Seems the water run-off from the hillside is compromising the attached garage foundation a bit; kind'a hard not to notice that big ol'crack in the floor, freezing/warming all the time with the frost condition.

electric stovetop and ovens? Thats the only downside I can see. I would certainly put in an average sized gas range for both heating and cooking for when -- not if -- the power goes out. Yes, the power will go out in rural Maine mid winters. I noticed a small wood stove. I would double the size of the woodstove so it takes cord length pieces of wood.

We live IN northeast CT on the border of MA...we have had no snow and the lakes are thawed for about a month...we've had lots of rain the last 3 days and all the trees are popping and grass is green now. We want to move up to Maine to retire (CT is AWFUL TO retirees...our raised ranch on 4 acres will be $10000 annual town tax very soon...crazy!! Can't wait to leave CT!😊

Old farmhouse charm with a totally modern home. Benefit of wood heat, without the mess with the Tarm boiler. No wood burning appliances inside of the home.

In Maine you only have 3.5 days over 70 degrees then it's 5 days of fall then winter starts with Temps in the teens. Gotta love it.

Well, the house wasn't totally renovated. That old inefficient oil boiler and foil wrapped water tank would cost a fortune to heat in Maine. The house looks at the lake separated by the busy road. Bet the owner wants over a million for it

The taxes in 2022 were $2686. Any other buildings would need to be approved by the code enforcement of the town. Not sure how you would plan on doing a hydro project on the property.
