Great guide! As an avid Tuvasa player, I only have one point to make: while the alternative wincons you pointed out are definitely bad, other winconditions revolving around cards like Enchanted Evening or Omniscience are very potent and allow you to run far more removal and ramp because you will need far less voltron pieces. The only absolute necessities as far as voltron stuff goes are the ones that give you evasion. After all, reaching 7 or even 11 power is not something Tuvasa struggles with at all
Since you talk about the deck budget, I’d love to see a short end card or discussion of the price change. Something like The Commanders Quarters does, where they relate the average deck to the new deck. Many players watch these types of upgrade lists as they want to be more powerful on a budget, and showing the difference would go a long way. Love the content keep it up!
Yep I’ve blown up my own Enchantments before to keep the engine going. They can also protect you from Creature Boardwipes by destroying your own Opalescence/Starfield of Nyx.
cutting Kestia was right for this deck, although I'm glad you didn't dismiss as a commander. I've had a good deal of success with my Bant bogles deck with her at the helm.
Love this look at Tuvasa, as well as enchantress strategies in general! I'm personally more of an Esper player than a Bant player (Alela is my preferred mode of enchantment smackdowns), but it's warming me up to green for enchantment strategies as well as in general! Also Kenrith's Transformation is an amazing card yall seriously should run it.
Thanks for the video, some nice ideas for my own voltron deck. My Tuvasa is pure enchantress which is far more powerful imo. I have multiple game winning combos but the two main ones are: Enchanted Evening and Calming Verse... in conjunction with: Decree of Silence and Solemnity. Blow up EVERYTHING else on the board including lands (as they are enchantments too)...and even when your oppos try and and play spells they can't ever again cos of Decree of Silence (and Solemnity preventing any counters being put on it) So, my main wincon is actually everyone scooping 😁 My voltron commander is my beloved (as I was lucky enough to source the Ultimate Masters Boxtopper version) Sigarda, Host of Herons. She flaps, negates the biggest weakness of voltron by preventing me having to sac her and she has Hexproof. She is awesome.
Hello, big fan and new commander player here. I've picked up the Breya precon and have been steadily upgrading it over the last few months. An upping the average on her would be awesome! There seems to be a shortage on deep dives on building her without massively inflating her price and as she's my first deck I'm hesitant to pour tons and tons of money into it. Love hearing your takes and would greatly enjoy an episode on invent superiority. cheers :)
My Tuvasa (now Amareth, the Lustrous) deck is literally built around this combo. Wins me so many games, as I also use the following combo to make sure that there is no way back once I've blown everything up: Decree of Silence and Solemnity.
new to commander so sorry if dumb question - can you just manually tap all your lands (as in, have the mana floating) and cast Calming Verse so your own enchantments dont get nuked? Or do you have to actually spend the mana generated by the lands, leave yourself with 4 lands and cast?
Just added Teferi’s Ageless Insight today to the deck. Also with all the cards you draw with the deck you realize how easy it is to deck yourself out so I like to add Thassa’s Oracle as a back up win con.
Yeah a "Merfolk" commander kind of. I am a very Merfolk commander guy and I have my own Kumena commander deck that can fight. I like the changes that you made here in the Tuvasa deck. I don't like enchantments becucase they are so easily removed or because Auras get removed when the creature dies. But you have have persuaded my decision. I will have to build like deck to give it a try. Hope you have a good day. And I love podcast by the way.
Was actually just looking at Tuvasa for a Bant Stax deck that let me use a fun(for me) combination of cards that will end the game, even if it doesn't do damage. However, I went with Golos in the end, so I could splash red and black cards in.
Wow! Some great stuff for Tuvasa. I would love to see one of these for Kestia, the Cultivator as well, since the commander would pull towards a pretty different enchantments strategy.
Just a couple of thoughts. One, Rancor seems like a wonderful addition to the deck, in pumping power by quite a bit, offering a semi-evasive ability for a single mana, and is highly resistant to removal. Second, Faith's Reward seems like a good way to recover from a board wipe, though keeping up the 4 mana just to recover seems excessive, so where are things like Heroic Intervention? A lot of enchantments seem like prime removal targets, so this should help them, especially since it just got reprinted, and you removed Sterling Grove.
Touvasa is that hand woven basket using only locally sourced and natural fibers at you local market. Would love to see a Kethis or Karidor tech in the future.
Destiny Spinner is such a beastly card! A 2/3 for 2 that makes all your important spells uncounterable while also being a wincon in the late game when you have lots of mana and 5 + enchantments on board? Sign me up. This card is one of the best from TBD, and I's quite baffling that it is only an uncommon.
I run a mono blue enchantments/aura's deck with Hakim loreweaver at the helm... Uses a lot of pretty odd enchantments but there's a creature that helps a lot: Rootwater shaman let's you play auras at instant speed if you don't want to run leyline. Also arcanum wings is amazing to swap out auras.
Call me crazy, but I would really not run Sol Ring in this deck. Green is great for ramp and I would add another land enchantment like Unbridled Growth or Gift of Paradise instead. Other than that little nit pick, I love the deck list!
