- Original Title: Easter Egg discovered after 15 years in Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters
EDIT: Since people seem to need clarification; the "undiscovered" reference part is the helpdesk message and NOT the method of collecting the titanium bolt which is commonly known. Also yes, there has been an instance of someone documenting it beforehand but since they typo'd their documenting didn't appear when searching for if anyone else had found it.
With how old Ratchet and Clank Size Matters is, it would be assumed that everything about the game would have been uncovered years ago, however even after 15 years it seems possible that the game still has more to hide.
This video was created and uploaded before FunWithGuru and Oddheader made segments on this exact easter egg with similar formatting.

1:33 This is false. This hint was mentioned online as early as August 19, 2009 (at the latest). It was in the written GameFAQs guide for the Titanium Bolts by user "Ratchet12345", who, in turn, was sharing a tip given to him by another user, "Differus", in section "8.5: Dreamtime".
The tip by Differus reads:
"In Dreamtime, the last Bolt you find, you tell the reader to "Shoot at it with your Lacerators until you see a flash". However, upon seeing my targeting reticle turn red while a giant blue crab floated in front of the bolt, the game told me to *"Shoot its weak point for massive damage"* (lol), so, I shot at the crab with one shot, and the pathway appeared. So basically, all you have to do is to shoot the giant blue crab that will appear in front of the bolt every few seconds."
He got the first word wrong but the point is the same. This is the earliest example I could find of the hint being mentioned online, and the accompanying "lol" implies that it was even understood as an easter egg, though it wasn't explicitly specified as such. Regardless, I think that, in the context of this video, this Differus lad (or lass) deserves some acknowledgment.

I could swear I saw the giant enemy crab on the Pokitaru revisit as a kid but I assumed it was just a glitch.
Me too, the only time it happened to me I was looking towards the vendor on the left and when I flipped the camera the giant crab made me jumpscare

This is actually insane, I would always notice that giant crab popup when revisiting Pokitaru for the Mootator skill point and always thought it was a bug that caused it to spawn. Now this makes too much sense. Awesome work!

Wow. I’ve beaten this game dozens of times and never realized this. You can shoot the other floating characters in Dreamtime and they’ll simply vanish. The thought that anything but the portal would be the trigger never crossed my mind. Excellent video. Subscribed!

Oh yeah, the small lightning robots that had speakers for mouths. I've always found that strange when I was a kid as there's no way to hit any specific parts on an enemy. Never knew it was a reference...
I saw the "attack it's weak point for massive damage" text on my second playthrough (first on PS2) but I didn't know the crab wasn't just scenery and I didn't know about the bolt. I remember being confused because there were no enemies nearby.
Side note: having played both versions, I don't understand why people have a problem with the PS2 version. It feels exactly the same to play to me, except the controls match the home console games and the graphics are marginally improved. Though I did play in progressive widescreen, perhaps if you didn't play in progressive mode it might feel a bit sluggish thanks to the halved framerate.
The thumbnail looks familiar: when I was listening one of The Prodigy musics, there's an image of a crab with opened claws as if it's going to attack whenever approaches.
This is a reference from The Prodigy.
Anyway, I heard the word "Giant Enemy Crab" in the *Bunnymustard's longest YTP ever,* since I'm a teen...

I've been replaying this game with my niece and nephew recently to share some of my gaming memories with them. And I forgot how good this game is for a psp. I love the armor parts along with the secret armor combinations that unlock special wrench powers. Like the fire bomb combo. That and the weopon mods are a nice touch but my all time favorite weapon mod system is hands down Ratchet Deadlocked. Like napalm and ice mods. But I also love the raritanium upgrade trees for mini mods. Something I wish they would do, is take all of those best parts, but add one major mod, a RYNO mod for every single weapon in the game along with omega versions on the 2nd playthrough and levels of course. Levels are tje bread and butter. Then we could really unleash an arsenal of pure mayhem!

