@@ms.kayak7seas I only noticed the Christmas thing when I played back the video. This was a super day out and one that made me feel glad I started vlogging. There was only 1 tunnel to speak of on the Schafberg cog railway. I cheated for once. Well I cheated a lot on that trip. I still have a bit more to come from it. And you know me I do like to get away from the crowds whenever I can. The views were amazin on the Schafberg mountain. I'm so glad you enjoyed the views I managed to capture. Beautiful ferry ride to the part where you picked up the Cog Train, Paul. Then a stunning ride up to an area with stunning views of the lakes! Gorgeous on your hike around and loved the sharp drop-offs on the cliffs. From behind the fence! You mean you see folks (riff raff) like us up there! 🤣🤣We'd be on that train and would walk around a little. But, not on that steep climb to the top! We agree though. Pretty awesome view and a wonderful trip! Thanks for bringing us along. 😁😁
Hi Dave n Kathy, yeah it's a bit more comfortable taking in the views from behind the fence but not quite the same adrenaline rush. And couldn't possibly comment on the riff raff 😂 The train was quite marvellous. I do like to go off on my wanders away from the crowds tho. The ferry ride there and back was a super added bonus too. All made up for memorable day. I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views from the day trip from Salzburg. Thank you so much for taking time to watch 👍🙂Paul
St Wolfgang Schafberg mountain; Ah....spectacular with the stunning views! Loved the cool train ride and seeing the cross on the mountain; 26:33 too narrow for me Joking Hermit; I would have a panic attack (seriously). 32:28 beautiful lake; looks refreshing! Thank you for another wonderful share of beautiful Salzburg, Austria! Happy weekend!
Hi Tracy, I'm so glad you enjoyed this trip up the Schafberg on the Schafberg cog railway. It was an awesome few hours out and one to make me feel glad I started vlogging my travels. This whole series has made me realise how beautiful this region is. I have only been to Austria in the winter (skiing when I was much younger) but the lakes and mountains are clearly spectacular during the summer. Thanks for sharing, Paul.
Hi Andy, I still have one or 2 videos up my sleeve from the trip as well. I was spoiled pretty much on the whole trip for views. An amazing trip. It's days like this one makes me glad I started vlogging. I'm glad you enjoyed the views I managed to capture. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍Paul

Hi Morgs Jo and Boo, this was another awesome day out on awesome trip to Germany and Austria. I got super lucky with the weather on this day and could see for miles, it was perfect. Thank you very much for taking time to watch 🙂👍Paul
There was such a beautiful place in the world.😍😍 You get on a unique train to go to heaven closest to the sky. A fantastic combination of sky and rivers and mountains.!!! So fantastic.👍👍

Paul, I would say that is some of the most spectacular scenery I’ve ever seen 😍 That view from the cross is just staggering and I don’t blame you being careful with drops like that. 10/10 mate and even relatively quiet for such a stunning place 👍
Hi Phil, the views was pretty astonishing I have to say. And again I got lucky getting such a clear day with great weather. It's a trip that will live long in the memory. It wasn't super busy but great to make my way away from the crowds. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍Paul
Hi Paul, a lovely boat trip and the houses along the way were beautiful, the water looks so very clear. I liked the idea of catching the cog railway to the top of the mountain. The views on the way up were amazing. Stunning at the top. Looks a lovely day, the skies are so blue. The stodge looked like a huge pretzel. ha ha , lovely views on the return boat journey, take care have a great week, x Julie and Tony x

Hello, wow, what a beautiful and interesting tour, great video, thank you for sharing, I really like it, friendly like, have a good evening, good luck and all the best🤗🤗😍🤗
Oh, good and bad memories bind me to this mountain. The views from the top are fascinating, however, I injured my leg there last summer, the consequences of which I still feel a little. You had a great weather while filming and you presented this masterfully! Hats off my friend!
I remember watching the video. Your ankles always seem to remember things like that for a while, I hope it stops reminding you soon. I was super lucky with the weather as the forecast was for heavy rain mid afternoon and that came in whilst on the bus back to Salzburg. The views on the Schafberg were absolutely amazing. I was lucky I could see for miles and could see the Dachstein mountains on the horizon from Spinnerin.
Hi Paul! What a beautiful boat ride followed by a stunning train ride! The views were extraordinary. You were incredibly high up and extremely brave to climb up those rocks to the top. It made my knees go a bit wobbly, lol! Thank you for taking us along on this fabulous trip! ❤❤
Hi Julie n Lucy, this is another trip I'd wanted to do for a wee while and what a great day for it, it turned out to be. The views were amazing at every turn. It was pretty high up on Spinnerin and a bit precarious. You could say brave or stupid 😂 I guess I get used to it but I don't take undue risks. Sorry for making your knees go wobbly 😂 I'm glad you enjoyed the trip. Thank you very much for coming along for the ride 🙂👍Paul

