    This is one of my favorite “no one has ever heard of this movie” films. I love it, Bill Murray is so known for being the cynical comedian he is in Groundhog Day and Ghostbusters, but here he’s so wholesome and gentle, but when you really stop and think about it, he’s 100% in the wrong. You can’t help but love him though! It’s amazing.

    This is absolutely one of my fav Bill Murray films and his pairing with Richard Dreyfuss was hilariously genius on screen even though they supposedly they didn' get along behind the screen.
    You should really watch/react to "Groundhog Day" and "Mad Dog and Glory"where Murray's paired up with Robert De Niro. Both of these films were also from the early 90s.

    • @ivannovak3414
      @ivannovak3414 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but they did not get along in a good way. Dreyfuss knew that Murray'd annoy him so he encouraged him to play it up, even, so that him acting out the annoyance of his character on screen would become even better.

    • @shawnlittle3091

    Great choice of movie and excellent review. Talking about Billy Murray's deadpan humor....about a year before this movie came out he made a movie called "Quick Change"....where he plays a sad clown that robs a bank. It also stars Geena Davis and Randy Quaid (cousin Eddy from the Lampoon movies). Check it out some time as its an often forgotten gem.

    Not sure if you like musicals, but Frank Oz directed the screen adaptation of the stage show "Little Shop of Horrors." They built an amazing set on the legendary 007 stage at Pinewood Studios in London. Bill Murray has an extended cameo in it, too! Great score by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman, both responsible for the Disney animation renaissance in the 80's/90's. There's a terrific documentary called "Howard" on Disney+.

    Fun trivia:Richard Dreyfuss in an article published on 8th October 2009 by Nathan Rabin in "The A.V. Club", said, "How about it? Funny movie. Terribly unpleasant experience. We didn't get along, me and Bill Murray. But I've got to give it to him: I don't like him, but he makes me laugh even now. I'm also jealous that he's a better golfer than I am. It's a funny movie. No one ever comes up to you and says, 'I identify with the patient'. They always say, 'I have patients like that. I identify with your character'. No one ever says that they're willing to identify with the other character".
    Fun trivia: Producer Laura Ziskin recalled having a disagreement with Bill Murray which led to her getting tossed into a lake by him. She confirmed in 2003, "Bill also threatened to throw me across the parking lot and then broke my sunglasses and threw them across the parking lot. I was furious and outraged at the time, but having produced a dozen movies, I can safely say it is not common behavior."
    Fun trivia:When Fay Marvin was tucking in Bob and her son Sigmund on the night of the Bob sleepover, she holds the sheets up to allow Bob to climb into his bed. Bill Murray improvises in the scene and crawls under the sheets head first, cracking up Julie Hagerty.

      Not to mention that Lilly is played by Muppeteer Fran Brill, who performed Prairie Dawn and Zoe on Sesame Street.

    Another fun movie with Richard Dreyfus is the classic American Graffiti, George Lucas's 2nd movie, also starring Ron Howard and Harrison Ford. This was Dreyfus's breakthrough film. Also Stakeout from 1987 is a really fun movie starring Dreyfus.

    This movie is a RIOT!! At the beginning of the movie Bob is the narcotic kinda nutty guy who seeks Dr. Marvin's help. And at the end of the movie it's Bob who is cured and Dr. Marvin is the one going crazy because of Bob. And Dr. Marvin did nothing except try to get away from Bob but in Bob's mind if was all Dr. Marvin who cured his craziness. So funny.

    As lovable as Bob is.....Leo wasn't wrong when he called him a "Textbook narcissist".

    I'm so glad you reviewed this movie. I never see anyone talk about this movie and yet it's so good. This is one of my favorite comedies. There's a another comedy movie that no one talks about and that is - See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989) starring Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder.

    This is one of THE best films I have ever watched bar none. Every comment you made is spot on. A Classic for sure. I first appreciated Mr Murray's talent after watching Stripes which of course is another classic and lets not forget Groundhog Day - simply another great Bill Murray comedy (possibly the best comedy of all time!!?!)

    This is an all time favorite, thanks for reviewing! You would like What's Up, Doc (1972) with Barbra Streisand. Directed by Peter Bogdonovich it's a tribute to screwball comedies like Bringing Up Baby (1938) with Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn--also worth watching!
