Sorry to hear about the parasites although I don't think it's velvet. They would be dead already if it were.. I think it's ich though. You are doing the right thing by getting them out of the display and into the quarantine tank. Just make sure you grab a copper test kit (preferably hanna) and keep the copper level above 2. some say 2.5, but I find 2 is just fine and less harmful. I couldn't tell, but you want to make sure you get all the fish out, not just the ones visibly carrying the ich parasite. Then the more unfortunate part is that you'll have to keep fish out of the display for a while. 72 days seems to be the number everyone says but I typically go a little longer just to be sure. Good luck brother!
It could be ich, that being said it took out four of my fish in less than two days hence why I'm leaning velvet. That being said the copper treatment is the same as far as I understand so regardless of what it is, I'm hoping I effectively deal with it and it doesn't come back
@@ioaquatics well done sir. Most newer reef keepers would just cross their fingers and hope the fish get through it, then just deal with it in the tank. You’re doing great the right thing even though it sucks, it’s what needs to be done. Moving forward, quarantine is best. I learned the hard way, mannnnny times. Now I QT every fish going in. 👏🏼
It doesn’t sound like ich to me. In my experience fish with ich don’t die that fast and can just live with it. Good luck on the treatment and I would be interested to see how it goes.
Since you got fire gobies, you should add a lid because they jump! As such in the small container to the other. Mine died to it so I suggest you get one!
Samesies happened here! Got my first tank, stocked with my fave fishes, corals, more corals, one more chromis and bammm velvet. I lost possum wrasse, chromis and my royal gramma missing. Clowns and midas blennies are just scratchy lets see. Hope your fishes survive as well.
@@aritosoto Thanks for sharing the update! Really sorry to hear that most of the fish did not make it. It's super hard, especially as you become attached to your fish. That being said, I'm glad you didn't lose everything!
Come from the recommendation from Reefdork, great videos & man this happened to me first fish in after cycle was two clowns and a bristle tooth tang and I lost the lot in two days was absolutely gutted. I did go fallow tank for 10 weeks but then decided to go all new sand rock came out and was cleaned not with chemicals tho, back in and cycled again and not looked back. Upgraded from the fluval M90 I had to. Waterbox frag 85.3 only recently. Will keep a close eye on your progress keep up the great content 😉
ah, what a shame. Sorry you had this, I lost fish to something similar in the beginning of my reefing journey, it's rubbish. I hope you are still able to keep the content going, although that will be challenging if you shut down your other tanks. good luck
I learned the hard way that you CAN infect a new tank with no fish, because stress can trigger outbreaks of dormant diseases. I lost 2 fish but managed to save the other 3 with treatments. I now practice Ich/White Spot management with a UV steriliser, been all good since then. If I ever set up another tank, I’d have a UV on it from day 1. Horrible experience trying to save your fish in a panic. I highly recommend you get a UV bud, it helps a lot.
Every thing I have read on these fish are that they are monogamous so are not suited to groups…they look good tho that’s why I looked them up was going to get a few myself.
I have heard similar but not sure I totally believe it yet, though if true, I suspect the San Diego tank worked because aggression was shared amongst 30 fish in a single tank. That being said the original plan was to monitor aggression closely and rehome the fish if I see any... Velvet sorta messed up that plan though

but yeah, the tank is now sitting empty for a couple months and the three survivors are sitting above 2 copper 30 days

@@Reef_Cognition yes, with fish death that quickly, sounds like it might be velvet. Either way it sucks and needs to be addressed. He’s got this!
Awesome tank! Love the shrimp goby combo.
Thanks! Me too!

Most definitely! If you look at my previous video you'll see I got one from Kraken

Aw man I'm so sorry. It really sucks to end up losing fish like that. Hoping for the best for your fish!
Update, only dragonet and one clown fish survived. Corals and invertiberates(how do you even write that) doing fine

Another awesome video! I'm hoping you have some good news in the next one and the treatments worked!
Yeah I'll keep you updated with how it all turns out!
Great video with a sad ending but I'm rooting for you and the fish! Sequel coming soon I hope. 👏🔥💯👌
Hopefully in a couple weeks I can add them back to the tank and make a video that is like "adding tiny fish part 2"

Appreciate the visit! So hard losing fish so quickly.... Good luck with your new tank upgrade!
Keep making videos man, content like this is underappreciated and I hope to do this someday in the future 👍👍
Appreciate it! I'll definitely keep it coming at a slow but steady pace :P

Oh I will definitely continue with content, ideally at least a video a month, but the next two months might be a little less focused on the waterbox

Yeah I have thought about a UV for a bit. I keep going back and forth on it. Glad to hear you were able to save a few of your fish!
Nightmare. Whether itch or velvet no fish in the tank for months to end the cycle.
yeah, my desk side tank is now just a fishless coral cube for a couple months
impressive work acting fast!
Thanks! Trying to do what I can