Absolutely stunning place Paul and that cog railway looked amazing . The views all around here are beautiful especially up at the summit view point, doesnt mattter if you cheated 😃 That place is surrounded by mountains and lakes ! These places in your recent videos have been so gorgeous and watchable 👍~ Anna
Hi Anna, this one was my first cog railway and what a ride it was. This one had awesome views in every direction. It makes me so glad I started vlogging to help remember the day by. Cool boat ride some good mountain views on the journey. Then a train ride up the mountain looked steep in parts. More great views definitely stunning very high up 😮 Nice cross ✝️ Cool 360 views. I'm glad the weather held off raining for you . Did well avoiding the crowds so many good views . Thanks for sharing your journey with us, Hermit 👍
The whole trip was pretty amazing and will live long in the memory. I'm glad I started vlogging now. The rain actually came down while I was on the bus back to Salzburg so got real lucky and real burnt too. I'm glad you enjoyed the trip up the Schafberg and the views I managed to capture. Paul, your footage is amazing! Im glad the weather was in your favor. The boat ride was lovely, I loved the color of the water. You had the best seat on the train to showcase the views for us! That hike to the top of the mountain was awesome! Thanks for sharing your adventure! 😊

wow what an amazing looking place, the landscape is out of this world! The views from the lake were so magical but when you could see the views from the top on your walk that really showed how amazing the area really is. Austria is definitely a hidden gem x
This was an amazing day out up the Schafberg mountain on the Schafberg cog railway. The views just seemed to get better and better. Austria really is beautiful. I'm so glad you enjoyed those views I managed to capture. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍Paul
That's an amazing view up there. Wow. Its quite the unique experience taking that train. I love soft pretzels! You really can't find a bad view from anywhere up there.
Hi Peter, this was a pretty amazing few hours out and one to make me feel glad I started vlogging. The Schafberg cog railway was pretty cool. There was awesome views all around up there. Thank you very much for watching. Have a great week ahead 👍🙂Paul
Hi Paul. Your ferry ride was amazing! The houses scattered along the shoreline with the mountains behind them were beautiful. Wow what a train ride up into the mountains….the sights were impressive! Thanks for sharing your wonderful traveling adventure! 👍😊🇨🇦

Omg that’s just a stunner. We will definitely try and get time to do this in the Autumn. Love the ferry ride but it’s the cog railway that our family will love. The views from up there are incredible!! Another great share Paul. 👍
Hi Dave, you should definitely make time if you can. This was another awesome day out and I was super lucky with the weather on this day. A day to make me feel glad that I started vlogging. I'm now starting to run out of awesome footage from this most memorable trip to Germany and Austria. I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views from the trip up the Schafberg cog railway. Thank you very much for watching 👍🙂Paul
Great views over to Shafberg from St Gilgen, it’s quite an imposing mountain over Wolfgangsee. Definitely a place I’d like to return to. What an amazing railway journey that looks! You had perfect weather for your visit, it’s certainly a popular spot and it’s easy to appreciate why. 12:44 the gap in the wall, thats the way we came up and I can assure you that is one of, if not the most difficult mountain climbs we have ever done! ❤ thanks for the shout out Paul! Think we’ll take the train or the easier route next time! 😂your series on Germany/Austria is really making us rethink our holiday plans this year, what an awesome trip! Have to admit even touching the cross with that sheer drop beside it is nerve wracking! Can see the cable car from St Gilgen up the Zwölferhorn across the way! Really doesn’t feel like you’re practically at 6000 foot, how well maintained everything is up there. Mmm, salty stodge! You had the hike to the tip practically to yourself! Ah St Wolfgang, we shall return! Great video ❤
It had been a trip I'd wanted to do for a few years. In fact the whole trip was. I need to return to the region for a bit of unfinished business and some new explores I feel. The weather on this day ended up being better than forecast so I was super lucky cos it was perfect. It actually started to rain whilst on the bus on the way back to Salzburg. It looked pretty steep to hike up and maybe one day I will do it. However the train is pretty awesome for a cheat mode. I must admit I was watching my step going to the top of Spinnerin cos any misstep might not have been fun. It sure got the adrenaline pumping anyway. The cable car is pretty much across the way from the 150 bus stop to Salzburg. The ferry and train wasn't cheap but you only live once I say and for memories like that I'd say it was worth it. I still have one or 2 more videos to come from the trip. I still need to sort out my big trip for this year yet. I have a week in Scotland booked but need to decide on one or 2 others. I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views from this day trip and the tour of an old favourite. Thank you very much for watching 👍🙂Paul
Pretty amazing that Paul from the steam boat crossing to the cog train (fab pov view ) But the summit definitely is breathtaking Paul (these northern Alps 🏔️🏔️Are breathtaking) Great film Best regards Simon 🤠👍🏔️

