You can also break off a branch, then break all the twigs off it and roots will grow from the nubs of the missing twigs. Use about 6-8 inch branche pieces to start with you can propagate a ton off of a single 5 ft branch.
Thank all of you for your comments, I'm 72 and live in the woods in florida with the wife and our dog, I have blackberry plants in our garden , but want to expand my blackberry patch and have 50 or more plants, in our neck of the woods store bought plants are $10 '15, anf on social security thats not in our budget , I'm learning from all of you how to increase my patch.
I just cleaning mine up for spring. This week, I dug up and gave away over 100 plants, as they replicate like crazy! No pots needed. I started with only 5-10 plants 4 years ago.
Oh i should move mine onto the grass, they are putting those leaves all over the concrete becuase they are on my porch and they are in a pot i have 3. One is way bigger than the rest. Thanks for the video i know what to do now!
I bought 2 plants originally and they send runners out and new plants pop up . If they pop up in a good spot I leave them and start another row or I can dig about a foot down and get to the underground runner and clip it and then plant it where I want .

Put a small rock on top of the cane inside the pot. That will prevent the cane from coming out of the pot.
Wow thank you now i know how to grow more blackberry
Gave a like 👍 Great informative video.. Very useful as I just purchased Blackberry 😊 Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge 🙏
Tip layering in a pot works great, you just have to not let that pot dry out if you don't get enough rain.
Fantastic thank you, thank you this a blessing. No more buying them.!
Free plants are my favorite plants!
Wow that’s super interesting.

Mine are still young but very bushy, not stemmy like yours. What kind are they?
It will work in the pot. We do it all the time.
Great love it !
💚💚
How long does it need to grow strong enough roots for itself?
Approximately 2 months to be safe but less would most likely work too
Perfect was looking for a good way to propagate them
Maybe you should explain what you did to the end of the plant missy🤨
The end of the plant gets buried under the soil. That’s it. It’s simple
Where are you growing this? Wondering what type of climate this is doing so well in
South Florida
I grow them in Missouri area 6b