David Wesson sol ring is still too good to not run. Gift of paradise is 3 mana and only ramps by 1. I’m not trading sol ring for 3 mana ramp in any deck.
not a fan of voltron. but I do enjoy running tuvasa as simply a bant enchantress commander. being able to get through my deck with all the draw effects and the enchantment clones makes the deck super deadly
my pet commanders are karlov of the ghost council, Inalla archmage ritualist and Angus Mckenzie. I assume they're pretty niche but i might as well mention them here in case you get more recommendations for them ^_^
I think I said it last time but Imma say it again, give us Volrath the Shapestealer please! I legit need help focusing a build for him on a single idea....
A couple suggestions First, Righteous Authority is a little expensive at 5 CMC, but that is really its only weakness. The card draw isn't great but will continue to work even when your engine has stalled. More importantly, if your engine is working there should be plenty of times you are sitting there with 10+ cards in hand. Second, this is a permanent heavy deck with a lot of good cards at or below 3 CMC. This is the time to consider running Sun Titan. At the very least the Titan should be right next to Leyline on the list of potential upgrades.
I think the only thing you missed is replacing Krosan Verge with Rogue's Passage. I've lost count of the number of times I've played Finest Hour, copied it, made Tuvasa unblockable and killed all three opponents in one turn
I run an Estrid deck and I run Ominous Seas in it. I use it when someone board wipes the field as a response to automatically apply pressure. I don't how it would work in Tuvasa deck.
It is already a draw a card for 2 and if you have tuvasa on the board anyway you can easily spawn in krakens so I think that is an amazing addition especially due to boardwipes like you mentioned
I have some other cards i would put in: Murder Investigation (2mana)- if your creature dies, you get spirits, depending on your power One with Nature (1mana)- you ramp if you hit an enermie Pledge of Loyalty (2mana)- you gain protection from colors of permanents you controll (if you steal/copy the right things you can get protection from 5 colors^^) Predatory Hunger (1mana)- you get +1+1 counters depending on how much creatures all your enermies play ;) Urban Burgeoning (1 mana)- Untap enchanted land during each oponents untap Aegis of the Gods (2 mana)- you have hexproof (so no curses or have to sac) Mana Bloom(1 mana +x)- you can use charge counter, ones each turn to ad mana. If it has no counter on it at the beginning of an upkeep you get it back (so more casts to draw more) Callaphe, Beloved of the Sea (3 mana): Spells your opponents cast that target creatures or enchantments cost 1 more (depending on what you want more: let others pay more so they do less or having save your stuff) Blighted Agent (2mana): Infect and cant be blocked. That guy can be your second win con if you want to go voltron! And this cards only if you go also for +1+1: Simic Ascendancy (2 mana): you win if you have 20 grow counters that are prodused by having +1+1 counters Together Forever (2 mana): you get your creature back to your hand if it had a counter on it + bolster 2 Light of Promise (3mana): you get a +1+1 every time you gain life on enchanted creature This if you want another alternative win con: Enchanted Evening + Aura Shards = every creature you play destroys one permanent (also lands) then youll need things like Feed the Pack and Gift of Immortality^^ What do you think abou this?
Great deck. Enchantments are my favorite card type, especially auras. Sadly my favorite card didnt make the list. Aura gnarlid is one if my favorite cards. It gets boosted by the auras attatched to other permanents and cant be blocked by creatures with less power. Its a great backup damage dealer
I have like 4 of those leylines lol. I also run all of the Gods, and a lot of enchantment creatures. Also don't hate on Starfield, it's absurdly powerful. Also archetype of imagination is brutal, it makes her unlockable by itself.
Cutting helm of the gods is a big mistake. It couldn’t be more efficient and it sticks around when your creature gets killed, making it more resilient than most auras. I agree with most of what you said though.
Uril bricks much faster anyway while you get him on the board later in the game. Also I don't like red that much enchantment wise since it does not have proper card draw/protection synergy with enchantments.

One with Nature (1mana)- you ramp if you hit an enermie

Predatory Hunger (1mana)- you get +1+1 counters depending on how much creatures all your enermies play ;)
Urban Burgeoning (1 mana)- Untap enchanted land during each oponents untap
Aegis of the Gods (2 mana)- you have hexproof (so no curses or have to sac)
Mana Bloom(1 mana +x)- you can use charge counter, ones each turn to ad mana. If it has no counter on it at the beginning of an upkeep you get it back (so more casts to draw more)
Callaphe, Beloved of the Sea (3 mana): Spells your opponents cast that target creatures or enchantments cost 1 more (depending on what you want more: let others pay more so they do less or having save your stuff)
Blighted Agent (2mana): Infect and cant be blocked. That guy can be your second win con if you want to go voltron!
And this cards only if you go also for +1+1:
Simic Ascendancy (2 mana): you win if you have 20 grow counters that are prodused by having +1+1 counters
Together Forever (2 mana): you get your creature back to your hand if it had a counter on it + bolster 2
Light of Promise (3mana): you get a +1+1 every time you gain life on enchanted creature