That was a great train ride. The views from the top were epic. I would definitely want to do this one..! I thought you were going off the cliff on that hike shot 😮😮
I'm glad you enjoyed the trip up Schafberg cog railway and the captured views from the top. Thankfully I didn't go off any cliffs. Thank you very much for watching. Have a great week ahead 🙂👍Paul
Beautiful boat ride Paul, can't get over the colour of the water. Imagine living on one of those lakeside homes, amazing. As someone who works in the railway industry, it's cool to see trains in other countries. This is slightly more scenic than the London Bridge - East Grinstead line. I'm sure Nick and Jill will appreciate the mention. Amazing views up there! I've seen uglier mushes mate 😂 wish I had that attitude towards food, my waistline wishes it too 😂 that looked like a pretzel to me! Lovely day out mate! Shame about the crying baby but not much you can do about that (bring earplugs 😂)
Hi Matt, this was an awesome few hours out and one to make me feel glad I started vlogging my travels. The Schafberg cog railway was pretty cool and pretty scenic but the views got even better at the top. I sure got super lucky with the weather and I have to say I'm not a fan of pretzels. I think it had a years supply of my salt intake in that single pretzel. The crying baby was a small price to pay for a super day. Thank you very much for watching. Have a great week ahead 🙂👍Paul
Hi Cara, I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views from the trip up the Schafberg via the Schafberg cog railway. It was an awesome few hours out. Thank you very much for watching. Have a great week 👍🙂Paul
Hey Paul! Fantastic tour, love the ferry ride across the emerald green lake and the train up the mountains ❤ stunning view at 13.03, imagine putting a swing there. Well worth the hike even if you didnt get the full cross in the frame haha. My legs are tired just from watching all that walking and hiking. 😂
Hi Lina, I'm so glad you enjoyed this tour up the Schafberg on the Schafberg cog railway. It was a super day out and the views were absolutely stunning. A school boy error with the cross. This was an easy hike out compared to what I'm used to. Thank you very much for watching 👍🙂Paul
Hi Nanete, I'm so glad you enjoyed this trip up the Schafberg on the Schafberg cog railway. It's days like this that makes me feel glad I started vlogging my travels. This was an awesome day out and sure you can join me some time. Thank you very much for taking time to watch 🙂👍Paul
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful. I hope you have a great time in St Wolfgang when you visit. Thank you very much for dropping me a comment, Paul
Wow. I just couldn't stop saying wow all the way through this video, and I don't just mean the Gin Pit T-shirt 🤣😆though it was good to see it got an outing haha. Were you driving that train Paul ? cos that other guy sure didn't seem to be doing much & was defo hands free !! But then the real stunning views came, and then there were more, and then even more ... fabulous. every turn there was an awesome vista with a different feature to make the perfect shot. Oh I'll have to check out the GenX video too 😃Looked like it was a great choice to head out onto that final hill. I was on the edge of my seat though I'd guessed you hadn't fallen off !! Not normally a fan of trains on mountains but if I ever get the chance to go to this area I'd be on this one like a shot. Another fantastic video Paul .. husky voice worked well too though maybe needed another beer 😄Well done another winner 👍
Hi Christine, I did spoil the views with the Gin Pit tshirt on occasion 😂 The guy you saw wasn't driving the train as the engine was on the back 🙂 It's not like me to go on trains but when time is short it's got to be done and this sure was worth doing. The views from the Schafberg mountain were amazing in all directions. Oh yeah that climb up to Spinnerin was quite steep in places and got the adrenaline going a bit. I'm not sure where the husky voice came from ha ha. I had a few beers back at the ranch in Salzburg. I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views from this day trip from Salzburg. Thank you very much for watching. 🙂👍Paul
Quite some dramatic intro music. The train looked really cool. Reminds me of our trip to Rothorn, where they have a similar train. It also is a steam powered one. At the Rothorn train, it is really hard to get a ticket for the way up, but down is usually fine. The view down to the lake very much reminds of of the same trip. It is very similar in beauty. Your dangerous drop at the edge... That looked pretty much like a hiking path :D. Even red-white, not even blue-white. Speaks to the tourists making their way up to the summit on the train. Very beautiful place.
well hopefully the intro works. The Schafberg cog railway was pretty cool and I had no problems getting a ride up or down. I hope to visit Switzerland some time in the next year or 2. Maybe I will give you a shout if and when I do. I think the dangerous drop was over played a little but I suspect not your usual hikers check it out so a warning to those. The climb up to Spinnerin later on was a little more dicey but still not too bad. This was the type of day that made me feel glad I started vlogging my travels with those views. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍Paul

