    The price to performance on the 40 series is not that great, and I don't expect any change for the 50 series. Already 12GB AGAIN for the 70 class tells you all you need to know. AMD was giving you 16GB back when the 3070 came out. Nvidia are going full apple, very little improvement but gimmie much more mon-ney.

    Too late, I just bought a 4080 Super. I've been waiting too long and I want to play around with a new PC over Xmas. The price was reasonable and a 5080 will probably be about £200-£300 more expensive (if I can get one) for around 20% more performance which I probably don't need anyway for playing at 2k.

    • @stangamer1151
      @stangamer1151 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      5080 will probably be 30-40% faster, judging by leaked CUs count and memory config. What will it's price be is the real puzzle. Don't think it will cost anything less than $1200.

      @jackbrown6788 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@stangamer1151 I'm not sure. The 4090 is around 25% faster than a 4080 Super in benchmarks so if what you say is correct, that means a 5080 will be faster than a 4090. But many commentators are saying that doesn't look to be the case. Time will tell.

    • @stangamer1151
      @stangamer1151 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jackbrown6788 In real gaming scenarios 4090 can be up to 35% faster than 4080. Usually it outperforms it by 30% at 4K. At 1440p the difference shrinks down to 25%. Taking into account the fact that 5080 has GDDR7 and thus much higher bandwidth than 4080, it may, at least, match 4090 and outperform it in RT (if it has more efficient RT cores, which is likely).

    6:37 The MSRP of the 1070 was $379. 😠 Not $500.
    Only the "Founder's Edition" was $50 more, supposedly to "not step on AIB partners' toes" (something that went to shit with the release of the 2000 cards).
    Edit: Oh, it's "adjusted with inflation", huh? Look at them trying to make "$600 for what is essentially a 60-class" happen. It's not going to happen.
    $379 adjusted for inflation was $479 in April 2023 (when they released the "4070")! 😠 Only $100 more, not almost double of "379"! And that "$479" by 2024 the price should have come down, because that's how it works, older tech gets discounted. 😠 BS justification by Nvidia. The "real" 4070 is now $800. And it's called "4070 Ti SUPER". 😡

    Yes, the new Nvidia cards are on their way, but I’ll go ahead and buy one now. I can always sell the old one later if needed. New cards often come with delays: drivers, bugs, and other issues. Plus, there’s always the question of power consumption-if it keeps climbing, even today’s setups might struggle. Not to mention the size of these cards; will they even fit standard cases? It’ll take time before we know all the details after the release, so why wait endlessly for the “perfect” card when I can enjoy a solid one now?

    Budget and MidRange Gamers have been extremely angry at Nvidia. I wouldn’t be surprised if they do the exact same thing for RTX 5000 series with RTX 4000 series where they inflate the price and give us less.
    If they end up selling an RTX 5060 with 8GB of VRAM on an 128 bit memory bus and it sells for around $400, that would make me extremely angry as that GPU is really a budget GPU priced at MidTeir.
    And the RTX 5070 with its 12GB of VRAM is a complete Joke is they sell it at 600-700. At that price you should be getting much more performance and VRAM.
    It seems to me that only the 5090 is worth it, but it is out of reach for most people.
    My suggestion would be to pick up a used Nvidia GPU or see wait RDNA4 has the offer.
    Form what I’ve heard the RX 8800XT is going to perform in between the 7900GRE and 7900XT, have better raytracing performance, have 16GB VRAM on a 256bit memory bus, and will be price around $500 or lower.
    I believe the 8800XT will match or beat the RTX 5070.
    If that is the case then the decision for mid range is clear. RX8800XT is the way to go.

