    Thank you, Pavlin, for this informative video. I always prefer to purchase softer, grippier tires that may not last as long as the harder compound ones. My personal safety is worth replacing my tires more often. P.S. Shinkos have been very good to me, for that reason.

    I had TKC70’s on my KTM 1190 Adv. loved them 1400km Verry goog compromise....A agree with you 100%

    I had TKC70's on my 1190 Adventure S and they lasted 3000 miles (about 5000 km). They are an awesome road tyre but so is the trail attack 2 (5000+ miles). The TKC70 has a butch look but for me, they are pointless. Either buy trail attack or TKC80 (Other brands are available).
    I use Michelin Road 5 for road, Mitas 07 / 07+ for dual sport and Golden Tyre / Maxxis Enduro Pro for off road riding and rate them all very highly, respectively.

    Thanks for this Pavlin, really informative as I have just bought a set of TKC 70`s for my next trip coming up soon. I haven`t fitted them as yet as I mainly commute on the tarmac at the moment so still using Anakee 3 tyres which I have done over 9000 Km on. They are great for tarmac and they still have around 2000 km of ware on them. On my trip as usual I plan to be off road around 30% to 35% of the time so I am a bit worried now about my choice of Tyre for this trip. I looked at the Mitas tyres but I thought they wouldn`t be too good on the tarmac so I didn`t choose them. I always seem to have trouble when it comes to choosing the right tyres despite gathering allot of information about where I am going and the road conditions, mainly from the internet . Anyway I will have to see how the trip goes and if I feel that the TCK 70`s are not doing the job I will change them whether they are finished or not. It`s just the extra expense that bothers me. Thanks again for this review.

    Hi pavlin, i Have de tck70 sin a bit on my transalp, i agree whith what you say, but is manadatory to consider that is not a tyre for an offroad travel,don't work vero well on gravel and in rocky roads,but with a little bit of malice this tyre can bring you everywhere at exeption of mud and sand, i tried it in é era condition, dry road,wet road, very wet road, fine gravel,medium gravel,rocky roads, ECC ECC The only place when i was blocked ora i risked to fall down was with mud,but ubsolutely for a long term trip for me si ok, at The same level of The dunlop trailsmart, if The program is not hard offroad and if The rider si not a novice

    Running 2nd set of TKC 70 on Honda Dominator 650. They do it all! Hammering corners like on a motard? Sure! Having some fun on MX tracks? Why not! Handling 5000km trips in all road conditions? No problem! Riding some gnarly enduro stuff? If you got the balls! I mean they are great for my style of riding as in hard terrain I like to rely mostly on "trial" techniques than on tires. Front tire is far more capable offroad than rear. Rear does not have much traction due to middle thread. And both are useless in mud. On the road they have great grip in wet and/or cold. On 0°C wet Transfăgărășan roads these things just won't slide in any lean angle (silica compound). And trust me I tried to hammer the throttle every time when leaving a corner leaned. I don't need a car yet, so for me they are true 4 season tires as long as the road is cleaned from snow... That's my 0.02€ to the discussion.

      I cut my rear laterally to break up that centre strip. 25-50% improvement off road (very subjective non scientific analysis of course)

    Well, you are right, these are fine. Mostly for on-road use. They are on both of our XTs. Living in Germany, we seldom get the chance for even gravel (admittedly, we sometimes ride om gravel - there are still some roads which conmect villages here). For us, they are fine. Very economical (which is important to us). Like the XTs, they are good at many things, but far from perfect.

    I had those on a Triumph Tiger 800XC. They were more expensive than any other on off tyre. I was amazed by their on road handling, the cornering was even better than road tyres as their cross section is more circular and fast than others. Off road they helped me a lot! Their durability was a surprise! 17000 km and I could still make 2000 more. BUT... forget speeds higher than 140-150km. The front tyre makes the front end oscillate like hell up to a point you think you ll fly... I mean it is not just scary it is dangerous. I bought some road tyres Bridgestone after that but I seriously think of going back to the tkc although the speed limit is a deal breaker...

      I've been riding tkc 70 on KTM 1090 upto 220km/h without any wobbling etc. Mb your alloy/spoked wheel wasn't well balanced...

    My next tyre on my KLR will probably be a Shinko 705 after the Tourance wears out.

    Have you tried the Pirelli MT90 AT tires? or any type of Pirelli ADV tires on your own personal bike/motorcycle? I'm possibly looking at purchasing a pair of the MT90 AT's next year!

    I roll a TKC80 up front and a TKC70 in back. Great combo for road and logging road split.

