    cool video. I've been using the 55-210 with my a6400, along with the 16-50, and the 35mm f1.8 OSS for low light situations, and I have to say, all of them are giving me incredible results. For filmmaking, they are all great, and the 55-210 and the kit lens, at least to me, are really underrated and take a beating for no real reason. You can do great work with both. Maybe they don't measure up if you start pixel peeping, or pull out the cards and analyze the corners, or whatever, but for real life filmmaking, you can do pro level work with both, and if you have one more lens, like the 35mm that I have, given the f1.8, you pretty much have every scenario covered. At least in my humble opinion. ;) Thanks for the review, awesome work, and stay well!!

      i also have the 50mm 1.8 n the 16-35mm kit lens, now I wanna buy a zoom lens. should I buy the 55-210 or spend some extra to buy the 18-135 for that extra sharpness? 🤔 I mean they say the 55-210 is very soft especially at above 185

      @@amaan1169 I love the 55-210, and I actually think it’s quite sharp. As long as you have enough light, it’s actually very sharp. But you’re at 6.3, so you definitely need enough light. You can get those really cheap, but if you don’t need that kind of rage, I think the 18-105 is really good. I had that lens for a while and I really liked it, but I don’t really like using zoom lenses all that much, so I sold it, and bought a Zeiss batis 25mm F2. Which I really love. It’s a full frame lens, but it’s awesome. Of course, the new Sigma 18-50 F2.8 is supposed to be the sharpest of them all, and really not that expensive, but it also does not have any stabilization. The Tamron 17-70 is an awesome lens, with stabilization, but much more expensive. B&H is running a sale on that lens right now, but it’s still $699. If you are looking for a zoom lens that starts at 55mm, I easily would recommend the 55-210, just make sure you have enough light. I think you’ll love that lens.

    Own both lenses. The 55-210 hardly comes off the shelf now but it’s too cheap to sell.
    The 18-105 is superb for all run and gun shooting and gimbal work. Tend to use primes for planned shoots.
    Another factor of the 18-105 is the fixed aperture, which is ideal for zooming in video..

    I shoot 16mm and 30mm mostly, but can sure see adding both of those in the future. The 55-210mm is so cheap, I saw one here for $130 that was unopened ... I still would probably by the 18-105mm first. Good show as always. I'm glad to see this comparison.

    The 55-210mm is more of a specialist range and shouldn't be compared to an all round lens like the 18-105mm. There isn't enough difference in quality where the lenses overlap.

      @mauriincs 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the 18-135mm has even more definition than both lenses tested in the video. To such an extent that if a 135mm image is cropped to have the same zoom as the 210mm you will achieve the same image quality.

    I use both. 18-105 95% of time and 55-210 for the extra zoom (wild life mostly). It seems OK for a noob like me. This combo covers most of my needs as I don't do a lot of low light shots

    With the aps-c crop factor of the 18-105mm lens being equivalent to 157mm . Would this lens be good enough to film football from the sideline ?

    For me, my 55-210 is sufficient, particularly at the price. The 18-105 looks like a great lens an you've demonstrated the comparison really well.
    If I were to go back, I'd probably opt for the 18-105.
    Good stuff.

      Glad the 55-210 is working out well for you. It seems to be a lens people seem to like or really dislike! As mentioned in the video I still use mine a lot.
      The 18-105 is a big decision but I've been very happy with it so far! Thanks for watching!

      The 18-105 now lives on my camera and is excellent. The 16-50 hasn't come out of my camera bag since. I've just bought the 55-210 (got it dirt cheap) for the occasional telephoto shot.

    Sony PZ 18-105mm f/4 OSS 'G была создана прежде всего для съемки видео, для путешествий - в меру универсальна, имеет отличный плавный трансфокатор, пригодна для съемки портретов, пейзажей, архитектуры...Я ее использую для этих целей с 2014 года и не жалею. А для ночной съемки и получения сверхрезких фото использую СИГМА 30\1.4 ДС-ДН...

    Great , I think this sel is better than this G
    18-104 for record video
    55-210 for photography

    • @ifeanyi_maduka
      @ifeanyi_maduka 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Should actually be the other way round I think. The 55-210 for video, where too much sharpness is actually undesirable. The sharper lens should be used for photography, however.

    • @muctrun9me7768

      @@ifeanyi_maduka but 18-105 is smoothly zoom and it made by metal, so when you record at 4k the heat from the device can transit to the lens, it give off the heat easily. Moreover, the lighting of F4 is stable in video than F3,5 - 5,6.