I got into this hidden area last month when I was playing the game but couldn't get there again, so I assumed it was a glitch and I had been teleported to a sort of "test area" of sorts. My God, I'm freaking out, this is so cool and I'm in disbelief that I found it by mistake omfg
The treehouse? You need to be at the teleporter on... Clanks level? At 3am. Or set your device to 3am, then you can teleport there, and see some cut content and whatnot.
Of all the things I was expecting, a reference to E3 2006 certainly wasn't one. Regardless, pretty cool
I remember being so fascinated with that giant crab on pokitaru that i made a comic book about it as a child, haha. Ratchet tried to fight the giant crab but his weapons werent strong enough so he used the suck cannon to suck it up like you can in the game. But when he shot it away the force threw him back and he landed on his "morph o ray" gadget which turned him into an evil robot (i hadnt yet played the original, so this was an original gadget i just made up that would transform his body into different creatures. Like the hologuise but permanent.) Then clank had to push robo ratchet into the water to short circuit him then change him back into a lombax.
I revisited the Dream and any other level a lot as a kid, I literally discovered all of that without knowing it was that hidden or something lol
This game was my favorite, but never unlock all the ability points

It’s 2022 and there’s a video explaining never heard of easter eggs in a 14 year old game. This is amazing, and even moreso that it’s Size Matters. No doubt my favorite Ratchet that I play till this very day because of it’s gorgeous soundtrack and portability. Thank you for this video!

if you equip the shield level max it will trigger the bolt too, and actually you could just shoot the bolt with any weapon, doesn't need to be the portal

As a kid I loved fighting the Giant Crab on Pokitaru with nothing but a wrench whenever I started another NG+ (after 3 or more cycles even the One-Shot enemies can tank tons of hits from the wrench)

Today Size Matters was released for PS4/PS5.
Weird i always got the bolt by hitting the portal sideways while walking towards it and it teleported me to it. I thought this method was normal so i used it every time, also the giant crab on pokitaru spawned sometimes for me but i newer knew on what circumstances.
omg I actually found out about this back then but i did NOT realize you have to shoot the crab lol. I was sooo confused. I just shot around until i got teleported. Never got the bolt and also didnt know you have to restart the level. So i was really clueless. Im so happy rn that i finally got an answer to that lmao. I also remember that giant grab on the beach. Thought it just spawns randomly with a super low chance.
On top of that iirl the dream level is only playable once right? You cant go back after finishing it meaning you have to restart the ENTIRE game....man
You can actually replay Dreamtime whenever you want. Just return to the medical station wreckage and walk over to the operating table, you will then get a prompt to play the level.

Im still trying to understand why there are so many empty slots on Secret Agent Clank. On this game it was about secret armor combo, but on that game? Never found the answer.

The lack of discussion about this game is unfortunate
For example I want to know more about it and whether the difficulty increases again in the 2nd challenge mode (3rd playthrough overall) since there's new armor unlike most R&C games

It didnt take 15 years to be found. There is a 16 yo vid on yt called "Ratchet and Clank Size Matters:Titanium Bolt Locations Pt. 1" by Zellhazard who shows this method of getting to the bolt. He aims at the bolt and not the crab but people in the comments have mentioned that its the crab that needs to be shot. 16 years ago means as early as 2008 or 2007 it was already known.
Almost like the video is about an easter egg related to the titanium bolt and not how to get the titanium bolt itself.
As if Dreamtime couldn't get any crazier, amazing. I should've figured this was the thing that triggered the giant crab spawn in Pokitaru. Oddly enough, I think I remember seeing the message but not thinking much of it?

Maybe I remember incorrectly, many years have passed since I played this game, but something baffled me for ages while playing this level. The mirrors in this level displayed all the weapons in a different way, something like a more upgraded version than the NG+ even. I remember seeing the Lazerators not with two barrels but with four each. And other guns further improved. I always thought that there might be a way to further upgrade the weapons. Can anyone confirm that my 10 yo self wasn't tripping?

I didn’t spend a long time playing this game. This is the worst ratchet and clank game in the entire series. Worse than All for one.
If only it was made by insomniac, they wouldve made it 3x better, but its my childhood game and i cant complain, its perfect the way it is
People seems to forget that it was released originally on a portable device. Having Ratchet on the car for example is something incredible if you ask me.
