Ideal backup to my shallow well pump because it can be used to prime the pump by sucktion which pitcher pumps will not do. Perfect if you don't keep water stashed for priming or run out. Many versions are available so see the makers site.
EDIT: My Bosworth just saved my ass troubleshooting one well requiring multiple primes and priming the second to which I attached a mobile shallow pump (just a pump on a steel skid but the skid makes it easy to tighten pipe fittings and keeps the pump stable, a wood "pallet" would work fine for those without welders).

      I agree!

Did you add a belt primer to your setup, or just stick with the original ceramic spring bore?

@@OGRH No mods other than adding a spigot to my well pump which doubles as another outdoor hose connection.

Would this pump a lot of air at low pressure (10-15 psi) if I put a linear actuator rod up above it and drove it at 60-120 strokes per minute with an electric motor? It looks like it would suck air in on the one flapper check valve and push out the other check valve. I need a cheap air compressor that will push 2-4 cubic feet of air at maybe 12-15 psi for a water well air lift pump.

What is the model number of the long handle unit? Or is it just a replace top for a standard base?

Do you have a link to that exact setup with the longer handle etc? Any issues since you made this vid?

I solved the handle issue with a piece of slip-fit stainless tubing I had lying around and slid inside the stock handle since I didn't feel like buying a Bosworth cheap on Amazon then paying for some official tubing. Works perfectly and any tubing or rod of the correct OD will do. Remember the Bosworth applies suction (the hardest work) on the PULL stroke so mount yours to something convenient. I used the plastic "pallet" the my water pump was bolted to for shipping since this pump is for mobile use. A 2x6 with room to step on would be fine if yours isn't permanently mounted. For a permanent mount say in a pump house with room I'd screw it to a vertical post. Bosworth make a wide variety of marine pumps including foot pumps so check their website to determine what suits your use case. The only minor issue I had was the little "bumper" pad that keeps the movable plate on the diaphraghm from going too far fell out when my bro borrowed the pump, but I'll make a PVC stop and glue it in place. There's no obvious reason it would fall off (aircraft and car mech etc etc here who knows what he's looking at) so that wouldn't affect my buying another (which I will after my wallet heals from replumbing half my old house). I want more Bosworth pumps as I've many potential uses for them. Their build quality is excellent.

can it transfer water mixed with sand?

The flapper valves (I tore mine down for inspection before using it) would cope with sand as they're just rubber flaps. I don't know if they would work well with a serious sand slurry but that's what diaphragm pumps are used for in industry. Contact Bosworth tech support! More people should think to ask the companies who make what they buy. thebosworthco.com/ I blew about twenty gallons of very sandy well water from an old well through mine with zero ill effects before the water cleared (I primed my well pump and left the Bosworth connected when I ops checked the pump).