does your shirt say gin pit? 😂ok, i googled and now i see it's not necessarily describing you but a place. 🤣 i think i would have enjoyed just the ferry ride alone, but i loved the train ride. such dramatic music! the driver looked thrilled. 🤭the word i keep thinking for this scenery is luscious with the rich greens and the blue skies and water. do you ever get nervous walking on these steep bits while carrying the camera? any close calls you've never shared? gorgeous place paul!!! sending you my best🛴❤
Hi Anne, it sure does say Gin Pit 😂Yes it's an old coal mine near where I live and there's a 5 mile running race named after it. I'm not an alchy...honest 😜The ferry ride was quite fabulous and the Schafberg cog train ride was superb but the views at the top were amazing. The steep bits do get the adrenaline going but I don't take undue risks. If I think it's very risky I put the camera away and have done on a few occasions. Thankfully I've not had any what you would call a close call. I'm glad you enjoyed the lake views and the rich greens of Summer. Thank you so much for taking time to watch 👍🙂 Paul

Thanks heaps for your brilliant shots of the amazing landscapes I'll be visting in June, weather permitting. I am over seventy, can well relate to your diatry needs and phisically unable to walk to the best spots on Schafberg. Could you suggest a spot near the train station where I can fly my drone without bothering anybody? Cheers, Rolf from Australia.
Hi Rolf, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and the captured views. It sure was an awesome day out. I'd say the best spot for a drone where it's quiet is to walk in the opposite direction from the hotel and towards the tunnel. The walk is pretty flat and will take you to a flat outcropping after about 10 minutes of walking. You can see this walk and the outcropping I speak of from around 22 to 23 minutes on the video. The crowds tend to stick around at the hotel and restaurants which is actually harder to walk to from the train station. I hope that helps and also hope you get great weather on your visit. Cheers, Paul
@@TheHikingHermit All this old limping hermit managed but much enjoyed: th-cam.com/video/AoinB8lTkLo/w-d-xo.html The Schafberg was a little too high for my heart, I decided for Zwölfer Horn 300m lower. In neither case could drone shots contribute much to the groundview or your recordings. I'll be at the Dorffest again next year and order ''Käse Spätzerl'' for dinner at Brunetties, where not even Kaiser Franz Joseph could have complained about the meal nor service and price. Good journeys!, Rolf.🙂
@@rolfgerig9829 ah still a good choice. I wanted to go up there too but didn't have time. Hopefully I will return one day to do it. Looks and sounds like you had a great time 🙂
Hey i have enjoyed your video nice presentation I would like to visit also from slazburg can you just briefly explain how to get the bus and ferry and the train also how much will cost totally I will come from Finland
Hi, you need to buy a return ticket from the driver of the 150 bus which is caught at the bus station in front of Salzburg main railway station. It takes about 45 minutes to get to St Gilgen where you get off and walk for 10 minutes to the lake side where you buy a round trip ticket for the ferry and train up the Schafberg. Total cost including bus to get there is approximately 60 euros. I hope that helps.
I'm assuming you mean to leave whilst you go up the Schafberg on the cog railway. I'm not sure they have any storage for suitcases. However there might be some provision as there is a hotel on the Schafberg mountain. I'd email/call them to ask and if you get no joy perhaps email/call the hotel on the Schafberg mountain to see if they will store it. Sorry I couldn't give you a definitive answer but I hope that helps, Paul

