Was the floorplate tightness from interference with the magazine box, or from the trigger guard fore/aft position? There’s a bit of wiggle room to adjust the latch. Tighten the angled recoil lug screw first, then the aft trigger guard screw, adjusting position to fit, then the middle screw. Ruger specifies up to 90 inch/pounds on the recoil screw - that may differ on other stocks.
Hi Monsieur Chapin. It's the mag box. I replaced the front screw was replaced with a Ruger hex screw to properly get to 90lbs. It was set there. Then the back to 40-45lbs and center hand tight as mentioned many places. The mag box in both stocks was so jammed up that there was bending the center of the wood stock. So I shaved down 2mms both front and back and that made the wood stock clear. However, the new Hogue required another 1mm relief on both ends of the box to free float it. It has a slightly different dimension than the wood one. Again 65-45- handtight in sequence on the new Hogue. I'll adjust that front one once I see it at the range. Most folks found 65lbs about right on hogues from what I researched. But I'll have my wrench with me to tighten as required. On this rifle there was no adjustment room at all for the trigger guard. It's a 1992 I suspect they evolved that trigger guard spacing slightly on later ones as my 1997's I had did have that extra room. This one had none...
