Exploring Austria 5 Fingers Dachstein Krippenstein Mountains

- 5 Fingers is a viewing platform in the Dachstein Mountains of Upper Austria on Mount Krippenstein in Salzkammergut region. It was named Five Fingers by virtue of its hand-like shape.
The 5fingers viewing platform in Obertraun is one of Austria's must-see places. Obertraun is about an hour away from Bad Ischl by public transportation. You can also visit it from Salzburg. It is about a 2-hour drive from Salzburg. The viewing platform is about a 30-minute hike from the Krippenstein Station of the Dachstein cable car line.

We went there during winter time. It’s not crowded and the view is so stunning like you were in the sea of clouds

You're absolutely right. Bad ischl is a good base. I visited that area 8 years ago. I stayed in st Gilgen though. I'd stay in Bad Ischl if I had to visit again. You provided very helpful information. IMHO every person planning a trip to that region should watch this video......
Thank you so much for the kind comment. Saint Gilgen is also a beautiful town and is close to Salzburg but it is a little bit far from Obertraun and Hallstatt.

Did you use public transportation throughout? Isn't it easier to rent a car like Iceland? Or is it like Switzerland?
It depends. Public transportation is easier in most parts of Austria and renting a car is useful in some parts. You don’t need to rent a car all the time.
How u reach there??after hallstatt?
Im here in Hallstatt and I want to come herr . I can ride the bus and take the first cable car but the problem is ..when can I come back to hallstatt. I can t estimate the time . At 12 30 I need to take the train to Vienna . Ahhh I should ve booked the train after 3 p.m .
You may not have time to finish visiting both before 3pm.

If ..I dont come back to my hotel in hallstatt near saltmine . I can save some time. Completimg trip to fivw finger ,I can take the train at obertran . Because I can buy ticket and take the train just to hallstatt .. as I booked train from hallstadt to Vienna at 12.30 ./ from 9 and 12 (or earlier than 12 .enough?:) / is there any danger to miss my train.
I don't think you have enough time to make it.
No ice cave , go strsightfoward to five fingers and come back down to cable car kasse 😂 less than 3 hours . How about this? If it's not possible , I ll give up .😅😅😅