Beautiful railway trip, the views from the top are spectacular 👍31
Like 65, Awesome footage capturing the beautiful alluring scenery as the gift of the mother nature, thanks for sharing and bringing us to this wonderful relaxing place and stay safe always.
Wow… I do believe you visit some of the most beautiful places on earth Paul… that was awesome. Great footage…. The train ride was super fun as well… Have a great weekend Buddy, Jim ✌️
Hi Jim, this was a super day out and the type of day that makes me feel glad I started vlogging my travels. The ride on the Schafberg cog railway was pretty cool and the views up there were unreal. I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views from the day. Thank you so much for taking time to watch. Have a great week ahead 👍🙂Paul
Amazing views of Austria mountain.I really enjoyed this.I love hiking too.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the captured views from this trip up the Schafberg on the Schafberg cog railway. Thank you very much for watching. Have a great week ahead, my friend 👍🙂
It was a bit narrow up to Spinnerin but some great views up there. Thank you very much for taking time to watch. Have a great week ahead 🙂👍The Joking Hermit

I did have to cut a lot of footage as the video was already quite long. I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views, that made the cut, from the trip up the Schafberg on the Schafberg cog railway. Thank you very much for taking time to watch 🙂👍Paul

Paul, I would say that is some of the most spectacular scenery I’ve ever seen 😍
That view from the cross is just staggering and I don’t blame you being careful with drops like that.
Hi Julie n Tony, this was a memorable day out and one that makes me so glad I decided to start vlogging. The views were unreal and got super lucky with the weather. What you mean the salty bread thing isn't called stodge 😂Thank you very much for watching 👍🙂Paul

Wow beautiful
Fully watched and enjoyed. I love everything about your video- the scenery, the moving cart (train)...beautiful people and culture. Thank you for sharing Paul😊

Very beautiful mountain
Breathtaking views 👍
It sure is...a day to remember 🙂
Wow ! another amazing video of mountains and water, love it. :-) thanks for the tour :-)
This was an awesome day out up the Schafberg cog railway. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍
Pretty amazing that Paul from the steam boat crossing to the cog train (fab pov view )
But the summit definitely is breathtaking Paul (these northern Alps 🏔️🏔️Are breathtaking)

Thank you very much Adzey 👍
So beautiful ❤️
The views Paul are stunning, wow. Truly wonderful to see 😊
Hi Cara, I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views from the trip up the Schafberg via the Schafberg cog railway. It was an awesome few hours out. Thank you very much for watching. Have a great week 👍🙂Paul
My screen has been blessed.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I'm using a GoPro 11 doing 4k captures and 60fps.
@@TheHikingHermit Thanks Paul for the most useful information. I'll let you know if get a good slow 360 degree pan from there. Cheers.
No worries Rolf. Always happy to assist if I can. You will have to let me know how you get on. I'm sure you will have a fabulous time though
@@TheHikingHermit All this old limping hermit managed but much enjoyed: th-cam.com/video/AoinB8lTkLo/w-d-xo.html
The Schafberg was a little too high for my heart, I decided for Zwölfer Horn 300m lower.
In neither case could drone shots contribute much to the groundview or your recordings.
I'll be at the Dorffest again next year and order ''Käse Spätzerl'' for dinner at Brunetties,
where not even Kaiser Franz Joseph could have complained about the meal nor service and price. Good journeys!, Rolf.🙂

@@TheHikingHermit thank you dear
I want to travel in October how it will the weather
@@md.ashrafulislam2870 I suspect it will be a bit cooler in October.
Do they have luggage storage for suitcases?
I'm assuming you mean to leave whilst you go up the Schafberg on the cog railway. I'm not sure they have any storage for suitcases. However there might be some provision as there is a hotel on the Schafberg mountain. I'd email/call them to ask and if you get no joy perhaps email/call the hotel on the Schafberg mountain to see if they will store it. Sorry I couldn't give you a definitive answer but I hope that helps, Paul