    These seem very durable but I think I'm ok with changing tires more often for more traction. Tires are not that expensive for what they provide. I go with something fairly knobby for around here to manage the gravel logging roads. This seems more like a commuter tire to me.

    I just ordered a rear TKC70 for my XT660ZA. Currently running Heidenau K60 silica, extremely soft tires good for cold wet surface, but wears out fast on tarmac. Im gonna keep the from tire, as they only have about 4K, but the rear starts to square off badly. I do a lot of gravel roads, but grave roads here in Norway are so compacted in the groves its no problem to ride them with street tires...but in the midle and on the sides its loose surface... it all comes dovn to the riders skills...

    I recommend tkc80 front with a motoz adventure on the rear. It works very well on my ktm1190R both on and off road and even two up. Sorry I missed you in NZ Pavelin hope to maybe catch up somewhere else in the world.

    First outing on mine (KTM950 Adv, TKC70 front, Rocks on the back) was Winter on UK roads (lowest temp 3 C) they were fine. Everyday use around here is on dirty broken tarmac, and they are pretty much flawless. West or dry..

      I ordered the same combo TKC70/TKC70 Rocks for CB500X (19" and 17" rear). I have Michelin anakee adventure currently, they were amazing on the road, and offroad so so... very durable too, now at 14K km and they still hold ok, but much less road and grip feedback now, so I think it is time to change.
      Looking forward to see how TKC combo compares, especially offroad.

    Do you think the Metzeler Karoo Street would be a little bit better off road with similar characteristics on the road and durability of TKC70?

      I have Karoo streets on a KTM 950. They handle like Bambi on ice. Cannot wait to get rid of them.

    Hi my friend, I am a relatively new subscriber and appreciate your videos. Just wondering... sometimes I see you on a Yamaha then sometimes on something else...is this because you travel afar and rent a machine when too far from home?

      Yes, Pavlin's actual bike in Berlin is a Yamaha Tenere 660, I think.

    I have done on them 16,500km (on VStrom 100). Front tyre is extremely noisy now. Whistling noise in speeds 70 to 85km/h is terrible. In terms of durability - I can probably do 2000km more. Wet bitumen roads handling is superb, same on dry. Off road is OK. I wonder how compare the Michelin Anakee Adventure - any comments? Cheers.

      Did you buy Anakee Adventure to compare? I am doing opposite, going from Michelin AA to TKC70/TKC70 rocks, so I will compare them in few weeks. AA were pretty good, a bit noisy but does not bother me, on road wet/dry they are perfect, offroad so so, usable. And longetivity is amazing on Micheling 14K km and still ok grip, but now much less road/grip feedback and confidence, so it is time to change. They served me well for the past year.

    don't TKC70 have soft compound in middle, excellent grip in all conditions, and harder compound in corners? Got confused now in this vs other reviews, they are actuallly advertised as excellent grip tyres that wear bit faster due to softer compound... excellent for road in all conditions, and only minor offroad as they are not knobby... considering them for next pair...

    I had a set rode 2 up on a 100 degree day that ended those tires they wore out when we stopped after 20 miles they looked like a pencil eraser I wiped the tires away bald at 3000 miles

    As someone new to adventure motorcycles, the on/off road and brand options make selecting tyres more difficult than, say for a car. With trucks and cars, I just go with Michelin. I fully admit admit not knowing what my next motorcycle tyre brand and type will be. Thanks Pavlin, time to say goodbye to the great Aussies and come back to civilisation as we know it (just joking)!

    I had this tyre on a 660 R- on the road in Sicily 2up rainy weather -> the rear washed out.
    Having an unbroken centre line is not a good idea, continental should know better.

    Very nice video! I bought my bike with these tires a year ago, already put 4000km into them and the front is significantly more worn that the back.
    I don’t see any wear indicators on these tires. How do you know when they need to be replaced?

    I've never understood tyres like this. In the dirt they perform like pure road tyres and on the road they perform like pure dirt tyres.
    I like to ride a pure road tyre like Michelin Pilot Road 4 (now called Road 5) on road and gravel road. On single track, mud and sand I like to ride pure off road knobbies like Goldentyre.

      Yep, road tyres on gravel roads are fine. Adjust your speed to suit.
      I have used Metzeler Tourance for longer than I can remember (touted as a 90/10 tyre), and even it slightly sings on smooth roads.
      I'm next going to try a set of Shinko 712 for the incredible value and Pilot Road after that if not satisfied with the grip/durability of the Shinko's.