    People are so stupid for buying the 4060 because now it's one of the most popular GPUs. Anyone who is at least relatively experienced with PC gaming will know the 4060 is a 4050. Nvidia has gotten away with using an 07 chip, which is normally used for the 50 class GPU into a 60 class GPU. This is why I call it the fake 4060 because it has the performance of a 4050, but with the 4060 naming scheme and price slapped onto it. Worst of all, the 4060 managed to get this popular with only 8GB of VRAM on a measly 128-bit bus. This proves people really are that stupid and don't bother doing any research before buying a GPU. Hopefully, the 5060 doesn't suffer from the same problem, and it actually ends up using the full 06 chip and not the 07 chip.

    Here's simplest estimation of pricing based on leaked design. Nvidia made 5080 manufacturing cost match 4080 super. And 5090 twice the 5080 manufacturing cost. Nvidia has pretty much slapped same multiplier from 1080ti to 4090 to manufacturing cost. So 5080 is probably 999$ and 5090 is 1999$.

    • @stangamer1151

      5080 should cost roughly half of 5090, if it has 2 times less CUs/CUDA cores/VRAM. 4070 Ti is in fact half of 4090 and it was priced at $800 (exactly half of 4090 price).

    • @stangamer1151
      @stangamer1151 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @zdspider6778 It was like this. But 4000 series changed the pace. 4090 is much more powerful card than 4080. And it looks like the gap between 5090 and 5080 will be even bigger. Now higher end cards offer better value. 192 bit bus is not a problem - if they use GDDR7 and 3GB modules, then 5070 will have 18GB buffer and 672GB/s bandwidth (same as 4070 Ti S). With these specs it would be a truly great '70 class card.

We don't know exact multiplier but double is probably underestimation. Second thing was need to clear 3000 series inventory without reducing prices. 4090 was not a problem there and was priced accordingly to its costs. What I've heard is that manufacturers are late with 3GB modules, so availability of those dictate when bigger memory amount with same bus width will happen.
      If we look refresh VS 4090 the cost compared to price becomes more obvious. It's probably going to be same with 50 series. The designs themselves pretty much suggested that Nvidia learned that you can charge as much as you want for the fastest card but not for the second fastest. Thus the fastest card is designed to be 33% costlier than previous flagship but second fastest is designed to match previous costs. And mid to low-end Nvidia is where there's going to be competition. Nvidia couldn't make their designs wider without making them costlier thus they went for frequency.

      @@stangamer1151 Dude, stop sucking on Leather Jacket Guy's tail pipe.
      192-bit is a problem.
      A 70-class should NOT match the previous gen 70Ti. It should match or SURPASS the previous gen 80Ti! 😠
      I still remember watching Leather Jacket Guy live on stage who touted (tooted?) the 1070 as being _faster than the Titan X._
      That card was $999, matched by a $379 one. The "Titan" was renamed the 90 class today.
      The 5070 should match the 4090, and it won't. Because 192-bit is severely gimping it. They gimped it because that's what Gimpvidia does. They gimp things.
      And the upcoming 5000 cards should NOT be compared to the 4000.
      Because the 4000 cards were ALL downgraded by 1-2 tiers (except for maybe the 4090).
      The "4060" should have been called the 4050.
      The "4060Ti" should have been called the 4050Ti.
      The "4070" should have been called the 4060.
      The "4070 Ti SUPER" should have been called the 4070.

    rally would like RX Gre, too expensive for now. RTX4080s, double that, but would feel cozier. If AMD made chip that would be RX 7900 XTX (super(better effiency in general) for that wattage) for 800 bucks i would buy that.

    Hope to not see ngreedia pull a fast one on us again. (* ̄︿ ̄)
    Was able snatch a 7900xtx mag air on sale at newegg for $850 around october 10th not to bumbed. Same thought process myself with holiday return will wait to see 5080 msrp. 1000 msrp return..... 1200 msrp keep simple. This card when oc'ed is 20-24% faster than 4080 super, on 3dmark she can take it. A true beast, close to 4090 in performance; within 6%. |

      Yeah I can already see all the scams resellers will be stirring up over the next few months as nvidia overhypes the 50 series and with a rekindled bitcoin boom it seems like it will def be a rough couple of months for people looking to get upgrades for their general use
