We recommend a low-tack adhesive of some kind, such as painters tape. This will allow for masking off the areas needed without jeopardizing the coating beneath it.
Could you folks explain how to apply multiple layers of C Series? Each time I've attempted it, I've had adhesion issues. You need it dry enough to apply stencils, which in turn seems to be too dry for the next coat to adhere to.
Absolutely, we created a video about this specific topic "Stenciling with C-Series Cerakote". Let us know if you have additional questions. th-cam.com/video/ZlvC0XsnivY/w-d-xo.html
I'm curious on why you don't wash / degrease with a wax or grease remover after blasting? Parts are rather filthy after blasting and just blowing parts off with compressed air is not sufficient enough to remove all dust particsls from blasting. Also, is there a reason for not tacking parts to remove any other dust particles? I come from the automotive paint industry, so your prep process all seems a little backwards to me. Could you please explain? Thank you. @cerakote please respond, thanks.
Agree. Depending on how dirty they were going in I wash and dry parts and spray them immediately after blasting. Have not had a coating fail yet doing that.
Our media cabinets are used only for items that have followed this preparation SOP. This allows us to maintain a clean blasting environment that does not require a post-cleaning process. If you are concerned about the surface after blasting, you can certainly rinse or submerge in clean acetone and blow dry. That will not affect the coatings adhesion as long as a film is not left behind. A tack cloth may certainly be used but is not generally necessary to achieve a debris-free finish. We have used tack cloths before on large flat surfaces to ensure the surface is free of debris without issue.
Is a special masking tape required? I would assume no since it is air dry?

Great content! Do you have fda safe products for those temperature heating?
Cerakote has not been FDA tested, so we cannot recommend use on items that come in contact with food.
@Cerakote it would be nice to have such product for open fire grills. There are no such products on the market. Best wishes from Ukraine.
