- Paul, in Athens, preaches from Mars’ Hill about the unknown god. He says, We are the offspring of God.
Acts 17:16-34
16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.
17 Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.
18 Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.
19 And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is?
20 For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.
21 (For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)
22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.
23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.
30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
32 And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.
33 So Paul departed from among them.
34 Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

Son, I think that’s the lord convicting your heart and your heart wanting something to fill it, that only god has. Don’t ignore it embrace it and call out to the lord and he will answer.
This video is a great reminder that we are all children of God and we are all brothers and sisters.
Many find it odd we have so many epistles of Paul in The Holy Bible, but I am grateful. It shows us his conversion was deep and total. I love him and grateful I was a missionary so I could know what it was and is like to step in the shoes of the Apostles declaring the good news of Christ. Granted I do not have the authority of an apostle. But I had the authority and power to preach the Gospel. That all may have the same peace and joy I have as a member of Christ's restored church.

In just a few words it is filled with doctrines such as pre-existence of mankind, that we are all brothers and sisters, regardless of race distinction - the children of God. Wonderful to know that with all the knowledge of the Greek pantheon - like Zeus, Hera, and the endless list of deities that describe God / θεός and how in truth God powers the galaxies stars and planets, is but yet complete ignorance to actually knowing God the Father. As Paul says in Corinthians, you can have all knowledge, knowing all mysteries - but have not Love, you are nothing.
The only way to truly know God the Father, is to know and understand the way of his only begotten son on Earth, Jesus Christ. Its a wonderful gift to understand.

He doesn't literally mean the offspring of God like sexually born spirit children, he means that Adam was created by God and that God is as a father to Adam as he created him in his own image, and we being the children of Adam, are the children of God, btw God is the only God to ever exist, there was none before him nor bone made after him, Jesus Christ is God and is not Lucifer's brother, we cannot become God's, and Mormonism is false, just read the Bible on a non biased attitude and you will see that Joseph Smith was a false prophet

Yes the unknown god has a personal name, yes his name is JEHOVAH.

Not to the Greeks Paul is talking to, God is "θεός". And is unknown to them because they do not know the WAY of his only begotten son on Earth, Jesus Christ. Paul specifically is talking to the Greeks, with the Greek deities and understanding like Zeus and Hera - when he says to them regarding their pantheon of deities "him I declare unto you".
Think of the weight of those words. Amazing! 💕

We are all the offspring of God, and also heirs of God, and through our faithfulness, future joint heirs with Jesus Christ! What powerful truths Paul taught about our eternal purpose, and our potential future destiny to become like God! It's all made possible because of the gracious act of Jesus Christ's atoning sacrifice, and resurrection, that we can access through our faith.

16While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was deeply troubled by all the idols he saw everywhere in the city. 17He went to the synagogue to reason with the Jews and the God-fearing Gentiles, and he spoke daily in the public square to all who happened to be there.
18He also had a debate with some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers. When he told them about Jesus and his resurrection, they said, “What’s this babbler trying to say with these strange ideas he’s picked up?” Others said, “He seems to be preaching about some foreign gods.”

22So Paul, standing before the council,e addressed them as follows: “Men of Athens, I notice that you are very religious in every way, 23for as I was walking along I saw your many shrines. And one of your altars had this inscription on it: ‘To an Unknown God.’ This God, whom you worship without knowing, is the one I’m telling you about.
24“He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples, 25and human hands can’t serve his needs-for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need. 26From one manf he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries.
27“His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him-though he is not far from any one of us. 28For in him we live and move and exist. As some of yourg own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ 29And since this is true, we shouldn’t think of God as an idol designed by craftsmen from gold or silver or stone.
30“God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him. 31For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead.”
32When they heard Paul speak about the resurrection of the dead, some laughed in contempt, but others said, “We want to hear more about this later.” 33That ended Paul’s discussion with them, 34but some joined him and became believers. Among them were Dionysius, a member of the council,h a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

Not a very persuasive performance by the actor playing Paul. His voice sounds too modern, somehow.
In this regard, the actors playing Christ and Peter and several of the other apostles in these Bible Videos sound a little more timeless (perhaps it's the trace of an accent that they possess).
Gorgeously filmed, though -- the setting really does resemble Greece -- and the other actors apart from Paul himself are quite convincing.

"Ofspring" means of the same kind. So when a person accepts Jesus as his Savior, he adopted as ckearly stated in Holy Scripture. He does NOT become divine as the heretical sects claim. The saved child of God remains "a little lower than an angel. But without salvation, this truth will remain hidden.
