1007 has superior torque compared to the 996 or 999. It also has anti-kickback, which is a first for Dewalt. I've also heard that the 1007 has a phenomenal clutch, which is crucial if you're using it as a driver.
The DCD1007 can't beat the Milwaukee Gen M18 Drill/Hammer Driver in a torque test. In fact, the DCD999 is better than the 1007 in some areas. Google for test results.
@@Kaleb_RoSs I'm going off of th-cam.com/video/hWN71iK2Ng8/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared&t=242 In terms of raw torque the gen 4 comes in at 46 pounds of force compared to the 1007's 42 pounds of force.
